View Full Version : Nancy's accent seems to be returning....
CriMsoNrOsE 01-21-2004, 07:30 PM Is it just me or on TD can anyone else notice that she has a thick (or somewhat thick) NY accent on the stuff she says???
I mean, like on 'dollars' it sounded to me like Dollaz.... yknow... like Jo would talk.
Maybe I'm jus thinkin bout FOL lol but I jus wanna know if anyone else noticed this.
1strunfan 01-21-2004, 09:36 PM I haven't really noticed, but I also haven't been paying much attention, either. I'll try and check it out next Sunday though. It did seem like she had more of an accent in Comfort and Joy. Or, maybe I just imagined it. LOL Anyway, thanks for pointing it out, and I'll try and pay attention.
bananasplit 01-21-2004, 09:40 PM I taped the show so i'll watch it over the weekend and look (hear) for it
Expyra 01-21-2004, 11:25 PM Not sure if I've really noticed that or not. However, I did notice something else: In Baby It's Cold Outside, Magda asks Jinny what stopped her from killing herself and Jinny tells her, "Casey called." Now, the way she said the word "called" sounded like "cawled". That's just something I noticed, not sure if anyone else caught it or not.
Anyway, I have noticed a few times that the famous New York accent has surfaced, but not so much.
kadeliah 01-21-2004, 11:42 PM on nancy's intimate portrait her dad seemed to have a heavy new york accent while her mom didnt... i couldn't quite figure out where her mom must be from? maybe is't just my ears? but did anyone else notice that?

Isnt her mom from like Ireland or something. I dunno...someone told me that once.
But anyways, I havent noticed her accent really. But I'm from New York and I dont have the "accent" but it does come out sometimes. Like instead of saying "called" I'll say "cawled", like someone else said. Yeah, so I guess it does surface sometimes...meh I dunno.
1strunfan 01-22-2004, 10:11 AM On her intimate portrait, I too noticed that her mom had an unusual accent. It sounded foreign to me. Maybe it is Irish. Don't know. But, I noticed it was very different from what I really expected.
nancyrulz 01-22-2004, 12:02 PM I have noticed that certain words she says the New York accent is still there. On IP I remember her 'rents having somewhat of a stronger accent, NY I'm pretty sure but might be a touch of Irish in there too.
SFPD Insp.Bariteau 02-06-2004, 02:43 PM Exactly, like in Comfort and Joy, Jane said to her husband. "I ain't dun charity work in muh whole life!" I was all there it is! hehehehe
Rhiannon 02-06-2004, 05:38 PM I haven't noticed any of this, I need to start paying more attention.

Totally agree. I haven't noticed any of it either.
dali lama 102 02-08-2004, 06:10 PM People's old accents return once they are real happy and at peace. Maybe Jinny herself was raised in New York. Alot of people I know here even in good old Texas are from New York and have New York Accents. People migrate. I know, cause I'm happy, and it seems that when I was depressed, I sounded like I had no accent, and now I'm happy and my old Texas accent is coming back.
CD DeLorenzo 02-08-2004, 07:18 PM I bet that's because her eyes are... whatever color they are

CriMsoNrOsE 02-23-2004, 08:37 PM her eyes were hazel last night............ i think we should start keeping a log
NancyTracey&Jon 02-23-2004, 10:13 PM By the way another time you could hear her accent, was in the Division episode, entitled Spin Dry. When she was talking to Magda about the dead person. She said "I used to be able to leave a crime scene, dead bodies, go home, have a couple of beers, relax, sleep like a baby. But I don't get to do that anymore though do I? So no. I am definetly NOT ok." (Which was a good quote by the way) BUT when she said bodies, she pronounced it bAdies, instead of bOdies. hehe her accent again. lol She was born and raised in New York so it only makes sense! lol Review it and tell me what ya think.
CriMsoNrOsE 02-23-2004, 11:13 PM lmao yeah! i remember that! i do that too.. but i'm not from ny heh. Apparently me n you are the only ones who notice all these strange, little things! lol
ANYSNTHATWORKS 04-05-2004, 11:02 AM Here's another one I just noticed:
In the Very Beginning of the Extreme Action Figures Episode: Jinny was like: Yeah well we better find it, CUZ WE AIN'T GONNA make that ag. assault if we don't. I was like omg hi Jo what's up? hehe Cuz that's just who she sounded like.
