Five months after most of the posts in this thread, three of the top five shows with the most mentions are definitely coming out this year:

Seven Votes Each
Laverne & Shirley - August 17
Diff'rent Strokes - September 14
Facts of Life
Happy Days - August 17
Family Ties

You think maybe the studios pay attention to what we want? Let's hope so. Since it's been a few months maybe we should all each update our top ten lists, and I'll keep track of the new vote totals.

#1. WKRP (original series)
2. Maverick
3. Saturday Night Live (not best ofs, or highlight discs, but real season-by-season compilations)
4. Hill Street Blues
5. Rockford Files
6. Firefly Season 2 (yeah, I know it doesn't exist, but that cancellation still ticks me off :) )
7. Dick Van Dyke

I can't think of more right now, because some of the shows that I would have listed either were released on DVD recently, or will be in the near future (ie: Night Court).

Now, realistically, I don't expect any of those shows to ever be released on DVD (except, *maybe*, for Hill Street Blues). WKRP and SNL would probably have music licensing issues, and some SNL seasons wouldn't (and shouldn't!) sell well. Maverick, Rockford Files and Dick Van Dyke, while all great shows, are probably too old, with a corresponding old market, to get the studios interested in releasing them.

Micheal De Lorenzo was also in my #1 most wanted show Fame, though nowhere near as prominent as he was on NY Undercover. And I agree with you, as decent as Cosby Show was, A Different World in my opinion was the better show. I'd still buy ADW on dvd even though I've got every ep on dvd-r, (I prefer having the real thing.)

I remember those shows! Both aired on ABC, right??
I remember a lot of commercials for DM, and this particular song (which may or may not have been the themesong) that played during them. "Walking in the shadows of the valley of death" or something like that, I don't know -- I just know it was a hit song in the first place.

SN was a pretty good, reminiscent of 7th Heaven, although.... good.

Yes, they were both ABC dramas from the mid 90's and if I'm not mistaken, they both at one time or another aired Mondays at 8. You're right about the Dangerous Minds theme song. It was a hit for Coolio, done for the movie and then they used it as the theme for the tv show. The series by the way, was a thousand times better than the movie. I'm glad I managed to record at least eight episodes, I still have the vhs though it's not great, audio or video wise. I would love for this to come out on dvd, but I doubt it'll ever happen.

I loved Second Noah, more the first season than the second season. It was a good family show. I don't think I have any episodes recorded though. The Family Channel should pick up reruns.

You know, I don't remember a big change, but it just didn't seem as enjoyable in the second season as it was the first. I remember hoping it would be renewed because it was on the brink of cancellation after season 1. Then when it came back it just didn't seem to be the same level of quality.

Yeah, my sister keeps saying she misses "Alice." I am wanting to get her the DVD but, seems no such item exists. Does anyone have Alice taped? Mind sharing?

What about all those series WB still have to release. The most surprising ones that are still not released:

1. Family Matters - come on; this show ran for 9 seasons, and 5 of those seasons made it into the top 30, 3 making into the top 20. It was an ABC stable hit, yet still not season set, or even a TV Favorites release

2. Step by Step - This show was another staple TGIF series. It ran for 7 seasons, always getting good ratings, yet there is still no release for it yet.

3. The Hogan Family - for some reason, this sereis does not seem to do well in repeats, which is probably the main reason this show is not on DVD

4. Alice - another hit of its time, garnering decent ratings ist entire run. It's on ION, so lets hope it will get some new viewers wanting a season 1 release.

The person your quoting doesn't mean The WB shows, he/she means Warner Bros. Owned series, like Just The Ten Of Us, Alice, Family Matters, Step By Step, The Hogan Family, Chico and the man, etc
