This is our version of why CD left (and why she comes back...)


CD had just gotten out of the hospital and Nate was all freaked out about almost loosing her, so he asked her to move in with him. CD agreed to that but they decided to take it slow and she stayed in the guestbedroom for now. He didn't mind... they could never have sex and he wouldn't care...

A couple of months went by, and one morning CD woke up and felt horribly sick. She dashed to the bathroom and puked her guts out, hoping Nate wouldn't wake up. She had been feeling sick rather often the last couple of weeks and Nate was fussing over her and tried to get her to see a doctor, but of course she wouldn't go.

Nate got up a little while later and asked her if she was sick again.

"Nope. Just woke up early." She lied and made him breakfast.

He didn't think anymore about it and ate breakfast.

CD continued to feel sick and they got a case where one of the witnesses happened to be a GYN... and CD got sick while she was questioning her... Nate was still oblivious to what was going on, sitting at the division, doing paperwork.

Having seen plenty of cases like that before the GYN convinced CD to take a pregnancy test and then told her the shocking result, that she was going to be a mom.

After having found out CD returned and sat down at her desk, lost in thoughts.

"So what did you find out?" Nate spoke up.

"What?" She asked him shocked. "How the hell do you know that I found out something?!?"

"Well she was a key witness..." Giving her a weird look he frowned.

CD realized he didn't mean what SHE had found out and nervously laughed. "Good point... well..." She gave him the facts about the case.

They went home that night and Nate went to take a shower and asked if she wanted to join... as usual for them...

"Not right now." She said, lost in thoughts

"Ok..." he went and had his shower.

CD kept on thinking about her baby and wondered what to do. She didn't want to get rid of it but didn't know if she and Nate were ready yet. And she was scared to tell him.

Nate got dressed and went back to CD... CD smiled at him and then checked her watch. "Oh crap! I gotta go again! I promised Jinny to meet her tonight!" She lied because she needed to be alone some more. She pretty much was out of the door before Nate could say as much as 'bye'.

"Uuhhh ok..." He watched after her perplexed.

She was gone one hour... two hours... three hours... he tried her cell but she never answered... and the fourth and fifth hours rolled by... so he tried Jinny but she said her and CD weren't even supposed to meet.

Eventually at 3 am CD came home again and tried to sneak inside.

Nate was waiting up for her... "Where the hell have you been?!"

"I told you I was with Jin!" She got defensive immediately.

"No you weren't...I called her!" He glared at her.

"You WHAT? Now you don’t trust me anymore or what?" She yelled.

"Well I don't know!... you just leave and don't even tell me where tou are going... how long you are going to be gone... what the hell am I supposed to do!" He yelled back.

"Trust me and not snoop around!" She was furious.

"I don't know if I can trust you now...." He looked at her hurt.

"Fine,then don't!" She couldn’t believe he didn’t trust her.

"Fine!..." He glared at her now.

"Fine!" She yelled again and then stormed off to bed.

He stormed off to bed too....

She knew CD loved Nate and figured she was planning a surprise or something. CD then went to her GYN, for and ultrasound and stuff... and Jinny went downtown to a victoria's secret store, wanting to buy something nice to surprise Teddy...

Nate just sat home unaware of what CD was really doing... but he started to wonder about all this alone time she needed. He then called Jinny just to see if CD really was with her...

"Exstead?" She answered her phone.

"Hey Jin... this is Nate... is CD with you?" He asked.

"Yeah of course... she uhhh... she went to the restroom..." Jinny had a lot of practice from covering up for Mag's affairs...

"Ok...just checking...bye...." He hung up again.

"Phew" She said as she hung up again.

Nate was still suspious but just went on to bed like he usually did...

There was an emergency for the doc and CD had to stay a lot longer than expected.

At home Nate got up and wondered why she was still gone.

Jinny got worried when CD wasn't there when she was supposed to pick her up again and she drove to CD and Nate's, thinking she probably went home already, rather pissed that CD had forgotten about her.

