I think it protrayed 80s fashion esp. hairstyles well esp female mullets(attention Jo and Tootie). There were also a lot of references to 80s music ie. Mrs. Garrett not knowing Boy George and the Culture Club in EGOC, Springsteen in Doo-Wah.

The Over our Heads era depicted fashion and hair-don'ts the way I remember them. I don't think it depicted 80s life the way I remeber it though. For instance, the spring break party in Ft. Lauderdale on Monday/Tuesday nights' episodes? I did Spring Break in Ft. Lauderdale in 1988 (stayed at my grandma's condo even!). By that time, Ft. Lauderdale was no longer the happening spring break hot spot. It had all moved to Daytona Beach and other resort towns in the early 80s. But the references to pop-culture were very accurate and timely. In the Sisters episode last night, when Jo's father was talking about his Toyota, and Blair's mother said, "Oh, what a feeling", that was actually Toyota's marketing slogan in the 80s. Many pop-culture references like that were dead on with how I remember the 80s.
