IDOL TALK
Although the next season of American Idol doesn't kick off on FOX until late January, Paula Abdul reports that she, Simon and Randy have already narrowed the field down to 36 finalists. "This season, I think, is going to be favored toward the females," says Abdul. "We have some gorgeous girls with some amazing voices, and some great looking boys too. ...Two of the 36 finalists are teenage brothers from New York who'll be competing against each other. ... I think it's three girls and one guy who are just brilliant. Voices like you've never heard." For her part, Abdul is recording her first studio album in years, as well as developing a reality TV series about a dance-cheerleading squad, titled Skirts.

Vegas Girl 01-18-2004, 06:18 PM Speaking of the Thompsons on AJ, I was hoping Tori made it and Taylor didn't.
I think Tori was a lot more talented. Can't believe Taylor was the first one selected.

I think Tori was a lot more talented. Can't believe Taylor was the first one selected. At first i liked Tori more than Taylor.... and then i noticed that Tori is probably a weaker vocalist than a lot of the other juniors. When Taylor performed her "Proud Mary", i liked her a lot. When she got in the group, i was like "okay, i guess shes good".. but then she sorta developed this "snobby" attitude. Eventually, it went away, and i saw more "voice" from her.. so i liked her better than Tori. For some reason, Tori just seems to young to be in this...
RoseArt 01-19-2004, 05:39 PM I can't wait , have been waiting for this moment for a long time...so excited ..,..Yes !!! I hope that they keep going for a few years...My daughter likes Junior IDOL AND IS WAITING FOR THAT TO COME BACK TOO...As far as Judges go, there are no two ways about it , if anyone cares ....What I believe ....
Simon in my opinion is a great Judge, he is brutally honest which is very important in this buisness..The Buisness is very difficult and people need to be able to accept criticism and opinions without running off and crying or feeling like they just can't take it...The real world in the Entertainment industry leaves little room for failure and a Star is mature , professional and can take all of the garbage that the industry and media dish out with a grain of salt, that is what makes the difference between a true star and a wannabe....Who cares what is really said in the end if you are true to yourself and give it your all then you shouldn't have anything to worry about...Everybody has some purpose or another and some just don't have what it takes to be in this buisness and they need to be told....Don't think for one second that half of the people that go to those auditions aren't just there for fun and already realize that they will never have what it takes to be in the music buisness, it is just the chance that they have to be close to it for a little while even if to hear about failure that draws them there..They know they will be criticized and they really don't care, they just go for the thrill.....and to possibly get themselves on a small clip of TV for a few seconds so that they have something to show their friends..Their self esteem isn't as low as you think...or they .wouldn't be there .eitheir that or they are truly inept ! How do you feel ???
