Olivia Goldsmith, the author of many books including 'The First Wives Club' died on Thursday. She had been in a coma for a week following complications after a facelift. I just read it in the paper- it hasn't been reported much. Her lawyer said she left instructions to donate her organs "to provide future life and comfort to others". She was 54 years old.
I loved the movie 'The First Wives Club- she actually had a cameo in it. I'm looking to find a copy of the book to read. RIP Olivia Goldsmith. :(

That's really sad. To think she just wanted to look better and it cost her her life. Surgery is serious stuff, she must have had a reaction to the anasthetic.

She has a new book coming out in May too. It is really sad, considering she was still a very active author. I believe she was also working on a screenplay for her book 'Pen Pals'- about a wall street woman taking the rap for her boss and going to jail- only he doesn't try help her get out, so she plots revenge and also improves the prison with her wall stree managing skills. I'd heard facelifts could sometimes be fatal, though it's really scary when it happens to someone in the public eye.

An article in the paper read that she was inspired to write The First Wives's Club, from her own personal experience with divorce where her husband got it all and she spent all her money on lawyers. She had a cameo in the movie made from her bestseller, as a mourner at the funeral of the wives friend who killed herself when her husband left.

That or maybe she contracted a staph infection which is becoming a serious problem in hospitals now days. I know of at least 3 people who entered the hospital with minor problems and never came out!

She died due to the anaesthetic, the Sunday Times said today. They had this long article about how Olivia's death should be a high profile warning to people considering going under the knife. They had oppinions from people about the new plastic surgery trends and botox and stuff.
Have any of you here ever had any cosmetic surgery, even botox etc? Or- would you consider it?
