I loved Crazy for This Girl...and give Fountains of Wayne some more time. Stacy's Mom is still relatively new.

like I've said 222 times in the past. I've been a Fountains Of Wayne fan since Radiation Vibe. It took them 8 years from their debut to finally get a hit. I have a feeling it'll be a fluke for them, just like how suddenly in the mid-90's, alt-rock acts like Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr. and Meat Puppets FINALLY had their big breakthrough hit singles, and then they went back to their cult following immediately afterwards, never to be seen or heard on MTV again.

I was just proving a comparison point about someone saying they think FOW might be able to score another hit (IMO, if Radiation Vibe and Sink To The Bottom weren't hit singles... what can be hits for them?) by pointing out that this time 10 years ago, a lot of alternative bands who had been around since the early 1980's finally had big breakthrough hits (in 94, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr and Meat Puppets ALL had hit singles, even tho they'd all been around since 1982-1983), but instead of it equalling a long-lasting mainstream career for them, by the time their next albums came out, they were back to being cult artists. That I figure Fountains Of Wayne will be the same way

Bloodhound Gang, I didn't count them because Fire Water Burn was also a hit for them in 1996

Afroman's Because I Got High: I liked the first two, maybe three times I heard it. But it got old fast.

You might just have Ron "Boogiemonster" Gerber to thank for
Fountains Of Wayne making it big-he regularly played Stacy's
Mom and Bright Future In Sales on Crap From The Past and
then Stacy's Mom was picked up nationally last summer and
eventually made it to number 4 on American Top 40 With Casey
Kasem. Just thought I would pass that tidbit along.