Nate saw Jinny pull up and figured CD was with her...

Jinny decided that if CD wasn't home yet she didn't wanna get Nate suspicious, so she got out her cellphone and called their number and Nate answered.

"Hi... uhhh... this is Stephanie Smith." Jinny disguised her voice, or tried to at least. "I went to highschool with CD, can I talk to her please?"

"Uhh... she isn't here... can I take a message?" Nate wondered why that voice sounded somewhat familiar.

"What do you mean she isn't there?!? Then where the hell is she?" Jinny blurted out, forgetting to disguise her voice now.

"**** Jinny!... I thought she was with you!?" He recognized her now.

'Damn!' Jinny thought and just hung up and drove off again, hoping CD would be there now... and she was and Jinny drove her home again.

Nate of course started grilling her when she came in the door...

"Hey baby." CD smiled at him, all happy because she had gotten surprising news and seen her babies for the first time.

"Don't ****ing hey baby me...." He yelled.

"Whoa... what the hell is your problem?" She frowned.

"You!" He was furious.

"What????" That pissed her off and she forgot all about her plans to tell him about the pregnancy.

"I know." She sighed. "And I'm sorry about that... you're right... something did happen... and I have no idea how to tell you..." She swallowed.

"Tell me what?" He got real scared now.

"I... I... I'm going through some difficult changes at the moment..." She just couldn't get the words 'pregnant' or 'baby' over her lips.

Nate was confused...."changes?"

"Yeah... ya know... changes... life is full of changes.." She said.

"Like menopause???" he asked knowing she was still way too young for that.

She blinked at him shocked at that. "You're such a jerk!"

"Well thats the only changes I can think of!" He defended himself.

"Then you're an even bigger ***** than I always thought you are!" She was pissed more and more with everything he said.

"Oh you think I’m a *****?...then why the hell are you with me?" He got upset about being insulted.

"You know what? I'm starting to wonder that myself! The sex isn't all that great anymore either!" She yelled straight into his face.

"What!?!?!?!?!" He was shocked about that.

"I'm hungry." She said and went to the kitchen.

He just sat on the bed pissed off while CD fixed herself some dinner. Then he walked in there and got something to drink... just ignoring her... CD ignored him too. Finally he broke the silence... "Would you at least tell my what kind of changes you are going through? I would really like to know..."

"Nothing you have to worry about." She said, making a decision. "Since all you ever think about is yourself anyways."

He just rolled his eyes and left the room... she had just gotten impossible to talk to anymore...

CD finished her food and started to pack her stuff.

He noticed her packing... "What’s going on?"

"I'm packing." She stated the obvious.

"You need more ‘alone time’..." He sighed.

"Yes. Have you seen my Madonna CD? I want that." She tried to continue to ignore him.

"I saw it earlier lying around... so how long are you going to be gone?" He wished she wouldn’t go.

"I won't come back." She said.

"What?!?!?" He asked shocked.

"I said I won't come back." She found the CD and tossed it into her suitcase. "I'm leaving you."

"Wait a minute! ...we love each other... we can work this out..." He got really scared now.

"No we can't." She sighed. "Not this time. I have to go."

He called after her as she left. "CD you can't do this to me!"

She swallowed and turned around once more and hugged him tightly. "Promise me something Nate."

Tears streamed down his face. "What?"

"Take good care of Jinny, Kate and Raina... they need someone strong they can always count on."

"You are leaving the Division too????" He felt like his worst nightmare was coming true.

"I have to." She couldn't hold back her own tears anymore because she loved him so much, but she had to go for the babies.

“CD, I love you...please give me another chance..." He begged.

"I wish I could." She whispered. "But I need to go."

"I thought I was all you needed..." He sobbed.

"You used to be..." She whispered and looked down guiltily.

"Tell me what you need... what am I doing wrong?...please!" He would do anything to make her stay.

