Which method has been kindest to you?

Well...if I just blowdry it, it gets straight but it's REALLY puffy. I've used a relaxer before and that worked pretty good. Straighteners do, too, except for the fact that they damage your hair...

Please people let me know what the best method is. I have naturally curly hair and have tried everything on that list and nothing works for me. My hair always ends up all dried out and frizzy whenever I try to straighten it and as soon as I put any kind of hair product on it it just curls right back up again, especially in humid weather.

I use a straightening iron but I'm not one to spend hours doing my hair.. I just want my waves gone, I don't need super straightness.

What I wouldn't give to have been born with straight hair. I get so sick and tired of people always telling me how lucky I am to have curly hair.

I've always just used the blowdryer but only once in a while. Relaxer chemicals are harsh and I'm too scared of burning my hair to a dry brittle crisp. As much as I love and prefer straight hair, I've come to accept my hair's just not that way and stick to straightening only for special ocassions. Curly but healthy is definitely better than curly and damaged.

I don't have to use any of those things, because my hair always stays straight.

I use a flat iron, everyday. I have naturally ugly hair, people have complimented my hair before... I owe my thanks to the flat iron. I have ugly, wavy, thick hair. It's gross. I use Citre Shine serum when I'm done straightening my hair, it's supposed to protect it from heat damage, tame frizzies, and make my hair shiny. I like it. I wouldn't suggest just using a flat iron and not using some kind of product to protect your hair like a serum or deep conditioner. My hair is damaged but it's worth it. A trim every now and then will take care of that.

Yep. I use a deep conditioning treatment every 4-5 days, and my hair is extremely healthy.

I flat iron everyday with my Conair Ceremic straighting iron. It doesn't make it frizzy and it makes my hair poker straight.

I use a professional flat iron that I got when I went to get my hair trimmed a couple of months ago, and it REALLY works. I've never had a problem with it- great stuff :) Everything else made my hair frizz.

This is the flat iron I use...

I agree there lol I have naturally straight hair. I never straighten mine anymore because now it's naturally straight. But when I was younger..maybe in 6th or 7th grade my hair was up to my shoulders and it was really thick..I hated it. So at that time I used to use a straightener almost every morning. My hair didn't get too damaged though. I never use a straightener anymore though.

I have tried getting my hair relaxed though. That actually worked pretty well. I tried it because in 7th grade I used to want my hair poker straight, but now I don't really care if my hair isn't perfectly straight. It's straight enough for me.

But yeah, I voted for straightening iron.

Yup that's the way to go. It's a pretty good idea to put some leave in conditioner or anything like that in your hair right after you straighten or blowdry it.

Stick your finger in a light socket? Kidding of course.

My hair is straight enough, but I'd love to get it very flat, but I'm afraid a straightening iron will damage my hair.

For people who want curly hair:

If you want curly hair, you cannot be one of those people who love to brush your hair. You CAN'T brush your hair w/ curly hair, it's physically impossible. All you get is a pile of frizz.

The only time I can get a comb through my hair is when I have conditioner in it.

Blow dryer and a round brush. It straightens my hair out.

I've been growing my hair longer the past several months, but my hair is very curly and when I went to get it cut last month the stylist straightened it by using one of those big round brushes and a dryer. I can't believe how well it works.

:o - I misread that as something else.

Yep, I do the same thing too...Well, I used to, when my hair was longer. I was doing the same thing for a while when I got a shag cut in August.

I still prefer a flat iron, though. :)

My hair is naturally Wavy and I hate it. I would love it if it were naturally curly or straight, but nope mine is right inbetween.

I straighten my hair with a blowdryer. I have one of those blowdryers with a brush attachment, so I take the blowdryer with the brush attached, and a roll-brush, and sandwich sections of my hair like that to straighten it. I don't know if this is making sense, but it works really good. Then when I'm done my hair is still alittle puffy, and to make it shiney and all that stuff, I use serum, it takes away the frizzy, puffy look. :)

My hair looks all right wavy, but only if i have it part up/part down. It's too thick to put it all up or leave it all down. Blowdrying it makes it too fluffy (plus the ends get messed up). When I have the time, I use a flat iron, and my hair is still healthy.
