Wow. All of the western MA school districts cancelled school for tomorrow because it's supposed to go down to -10, and with the wind chill, supposed to feel like it's -40!

Has anyone else ever had school cancelled due to the extreme cold? I found it a little... odd at first, but hey, four day weekend!

Yup, that's the same reason it's closed here in NY...today and tomorrow. The diesel in the buses is all gelled up  Barely any kids even came yesterday because of it.

Yep. When I was in 5th grade in 1995, it got to -86 once and school had to be closed for like two or three days due to that (it was still REALLY cold after that day). :o

I'm here in Ontario, Canada, and these past two days, and some days last week, were the coldest, in a long, long, long time.

I'm past my school years, but I don't think that schools were closed.

I heard on CNN, they asked how cold is it, so cold, that they can't make ice.

No kidding. College only got cancelled once due to a near blizzard. That was a miracle in itself.

We actually had a blizzard my freshman year - over three feet of snow. Why weren't classes cancelled, you ask? BECAUSE IT WAS FINALS WEEK!!!!!!!!! :crybaby:

Is that wind supposed to come to the Midwest anytime soon, by any chance?

 Hoping for a cancellation? It's been too warm and not snowy lately. Bad news for students.

It's 4 below here in Beantown. My friend told me that today she was out and her nose started to run, and it froze, lol.

I can understand school closings because of extreme cold. Kids shouldn't be out when it's crazy cold.

Well, here in KY, it's 30 degrees, which is cold for here, but nice and toasty compared compared to y';all.. For once, I'm glad I'm living down here (for some reason, I've always wanted to live in colder states..but -10 to -20 is just ridiculous)

You think that's bad, try -30 and -40. I think in the Adirondacks, it got colder than that.

30F would be like a heatwave around here.

yea, last year a friend told me they cancelled classes for 2 days because of the 6 feet that dropped on Boulder during March.

it's been in the 60's all week. goddamn Colorado weather. on a lighter note, they're predicting some snow for next Tuesday. - prays for a blizzard -

Hey!!
When I was in fourth grade, I think it was fourth grade, we had a fog day. It was so foggy out that the township didn't want to send the busses out, so instead of having a delayed opening, we had a day off. I think it's pretty funny!!