"You know what I need...." She swallowed.

"No I don't...." He didn’t have a clue.

"That alone time...." She whispered. "Except that I won't be all that alone..." With that she grabbed her stuff and left him behind.

He knew she had found someone else... he went back to his room and cried his eyes out...

CD stayed at a hotel that night, crying like never before in her life, in the next morning she quit her job way before any of the others arrived for work...

Nate took alot of time off during the following three years... he couldn't go to work...it made him think of CD... Raina was now his partner... he became bitter after CD left... not the nice guy he used to be... Lily was now living with him... he didn't love her but he figured what the hell CD isn't coming back and he needed someone to lay...

One day he and Raina had an assignment and they had to go to one of the best PI firms of the city, because they had found out that apparently they had been working on the same case already.

CD meanwhile had established herself as successful private investigator and was working for the hottest firm in town, she was one of the partners and making big bucks... One day her babysitter was sick so she took her two kids, Nathan and Nalany with her to work.

Raina and Nate entered the firm... Nate knew exactly where to go after he asked the receptionist, so he went straight there... he never let Raina do much talking... so she just kind followed behind...

Nathan was a lot like his daddy and had decided he really had to play with his mom's purse right now... he had found a condom in there, since CD carried some around now... whenever she wanted sex she'd screw one of the guys at the firm, depending on whatever she felt like, but she just used them in any way she wanted. "Hold on a sec." She said to the person on the phone. "Nathan give that back! That isn't a toy!" She said rather loudly.

"Wow Mommy I didn't know you kept baloons in your purse..." He had opened the wrapper already and saw what a kid would see in it.

"I wanna balloon!" Nalany started to cry and the client CD was talking to started to complain again too.

"That isn't a..." She had to talk to the guy on the phone again. "No sir, I can assure you that we do not work for your wife as well, hang on just a second please." She turned to her kids again and figured 'what the hell... they want balloons, they'll get balloons' and turned two condoms into a balloon for each of them and then talked to the guy again.

Nathan hopped off the desk and walked around the firm with his new baloon... Raina saw him and asked where he got it from... "My mommy!... Nally has one too! You wanna see?" he drug Raina over to show her his sisters balloon...

Nally waved at her brother's new friend and showed off her balloon when CD ended her phonecall and realized her kids had wandered off again. "Oh no!" She sighed and left her office and saw them in the hallway, talking to a black woman that looked somewhat familiar, though she only saw her from the back. "Come on guys! Didn't I tell you to stay in my office?" She sighed and picked them up and then turned to the woman. "I'm so sorry... they're just so wild..."

"CD!" Raina exclaimed surprised.

"Raina!' She smiled, recognizing her now. Then she chuckled when they got strange looks. "No one actually calls me CD anymore..." She explained. She had changed a lot, her hair had grown rather long and she had a fancy hairdo, was wearing expensive designer stuff, skirt, high heels... she was all buisness like.

She hugged CD... "Well what do they call you!?"

"Boss." She laughed.

"Oh...wow!...you look great!" Raina grinned.

"Thanks, so do you!" She smiled at her. "What are you doing here?"

"Mommy I'm hungry!" Nally started to play with a strand of CD's her. She looked exactly like her mommy while Nathan looked just like his daddy.

“Mommy!?" Raina got one surprise after the other it seemed.

She grinned proudly and nodded. "Yeah. Those little devils here are mine." She grinned at them. "Nathan and Nalany. They're twins."

"Oh well I've already met them... nice balloons by the way... and speaking of Nathans... mine is around here somewhere..." Raina grinned.

"You have a kid too? Wow, congrats!” CD smiled. "And as for the balloons... well they wanted balloons and that was the closest thing I had." She chuckled.

"oh No... no kids..." she laughed... "Nice comprimise though..."

CD laughed. "You want a coffee?"

"Sure... I'll be right back though...." She said and walked away.

"Okay." She smiled.

