View Full Version : Problems with the DVD...

Ok, I've been experiencing some problems with the DVD. I originally purchased it on Christmas Eve. Waited a while to open it (widescreen concerns...see thread), and when I did, I was sort of disappointed. First, the paper insert looked ragged near the upper right edge, almost second hand. Then, when I took the DVD out, I looked at it. Near the outer edge were all kinds of loops and ridges, almost warped looking. I sighed and put it in my DVD player. While it seemed fine, the last few episodes (written near where the loops and ridges were), seemed to have some color problems. I sighed again and just yesterday took it back to Kmart where I bought it, to try another one. Same thing. Paper insert looks raggedy in upper right corner, and loops and ridges again. I haven't played this one yet, I'm just a little disappointed about this all...does anyone else have these problems? I just feel like these were rushed out in a hurry. I mean, I have some $3.99 cheap Lucy Show DVDs that look more professionally made than this. Aside from these things, the packaging seems to be second rate too. The plastic wrap was put on these, seemingly backwards, making for puckering and leftover plastic on the spine, which is an eyesore since most people store DVDs with the spine showing. Also, on every copy I looked at at the store, there are fine little lines and scratches on the front and back...anyway, I'm probably just being a little picky about some of these things, but I just don't really like the sight of the loops and ridges on the disc surface...anyone concur?

My DVD came out fine.

If this new one messes up, buy another one from Wal-Mart or Circut City.

Yeah, but I want to know if mine is fine too. I may just be over-analyzing it. I just want everyone to take the disc, go under a lamp and look for the loopy stuff I was talking about. Maybe it's just normal. I watched the new copy I got though, and the colors seemed a little jittery. I don't get it...

I don't think spending an extra $15 for a different one from a different store is the solution though...

I actually went to Best Buy the other day, looked around the TV Series DVD area, and did not see it at all...I may be getting a 3rd replacement from Kmart...I just feel like I've gotten duds...the picture seems grainy and everything...but then again I have a $45 DVD player...

The only problem I have is that in "No Children, No Dogs" when Mr. Roper is telling Janet that he saw Chrissy sleep walking the screen gets all grainy. But if I restart the episode it's fine.

Yeah, that was in mine too. I got mine from Target. The way I solved that problem was by playing it in another DVD program in my computer. I found the DVD program that came with my Windows 2000 to be the best one, without skips or problems.

My one problem with the DVD is that there are no extras. I know it is only the first season and they had very few episodes that season. But they still should have put the time in the DVD so we could get extras. Like a tribute to John.

That's gonna be on the 2nd season DVD.
