I'd also like to see "Ed" come back and, as for "Everybody Loves Raymond," isn't the jury still out of whether it will return? At least I haven't heard anything. Yeah, I'd like to see that come back, too. :D

"ed" coming back would be nice, but I wouldn't count on it

barwars- the problem isn't that these shows are leaving the air, the problem is that there is so little to take their place. In previous year, when alot of big shows left the air (like 1992), there were other big shows to take their place. Now there's not

factsoflife
01-19-2004, 04:45 PM
well they actually haven't confirmed "Raymond" yet, although it is generaly believed to be the last season.

IMO.... NBC will have the worst schedule come next fall.

I think CBS will own the ratings.
But ABC is better IMO.

W&G is renewed through next season, the series 7th. But with ratings declining so sharply this season (something like 30%), next season could be the last for W&G too.

What makes matters more complicated for W&G is the lawsuit the creators have against NBC. When NBC renewed the show two years ago for three seasons, it was in negotiations with NBC Enterprises for rights to the show. The creators feel that NBC and NBC Enterprises teamed up to keep the liscensing fee down for the show (at about $4 million an episode), thus hurting the money in the pockets of the creators.

"Good Morning Miami," also created by KoMut (I can't remember their names exactely) is now dead because of this lawsuit, a sort of retaliation by NBC against those guys. Of course, the poor ratings for that series didn't help it.

NBC is dead.
Its over.
Nothing can save it now.

Its already begun the death process by shuffuling up the entire schedule.

And worst of all.... a reality show on Must See TV.
(i like reality shows.... but Must See TV is for sitcoms)

You are so right. However i believe that NBC will want to keep as many hit shows as they can on the air, and with so little new hits, W&G is one of the only established comeides they have left so i wouldn't be surprised if we see it get renewed for its 8th and 9th seasons. But season 10, i'm not so sure. But you are right, GMM is as good as dead, they don't even have it on the air for sweeps.

db108108
01-26-2004, 03:22 AM
I believe that too. But I think a renewal deal for W&G will really come down to next May. If the show is still a top draw for the network, they'll bring it back. But if something else clicks or ratings for W&G continue to slide, it'll probably signify the end.

In today's world of network tv, it only take one series or two series to bring a network back. It could very well happen for NBC, but I think NBC is going to crash like ABC did two years ago.
