Do you like Aunt Esther or not? I do. I think she's pretty funny. But sometimes she can get on my nerves.

Yeah. I'm not even going to say she was annoying. I really like her. "I'm going to stick my foot right up your" "AUNT ESTHER!!!!"

I like her character but Fred bullies her too mercilessly. I mean one or two jokes an episode is ok but I don't want to see more than that. She is awesome.

. . . . is one of the best things about S & S. The fights between Fred and Ester are classics. They are my fave episodes when Ester appears. In real life, though, I think that Ester would kind of get on my nerves. ;)

Aunt Esther is an integral part of Sanford and Son. LaWanda Page and Redd Foxx had great chemistry since they were long time friends from St. Louis. Page delivered her lines with gusto especially in one episode where she said "There is no peace unto the wicked."

Aunt Eshter rocked!; she was one of the best supporting characters on Sanford and Son and the interaction between her and Fred were, though at time harsh, HILARIOUS...

I didn't like her....I loved her;) . The best part of it all is that she and Fred were real friends in life, as were many of the shows characters.

Aunt Esther was great. Her and Fred's scenes were some of the funniest on Sanford and Son.

In the early 80's, my brothers and I watched "Sanford & Son" reruns, and we actually had this game that we played. We threw a ball to each other, and as the name of the game put it: "Whoever misses it loves Aunt Esther"! We even had a "Whoever misses it loves Aunt Esther" championship for a while!
But yeah, I liked that character. Sad that LaWanda Page died. Come to think of it, she was an integral part of my childhood, since we had this game named after Aunt Esther. This is just fun stuff to remember.
I guess my favorite Aunt Esther scene is where her wig fell off. Not only that, but what they were saying just before that happened:

ESTHER: You know, there's a whole story in the Bible all about me.
FRED: I remember now. Samson slew the Philistines with your jawbone!
ESTHER: That did it!

She ran after Fred, and the rest was history.

Aunt Esther was AWESOME!!! She was an absolute integral part of the show, but I sometimes did feel a little sorry for her when Fred insulted her too much. Did anyone notice the way she squinted one eye and tilted her head to the side she sort of reminded me of the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz"I'll get you my pretty . . . and your little dog too!!!" Weird, I know, but for some reason I always connect the two when she makes that expression.

After awhile Fred's insults became a bit stale. He would insult her for no reason, as soon as she entered the room.

I LOVE AUNT ESTHER!!!! How can you hate her? She was a very important ingredient to the show. She is my second favorite character on the show behind Fred. without Aunt Esther, there would hardly be any insults.

After watching the 6th-season DVD set, I stand corrected.
The "jawbone" routine didn't happen when Esther's wig fell off, but in the episode where Fred thought he was jewish.
I know better now. Thank you.

Aunt Esther was the shizznit!! I always loved how Fred would do "The Lookaway" whenever she entered the room.

My favorite insults....

Esther to Fred when he, Rollo and Lamont were jailed in "Rated X" - "You just keep suckin' on that sucker, sucka! And when I pull your chain, you bark!"

Fred telling her that he could put her face in dough and make some gorilla cookies.

When they were handcuffed together, and they were trying to eat corn on the cob....Esther said "I like butter on my end.", to which Fred replied, "What do you like on your corn?"

Classic!

That's from "There'll Be Some Changes Made" (Season 4, #66) where Esther's wig comes of on purpose by Fred. That was indeed a very funny moment you can never get tired of. :)

Ester added much to the show, and she's a classic! I also enjoyed her on Different Strokes as Arnold and Willis's cousin.
