Ok, so my moms letting the 2 dogs out, and Nutmeg runs out with them. She starts screaming for her and stuff to come back, but she went straight back into the woods/someones yard. Its bad for Nutmeg to get loose, because when she gets overly excited/nervous, she has REALLY bad seizures- she cant even go to the vets anymore (we have housecall), because lasttime-about 4 years ago- she fell in the parking lot and had a seizure and the vet had to give her valium. So, of course I start freaking out and go outside to go look for her because she's had a couple before when she's gotten loose. Meangya, about 25 min. later, I pull into the driveway and she's at my door all jumpy so to keep her there, I start saying 'Wanna go for a drive?', 'Want a cookie?', etc... I get out, and meangya! She gets back out again lol. We got her about 10 min. after that, but whats weird is, as soon as we put her outside in her den, she starts wandering around and starts howling! LOl.. shes never howled before, and she went on for a good 2 min. Why did she howl?

Wow, that's weird. I'm glad she came back. Seizures are pretty scary to witness. As for the howling, I wish I knew, maybe she saw a weird animal or maybe there's a winter storm coming.

If you mention it to her vet. Let me know. I would like to know why she howled as well. That's weird.

The same thing happened to my doggie and YES she's an excitable dog too (I HATE that). Luckily I got her back. I'm happy you got her back too. :)

It was probably because she got the taste of true freedom and liked it.

Hey!!
Your dog may have been howling for a male dog. Maybe she saw one while she was away and was trying to keep in touch.
I don't really know, but I figured I would put the thought out there.

We have a little dog (Chiwaulwa) and she keeps escaping and we are worried one of these times she might not come back...

She digs holes under the fence to get out and its aggravating!!
