Tvland should be ashamed of the awful disrespectful way they butcher edit Sanford and Son I knew they edited Sanford and Son some to take out those so-called racist words and terms that were used in the show that made for alot of funny scenes but after I got myself a DVD player and seen the uncut versions what tvland has taken out of Sanford and Son is crimminal in some shows as much as 5 minutes has been deleted Thank God for DVDS

I don't get TV Land at all,but I know that when Nick at Nite had a marathon last summer of Sanford and Son during the wee hours of the morning, they edited a bunch of shows but not entirely because of the N word or anything else.

For instance:

In the "My Fair Esther" episode, when the MC introduces Fred and Esther and he mistakenly calls Fred Ted,they delete the part where the MC mistakenly calls Fred by his middle initial P and Fred corrects him with his real initial G,and then the MC says Fred Sanford G and Fred says,"You Big Dummy!!!".They cut out a key piece of the episode when they did that.

Also,in the "Piano Movers" episode, they delete the part where Lamont looks on the windshield and finds the note the man left about the piano, they start with the man going to the door. Also, they cut out the part where Fred talks about his sacroliliac and how he got it,they go to the part where Fred says "I don't care if it hurts my back,I'll do it." They also cut out the part about Fred saying that this was a nice apartment and wished that he could live there, and Lamont tells him you couldn't live in a place like this, and Fred says the Supreme Court says I can live anywhere I want to,and then Lamont says,"You better get the Supreme Court to pay your rent. They went right to where Lamont says,"Let's get started on this."

Any other episodes besides these that they have butchered to pieces???

Im not saying the butchering was just for the N word I agree they butcher S&S for anything they feel like taking out for more of those damn promos and commercials. As far as other butchered episodes omg where do I start I guess with the worst one they did and That was Fred Sanford Legal Eagle In the first scene they took out all but the very end of the Fred and Grady playing checkers scene and we all know why they butchered the courtroom scene because of the N word which made the scene hilarious

In the episode with Julio and the survey they cut out that funny scene where Lamont and Julio have Fred trapped next to the house and make him say tio uncle in spanish

In the one where Fred and Donna were supposed to get married they cut out the whole part where Lamont and Rollo are trying to find dates Tvland has no respect for the fans of the old shows

Another episode where they butchered an episode was the very first episode, "Crossed Swords".When they showed it in 1999 on Nick at Nite for a brief time, they delete the beginning part where Fred sings "Carolina In The Morning" while cleaning the player piano. Nick at Nite/TV Land begins it with Lamont backing the pickup in.

I was just wondering if TV Land butchered the episode "Superflyer" the same way. If so,what parts do they delete out???

Oh yea, they butchered "SuperFlyer" right after Fred says to Lamont, OK, you fly--give me Jackie--I'll take the train--and we will meet you in St. Louie Dewey. TVland goes to commercial right after that and picks up where they are at the airport.

I thought that was tragic..especially when he begs Lamont not to call the airlines to make reservations and Lamont says to him..oh you will feel better once you are up in the air...and Fred says, in the air? how..high and he keeps repeating it...FUNNY!

I'm glad I have all three seasons of S&S on DVD..so I can relieve each and every moment.

Also, "Presenting The Three Degrees" was terribly edited. There was a scene that I never saw on TV when Fred talks to the girls in the kitchen...I saw that on DVD and said...where did that scene come from?

My suggestion....GET THE DVDS! YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID!

P.S. Can't wait for the 4th Season to come out! :D

I can't believe that TV Land would edit the part where Lamont tells Fred you never have been on a plane before, then Fred responds,"or a plane crash either". And then Lamont says to Fred that Fred was 66 years old,and Fred says he was going to live to be 67. And then when Lamont says that we were going to lose the opportunity to lose $1500.00 and that we wouldn't want a chance on losing this and then Fred says and also I don't want to lose this. And that's when Lamont calls the airlines and Fred goes into saying and repeating "How high are we going up" and Lamont says about 20,000-30,000 feet and then Fred says,"Ohhhhh,do you hear that Elizabeth,I am coming to join you honey in a 747!!!"

I don't know what's going on with TV Land and their editing of certain shows. I don't even get the channel and the way I hear it they edit out each and every show. That was a key portion of "The Andy Griffith Show" that they deleted out with Opie saying his prayers in the first episode. When they (Sanford and Son and Andy Griffith) were both on TBS,they showed everything, including the Sanford and Son episodes that I remember most like I remembered them. Like you said, there are some scenes on the DVD that TV Land took out and you wonder where did that scene come from. Hopefully, the rest of Sanford and Son will come out on DVD soon.

My gripe about TV Wasteland is the fact that when they do go to a break, they have to toot their own horn. I have a printed guide and an on screen guide to tell me whats coming up next but is that good enough? noooooooooooooooooooooo. I have to be told whats coming up next during the commercials plus I get that stupid banner in my screen that says up next & after that when the last set of commercials is over & to top it off, the screen is split during the credits & that idiot announcer talks over the theme song to once again tell me whats on next. TV Wasteland could easily show these episodes uncut if they would stop with the stupid self promotion.

. . . . this past weekend when they were showing the Carol Burnett Marathon. I was able to catch a few of the shows during the Carol Burnett Marathon this weekend and during one of the episodes it showed a spoof of the Waltons entitled the "Walnuts." Carol played the John-Boy Character and was called "John-Girl!" LOL!!!! :happyface :happyface  Anyway, I think it was that spot where one of the extras looked exactly like a young Joan Rivers. I was waiting until the ending credits to see if they mentioned Joan Rivers in anyway. Just as they got to the ending credits, the announcer starting to say "Also appearing in tonight's episode . . ." (or something similar to that) and before I could hear the names they split to that *%^$# split screen and did one of those "Carol Burnett Answers . . . ." Those were cute the first couple times but, my gosh!!!!, every single commercial break?!?!?

Signed,
Respectfully,
Dutch

...was another demonstration of TV Land's horrific editing.

They completely edited out Lamont saying, from outside the bank, "I forgot to tell you that my father has a heart condition."

Instead, they cut right to Al the robber saying "unless he wants a hole in the head condition, you'd better get away from there."

Unless you know the show as ridiculously well as we do on this board, a casual viewer would be wondering what the hell was going on. I don't get it.

Well you must have that episode UNCUT somewhere because it's no way you can remember a missing scene of a episode you saw 29 years ago.

Actually, I was too young for S&S 29 yrs ago! LOL

The line I was referring to was in the UPN ep. I saw *much* more recently.

----

Now go on over to the "Complete the line" & "Who are they" threads and help me out, eh? :)
