View Full Version : What Did Michael really want to be? A Lawyer or a Singer?-LOL TVFactFan 01-08-2004, 11:09 PM In the First 3 seasons, Michael focused on being a lawyer and in the last 3 seasons he was always singing on stage. What did Michael want to be?_LOL Probably both...Start out a singer, and if that does not work out, then go to Law School, take the bar exam, then become a lawyer..I can see Michael as an excellent lawyer; debating with his family on a daily basis with every topic under the sun...and always having the last word..or trying to have the last word... When you get the episode of Thelma's wedding, tell me what you thought of Michael's singing at the wedding. He seemed like he was trying to imitate Michael Jackson in Rent Party Lady T 01-08-2004, 11:33 PM Originally posted by Sitcom Analyzer When you get the episode of Thelma's wedding, tell me what you thought of Michael's singing at the wedding. Then there was another episode when Michael and three other guys were copying the Jackson 5. Michael was the lead singer and the 3 men was in the background with Afro's just like the Jacksons-LOL I guess they didn't want to copy them too much so that's why they only had 3 background singers. No defense to anyone that happens to be a fan of Michael; but I never did like him very much...I never thought seeing children or young teen-agers acting like or sounding like adults to be appealing or funny..I like seeing characters to act around their age group... But in season two his goofiness started to slowly increase while Micheal's annoyance started to slowly decrease. Willona would not have been my type of woman because she was too Ghetto. I have a DID YOU KNOW? Remember the episode I sent you Debutante Ball? Remember the Girl who played J.J girlfriend? She also played Grady's Granddaughter on the Sanford and Son Spinoff called-GRADY in 1975 Lady T 01-09-2004, 12:33 AM [QUOTE]Originally posted by Sitcom Analyzer Now it was the opposite for J.J in season one. Yes, she did..her name is Rosanne Katon and she was Miss September in 1978 for Playboy... magellan333 01-09-2004, 08:34 AM I think Ralph Carter put out a record during the 1970s. vashti1999 01-09-2004, 01:06 PM Originally posted by Sitcom Analyzer Yeah that episode is called the Judy Cohen Story. Judy Cohen Story--That episode is probably my least favorite episode of Good Times ever. But I liked everytime they had Michael sing on the show, especially the "Rent Party" episode. When he finishes the song, you see Florida's reaction, all happy, proud and excited you would think Esther Rolle was watching her real-life son performing. Well that episode was in the post James Era but Judy was very entertaining on stage in that episode. I enjoyed her performance. marvin g 01-09-2004, 09:25 PM I like Michael in the earlier episodes than the later. I think he would have made a better investigative reporter than anything! He was always reading and looking to understand the world around him! Jrnygrl 01-09-2004, 10:50 PM Originally posted by marvin g I like Michael in the earlier episodes than the later. I think he would have made a better investigative reporter than anything! He was always reading and looking to understand the world around him! Oh I agree. The character was really good. Then after James death, they seemed to take the fire out of Michael. I don't know if that was intended due to the lack of a father and motivator in the home. I also hate the fact that they tried to make him into a teen idol. vashti1999 01-09-2004, 10:52 PM Originally posted by Sitcom Analyzer Well that episode was in the post James Era but Judy was very entertaining on stage in that episode. People didn't watch Good Times to see show short, dumpy girl sing show tunes. What was that song she sang? Send In The Clowns? They sent in the clowns when she took the stage. I will admit she was a little hard to look at but she sung the hell out of SEND IN THE CLOWN.LOL TVFactFan 01-09-2004, 11:12 PM Originally posted by Jrnygrl Oh I agree. The character was really good. By the 3rd season he was no longer the Militant Midget MsMaia 01-11-2004, 03:43 PM Originally posted by Sitcom Analyzer THe fire was taken out of Michael in mid season 2. He was more like a tag-along than a main cast member. I grew tired of him quickly. magellan333 01-12-2004, 12:39 AM His album was titled "When You're Young and in Love" Lady T 01-12-2004, 12:51 AM Originally posted by magellan333 His album was titled "When You're Young and in Love" I guess that was a very popular thing to do back in the 1970's for sitcoms stars to release an album... As far as Michael concentrating on singing more than becoming a lawyer...so what! So he discovered that he loved singing a bit more than studying law. He was 11 years old, remember. Nobody here has ever changed their minds growing up? Yes he was a character on a SITCOM, but he represents true human form. Hell...I wanted to be a detective when I was about the same age. By the time I got to college, I changed my mind five times and settled for freelance writer. Why? Because I discovered writing was more my passion than being a detective. Growing up is all about discovering yourself.:music: MsMaia 01-13-2004, 04:24 PM Originally posted by Mrs. R.N.HARRIS Welcome Back:wave: Thanks :) marvin g 01-13-2004, 09:50 PM Originally posted by Mrs. R.N.