Raina went back and found Nate... he had finished talking to who had handled the case. "Hey I just ran into an old friend... you wanna come have coffee with us?" Raina knew their history but she thought after all this time the wounds were healed and it would be nice for them to see each other.

"Well I need to get back to work..." Nate said.

"Oh come on...its just coffee...." Raina whined.

Nate agreed and they headed to CD’s office.

When Raina knocked on the door CD was just ordering the coffee from her secretary over the phone, and she ordered chocolate milk and cookies for the kids.

Nathan was lying in a chair with his feet hanging over the arms... kicking them back and forth... Nalany was quietly playing with her dolls... Raina opened the door... her and Nate entered... Nate looked at CD and had to do a double take...

CD was as surprised to see who Raina's 'kid' was and gulped and just stared at him.

"Uhh....hey...CD...." He managed to regain his composure somewhat.

"Candace..." She said. "No one calls me CD anymore... that's not serious enough for a name for someone in my position..." She explained, not realizing she sounded like a complete bitch.

"Oh Im sorry...CANDACE...." He rolled his eyes.

"Well...." Raina said, feeling the tension.

"Well..." CD said and her secretary, a very sexy guy, walked in and served the coffee.

"Ma'am, your driver is there too... he's ready to take you to your 2 pm appointment with the mayor, before that pressconference..." He started.

"Cancel it." CD said.

"But I can't..." He wanted to protest but CD cut him off again.

"I don't care... I said cancel it! Or send someone else, I'm busy." With that she dismissed him again.

Nate saw the kids but didn't think anything about them... he just couldn't believe that was CD standing in front of him.... "So you are in charge here??"

"Well there are two senior partners, but they're pretty much retired." She nodded. "And that leaves me in charge, yeah."

"Mooooooooooooooooommmmmyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!" The kids whined, wanting their cookies.

"Mommy???" Nate asked probably even more shocked than Raina had been.

She answered though. "Yeah those are CD's... I mean Candace's twins..."

"My babysitter bailed on me today..." She explained and handed them what they wanted. "Careful, don't... spill it." She sighed when it was too late for her warning already.

“Sorry Mommy..." Nally replied.

"It's okay." She smiled and kissed her daughter.

Raina sat down... Nate didn't have anywhere to sit because Nathan was still laying down in the other chair... eating his cookie... "You're gonna choke buddy..." Nate told the young boy who was craming his face.

CD picked him up and sat them both into her lap. "So how can I help you guys?" She asked Nate and Raina, all buisnesslike, trying to pretend Nate was just some old friend and not her kid's father.

"Oh I already got it all taken care of..." Nate replied.

"Well and what would that be?" CD wanted to know.

"How have you been ???" Raina asked.

"Busy." She smiled. "With the kids and the job..."

"We had this case... this women killed her husband after a PI got some photos of him cheating... anyway... we were just seeing if this was the firm the hired the PI from..." He shrugged. "So you have kids?..." he continued.

"Was it? What case was that?" She asked, shuffling through some files as the twins hopped off her lap again. "Well yeah, they're not fuzzy enough to be kittens."

"Oh... how old are you?" he asked the little girl... it didn't even cross his mind that they could be his... he figured CD married the guy she left him for and got her tubes un-tied...

"Oh the Mary Johnson case..." Raina told her.

"Three and a half!" Nally exclaimed proudly, showing him three fingers.

"And I'm five minutes older!" Nathan insisted on stating that.

"Really?...wow!...what are your names?" He smiled at them.

"I knew that woman was trouble..." CD said and handed Raina the file... or rather 'accidently dropped it' in front of Raina's feet. "Oops..."

"I'm Nalany. But everybody calls me Nally." The girl grinned at Nate.

"Wow thats a pretty name! What about you, little guy?" Nate smiled back.

"Tell me yours and I'll tell you mine!" He grinned, liking that guy immensely.

