Yes, it is true. It'll still be on the air until end of August or early September however. The Insider, a spin-off show from Entertainment Tonight, will be the replacement.

I'm going to miss H2 "Hollywood Squares" with Tom Bergeron. Tom is still hosting "America's Funniest Home Videos" (not the Bob Saget version). I know that GSN is still reruning the Bergeron version, I missed the original Peter Marshall's version on GSN. I used to watch that show with Marshall and Bergeron back-to-back last year on both GSN and syndication.

Yep. Just as I suspected. I wouls like to thank the culprits most highly responsible fort making H2 extinct. ET's INsider and the #1 show that just seems that won't quit and people may not agre with my views but it's Wheel of Fortune's fault that H2 got the Axe. I think not only that CBS O&O's have given up on H2 but the conspiracy thatWoF helped out dismantling H2 for making The Insider replace H2. I know it may be upsetting and no offense to WoF fans but Wheel just seems to never quit being #1, it's a greedy, snobbish game show that people just want to continue being #1. It just isn't fair for other shows to catch up with WoF but IMO and I think people who support Sajak are supporting terrorism. Pat wearing the American Flag ever since the 9/11 attacks is just a nucense and obnoxious. I am not anti-american but other shows just need to get a chance. I just have alot of hatred of Pat Sajak and he just definitelyt needs to retire period! It just seems to make Wheel more blah but I did believe that H2 needed to get another chance. Maybe in 5 to 7 years from now, it can get another chance! I will definitlely miss H2. Good luck with THE INSIDER!!! Even that show can go to hell along with WoF!! Alex Trebek seems to be better off with me since his beardless moustache is cool!! Good luck Tom Bergeron!

Thanks for the good advice folks and I just have to move on with my life. I just really have to just move on! I'm sorry for the words that I used to criticize WoF but I really, really have hatred of Pat Sajak! He just seems to be getting what he wants! Greed, Selfishness, snobbish, ********, too patriotic (Though I am NOT anti-American!) too much fame, and showing that his #1 show can topple H2 and Pyramid for newsmagazine shows or
some tiresome chatfest! I hope Pat Sajak will get what he deserves after WoF hands the puzzle board in about never! That's totally unfair! What part of unfair don't you people get?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

We should all blame Pat Sajak and his reign of syndicated terrorism to game shows! Pat Sajak has no sympathy of failing game shows!!!! (Call me Anti-American in which I am not.) People, people people don't you see that Sajak is a patriotic Terrorist! He is using the American Flag pin so that he can feel happy with the fake pride that he is showing in his heart and not to mention the damage that he is doing to other game shows like H2, Pyramid and all of the other syndicated stuff. Also the reason why you guys don't see what WoF is doing to other game shows is because some ignorant and mindless people may think that it is just plain nonsense in what I am saying in really which it is the truth. Who knows, maybe Pat may not know that one of his contestants on WoF is a real-life Al-Queda terrorist who wants to do harm on a game show. Some of you just don't feel the sympathy of H2 because you want the terror to continue so that you feel just pity for the show itself.

LETS BLAME PAT! BLAME PAT! BLAME PAT! BOYCOTT WHEEL OF FORTUNE! BOYCOTT WHEEL OF FORTUNE! WHEEL IS SUPPORTING TERRORISM! WHEEL IS SUPPORTING TERRORISM! WHEEL IS SUPPORTING TERRORISM!

I all feel so sorry for you guys. I will miss H2! I just wish that SAJAK should host the worst TV show in history Jerry Springer and have Springer host WoF so that we will see how the ratings for Wheel will be!!!!! I want Sajak to go away PERIOD! Sajak is nothing but pure Game Show evil!

Also lately, Wheel of Fortune seems to be a very snobbish, greediesh, selfish ratings hog. It seems to be consistent all the time and people seem that it is OK for the show to continue the terrorism. I think other shows like H2 and Pyramid must be given a chance to make it's stardom and it's not all WoF all the time, it's selfishness what the show is doing now a days. Who's with me?
On the other hand, Alex Trebek should be the new front-runner for syndication! I like him!

