Has anyone else noticed that the show's focus is now on the parents? It annoys me that all the main plots revolve around them now.

There could be for several reasons
Frankie Munz trying to carve a film career
The focus always seems to shift from the would-be star to the other characters
Let me give you all an example
Family Ties was supposed to focus on Elyse and Steve but Alex became popular and was now the focus of the whole show its entire run.
Growing Pains was supposed to focus on Alan Thicke but Kirk Cameron got popular that the show went from being Alan Thicke's show to being Kirk Cameron's show
The Simpsons even stopped focusing on Bart and now focuses more on Homer

I love Hal!
My favorite episode is where they have flashbacks of what they spent...

'You spent 4,000 dollars on sequins!'

I love Hal, too. Lois was right in the episode 'Poker' when she called him a fool. :)
They wonder where the boys get their foolisness and lack of common sense. Hal is the king of goofballs.
Adorable, too.
