Wow, great pictures. I got their mommy's sig on a picture of herself, marked For Claude, Love Lucy. But i assumed a secretary had done it, but no, Lucy signed her fan mail herself, even with so little free time.

I sent the letter while in my teens in the sixties, an 18 page fan letter. Then i didn't write again till she got a little sick a year before she died, i wrote every day to make her feel she still had fans who loved her. Reminded me of the episode where they write all those fan letters to Ricky.

Aww, how sweet Claude! Good for you! I wish I could have, but it would have been interesting for her to decipher a 1 year old's handwriting! LOL!

You really were a fan weren't you? I wonder what you would have done if you DID live in LA. That's kind of a scarry thought.

I would definitely have driven by the house every day till i finally saw her, that's for sure. And i would have sent flowers and plants on her birthdays and Christmas every year, but i never had her address. Back then, it wasn't so easy to find out their addresses, you could send fan mail to a studio or network, but not their house.

I'm thinking you probably would have done more than drive by!

Well, yeah, that would just have been the start of course, didn;t we talk about this before, i would have been more famous than that Letterman stalker! Remember also the fan who snuck into her poolhouse and jotted down the phone numbers, the police came and couldn't find him and he later called the house and got her on the phone, and she made him promise NEVER to use those phone numbers again and she talked him out of doing anything else. I think she might have had a harder time with me though, LOL!

Yes, i even rambled back then. The one line i remember though because now i realize how offensive it must have been for her to read, was when i told her to be careful with her eyes, she looked better on her own show than on The Tonight Show, why is that? Or words to that effect. Ahhhhhhhhhhh, Y O U T H !

Are you sure she read ALL that? LOL! j/k

Well, maybe, it was a detailed look at her entire career on 18 pages, and back then i knew every line from every show like Laura, Brock and Harry Carter do today.

Hello - Splan, I was wondering if there was any way you could show us the autographed picture you got of Lucy. If so that would be great.

I thought i had warned everybody that i had a sales meeting at work and wouldn't post yesterday. I sent her the 18 page letter and did not make a copy for myself. She sent me an autographed picture with the notation For Claude, Love Lucy on it and i eventually gave it away to a girl who later moved away to another town and i never heard from her again, probably only saw me to get the prize. It was written in the fur part, it was black and white and i sometimes see the same copy on E Bay. It was from the sixties and had a glow about it, she sometimes used these photos with huge furs so she could write on that part of the photo. I SWEAR it is true and hate telling it because people think i'm nuts for admitting i gave it away, but the photo itself is just a possession, and means nothing, the memory of it though will live in my heart forever. I wish i could explain to people that i also had twenty scrapbooks of Lucy pictures that i also gave away, you get to be a certain age, and you are embarrassed to have these things, and there was the longest period where none of Lucy's shows were shown anywhere, but yes, i could kill myself now for getting rid of any of it as they would be worth a lot. Believe it or not, i did have a life though so i wasn't attached to THINGS and i never kept her stuff for monatary gain. And besides, nowadays i have another collection and now i have the means to buy anything i want, and it's a joy and also a pain to find things i already owned at one point.
