After releasing 3 single-disc DVDs back in 2000-2001, Rhino informs us that they are now returning to the world of My Favorite Martian and exploring it more thoroughly. As in season-set thoroughly!

Look for "My Favorite Martian - Season 1," which consists of 37 episodes starring Ray Walston and Bill Bixby, on DVD in May. We don't know yet if these will be delivered in the original black-and-white, but based on Rhino's previous releases we aren't worried about this. I'm confident we'll see the first two seasons in black-and-white, and the third season in color, just as they should be. Stay tuned, though, and we'll have complete details for you just as soon as they are available.

Thanks a million,Todd, for alerting us to this scoop!!!!!

We can only hope this "unofficial" news turns out to be true!

Rhino missed a golden opportunity to market the show last year with the 40th anniversary of MFM, plus the free publicity from the close approach of Mars to Earth in August and now the success of NASA Mars Rover!

Maybe they got smart and listened to fans who have been clamouring for this for years.

But again, we should wait for the official word from Rhino to insure it will be a reality.

I spoke to Rhino and asked if the pilot would be timesped to 22 minutes like on their previous DVD release or if they would get a full length, 25:30 minuter version. They pretty much said that they would use what they had meaning they are too lazy to correct the problem. I suggest all fans of the show to contact Rhino and tell them you want them to include the correct version of the pilot and not the 22 minute syndication version.

Wonderful that you contacted Rhino!

Here is the problem with the DVD pilot: Right after the opening credits, after the sketch of the Martian, they cut out the credits for Writer John L Greene and Director Sheldon Leonard.Their names should appear over a freeze frame of the animation. They aren't.They are cut completely.

Then the film starts with a establishing shot of the window of the Los Angeles Sun.

I emailed Rhino about this last week, and also urged them to dig up some special features, like CBS promos and cast commericals.
So far I have not gotten any reply.

The rest of the episodes 2-8 appear to be uncut on the DVDs that RHINO has currently released.
It may be that the pilot is the ony one that has a problem.