Alex Trebek is too cold and no personality with all due respect to his fans to be the king of game shows!!

Hollywood Squares is AWFUL! The washed up past celebrities are the only ones doing any freakin' work. The damn contestants just agree or dissagree! Its such a jip! God, I hate it with a passion. The only reason I watch it is because Mama is on it this week, even if the same exact thing would happen if it were Vicki Lawrence herself. Game Shows at their worst...

You know what, you are nothing but a son of a mother f******, dumb a** N***** pathetic piece of turd b*****in a**hole. YOU PAT SAJAK SUPPORTED TERRORIST!!!!! I HOPE YOU ROT IN HELL FOR WHAT YOU ARE SAYING TO THIS GREAT SHOW!!!! You are supporting an alliance of keeping Wheel Of freakin' terroristic Fortune which funds money to terrorists! You are one of them! Simply you can just go to hell and stay there you freaking H2 hater. You are a patriotic terrorist wwho only cares about your own self. Good riddance!
OK you anti-gameshows son of a b****!. Just hopefully, you will realize that you are supporting terrrorism when watching WoF. Just a warning out there. Speaking of which it seems that Hollywood and talk shows are selfish of putting on their new shows so they can get what they want. That my friends is GREED! One more thing, if you think H2 is horrible, than you can just go to hell!

I'm sorry for this outburst, but I really just hate Pat Sajak! He is ruining game shows. I hope that one day, Pat Sajak will pay for what he is doing to game shows! He deserves what he gets!

If "H2" leaves the air coming maybe in the fall, GSN (The Network for Games) will have the rights to the post-Whoopi era and adding additional episodes from 2002 to 2004. I hope the new GSN will have reruns from the post-Whoopi episodes probably in the future. GSN already has the Whoopi episodes too.:D

"Hollywood Squares" Axed by King World
From the tvgameshows.net archives - 1/13/04

The announcement was almost anti-climactic, expected since a decision from the CBS-owned stations to drop "Hollywood Squares" next fall in favor of "The Insider", yet another magazine series from Viacom-owned Paramount Television.

After a valiant two-year attempt to save the sinking game, King World announced the cancellation of "Squares" Monday at the Televison Critics Association tour.

Production will continue through May sweeps on the six-year-old revival of the celebrity game which brought host Tom Bergeron an Emmy three years ago.

When the series returned six years ago, "Squares" was considered pivotal for the future of new game shows in syndication after a decline in the genre. With a $6 million annual salary for Whoopi Goldberg as executive producer and Center Square, the show ponied up more money for bigger-name celebrities.

The show reached a zenith with a 4.8 rating in the 1999-2000 season and a ranking as high as ninth in the syndicated Nielsons.

However, by season 3, Goldberg's personality----which had thoroughly dominated the show the first two years with reaction shots of Goldberg on virtually every other celebrity's question----began to wear thin. The show's content began to wane with fewer questions on each show. In addition, tampering with the show's end game created a bigger-money but unwieldy format.

Goldberg was dumped at the end of the fourth season after a 48 percent drop in the ratings between 2000 and 2002. Former actor Henry Winkler and Michael Levitt were brought in as executive producers and began to stem the ratings bleeding.

Winkler and Levitt developed creative theme weeks, includng two featuring game show legends. They restructured the bonus game and significantly increased the number of questions in each episode.

The producers succeeded in stemming the ratings bleeding but the damage appeared to be done when in January 2003, the CBS-owned stations agreed to drop "Squares" from prime access in 2004. Viacom moved the game to its co-owned UPN affiliate in Los Angeles in the fall of 2002 in favor of "Who Want's to Be a Millionaire" (which will likely require a new outlet in fall 2004).

King World withheld an announcement on the show's fate until after the November sweeps. Season-to-date ratings show "Squares" at a 2.2, falling behind a slightly-resurgent "Family Feud" among existing game shows and tied with "Pyramid".
