jamesanthony 04-18-2004, 03:09 PM There's virtually nothing on now that I would rearrange my schedule to see, but the ones I prefer are:
The Big House- (actually I've been going out of my way to catch this because I just know it's going to get cancelled quick.)
Girlfriends- only seen about 5-6 ep this season, didn't like it at all before
Half and Half- liked it more last year, every time I tune in now it's a rerun I've seen before
Rock Me Baby- this could be on NBC
Eve- Eve the actress isn't funny at all but the show has its appeal
King of Queens- very underrated show, not sarcastic and caustic like Raymond
Becker- if it hasn't gotten cancelled, I think it has. Ted Danson is a good actor
MeganFan 04-18-2004, 05:20 PM I am torn between three, so I'll just go againts the rules and pick three favorites:p

EmoJoe 05-14-2004, 10:11 PM Everybody Loves Raymond is my favorite current sitcom. ;) :p Charmed is my FAVORITE current show, but it wasnt listed here. The 2000s so far, in my opinion, are the worst decade for sitcoms. :(

Everybody Loves Raymond
Two and Half Men
Borderline Likeability:
King of Queens
Whoopi (but her increasingly extreme political views are really starting to annoy me)

Skywalker 06-13-2004, 07:51 PM As far as sitcoms go, right now there is nothing funnier than Arrested Development.
LucyCompanyPhan 06-14-2004, 04:04 PM I like Scrubs, Will & Grace, Macolm in the middle & The Simpsons on a occasion, but now that Friends is gone I don't know what I'll be watching regularly. Probably Joey when it aires.
Question- if a show is really not funny or any good but it still has good numbers & all.... would a network take it off?
dlemond 06-14-2004, 04:24 PM Scrubs, 2 1/2 Men, George Lopez, and Everybody Loves Raymond.
I didn't include That '70s Show which was so lame this season with no effort whatsoever put into the storyline or writing. Otherwise it is one of my favorite shows.
2 1/2 Men has some of the best jokes and is a perfect vehicle for Charlie Sheen. I couldn't stand him on Spin City.
George Lopez has some of the most biting jokes and never plays it safe in regard to how life is and what it throws at you. You think this is a family sitcom? Watch again.
People bitch all the time that Everybody Loves Raymond has lost its charm and is just mean. I say look again and realize that there was always this mean streak in the show but now that they are getting older it is more pronounced. And regardless, the show is funny. Who cares if they are likeable? Were the Seinfeld characters ever likeable? They were the absolute worst human beings ever.
ELR has had some hysterical moments this year and I disagree with anyone who can say that some of these episodes aren't among the best. And yes they are mean and shallow.
mattyc 06-15-2004, 09:53 AM Probably Everybody Loves Raymond and My Wife and Kids.
db108108 06-16-2004, 12:43 PM I love George Lopez (for the reasons descrbied above- the third season was extremely surprizing for me in terms of quality).
Also Less Than Perfect, which is one of the top five current sitcoms on tv today, IMHO.
Other than that the only thing I've watched since returning from Mexico a month ago is The Simpsons and the news. I'm one of thes males 18-34 that the networks are freaking over because they've suddenly disappeared.
barwars 09-10-2004, 07:18 PM With the new TV season upon us, some shows have left, and some shows have just begun.... and opinions have changed
So I apologize for bumping up this thread, but Im just wondering what are now your favorite current sitcoms??

welll, you gotta consider the current state of sitcoms. It's crap, crappy and crappier. 10 years ago, it was different, but now if there's a sitcom decent enough that you'd wanna come back a second episode, that is quite scarse anymore.
LucyCompanyPhan 09-11-2004, 04:27 PM I loved Joey from friends & I love Joey from Joey. I think thats enough for me. Plus it was actually really hard trying to think of 10 shows I actually watch/like.

just curious, how do you go about that? Do you watch one and tape the other, or do you watch them on Soapnet?

Well, in my post I listed the timeslot given by the network. NBC has DAYS come on at 1 ET followed by "Passions" at 2 ET. My NBC affiliate, however, shows DAYS and PSNS an hour behind the most of the country, so DAYS comes on right after AMC here.
Y&R, for example, actually comes on a half-hour earlier here than the time I have listed for it. On my other CBS (I have 2 CBSs, ABCs, and PBSs), it comes on at 5 ET in the afternoon.
I just put the network-given times since they are the official slots.
And for the sake of killing my boredom, I just want to add that if I did have SOAPnet (and I don't), my life would be overrun with soaps. AMC and DAYS' scheduling prevents me from watching "The Bold and the Beautiful" and "As the World Turns," both of which sparked my interest GREATLY during the summer.