"Hmmmm... Spiderman... but don't tell anyone... some people call me Nate though..." He winked at him.

He laughed and then his eyes got real wide cause he knew he was named after his daddy. “MOMMY!!!!" He exclaimed excited and pointed at Nate. "He said his name is..."

CD cut him off. "Spiderman, yeah I heard it." She realized what was going on and knew she had to step in between now, while Raina was busy reading the file.

"No no no, he said that..." Nathan wanted to make his mom understand what he just found out.

CD cut him off. "Shut up, I said I heard it!" She gave him a stern look.

"But isn't he our..." Nally spoke up but CD glared at them both.

"I said shut up! Go play with your balloons... hush!" She made sure they would stay quiet now.

"Wow... nice parenting... uhhh..." he saw the condoms. "Nice balloons too..."

CD glared at him. "How I raise my kids is none of your damn buisness!"

He rolled his eyes and watched the kids play... "She looks just like you...."

CD smiled. "Everybody says that."

"So what is his name?" Nate continued to watch... thinking about how if him and CD would have stayed together... they could have been his...

CD was saved by the bell, or rather by a knock when her secretary walked in again. "I just arranged something with the mayor... the press conference will be here, but he insisted on you being there. Just ten minutes... everything is set up already."

She sighed and looked at Nate and Raina. "I'm so sorry, but I gotta go do that... could you watch them for ten minutes please?"

"Sure!" Raina said and continued looking at the file.

"Thanks." CD smiled at them, kissed her kids, made them promise to be good and then left.

Since Raina was pre-occupied Nate began to talk to the kids. "So where is your Daddy at?"

Nally shrugged. "We dunno him... mommy doesn't like to talk about him."

"He doesn't live with you?" He asked.

"No, just mommy, me and Nally live together." Nathan said. "Well and Tommy."

"Who’s Tommy?Mommy's boyfriend?" He assumed.

Nally giggled. "No, our cat! Mommy doesn't really have a boyfriend..."

"Actually she has three." Nathan said. "I think..." At least he had seen her with three guys before.

Nate sighed. CD had became a slut. He got on the floor with them and began to show them magic tricks with a quarter...

CD returned twenty minutes later and smiled at how Nate was playing with his kids.

"Ok its your turn to be the bad guy!" Nate told Nathan... they were now playing cops and robbers and Nathan loved to be the cop...

"Havin fun?” CD grinned.

"Oh hey... you back?" He grinned as well.

CD grinned still and just glanced at Raina, who grinned broadly, standing in front of the copy machine, trying to hide that she was copying the file.

CD laughed. "If you need new paper it's in that desk over there." She then winked at Nathan and kicked off her shoes and sat down next to them. "Can I play too?"

"Sure... this kid won't let me be a cop though!" Nate complained.

CD laughed. "Well you get to be a cop all day long anyways."

"Well I’m a princess!... I help Nathan catch spiderman..." Nally exclaimed... Nate didn't realize what she had said because they had both jumped onto him...

CD grinned. "And what am I?"

"Hmmmmm" Nally thought. "Can't we play family? I'll be the mommy, Nate is the daddy and you're the kids..." She wasn't specifying who she meant but she was talking about her brother.

"Ok... Son go to sleep now!" Nate scooped Nathan into his arms.

"Im the Daddy silly!" Nathan giggled.

"****!" Raina exclaimed when the machine started beeping and blinking like crazy. CD jumped up to check on that...

"Well Nally said I was the Daddy!" Nate told him.

"Nooooo... she said I was the Daddy, Spiderman!" Nathan knew he was right.

"Uh huh." Nally nodded. "He's the daddy!" She pointed at her brother.

"Oh... I thought you said Nate..." He was pretty sure himself about that.

"Well d'oh!" She giggled.

"But thats me!" The kids giggled hystarically at how confused Nate was gettting.

CD helped Raina finish with the file and they walked up to them again. "Nate, I think we should head back to the division... I got big news here..." CD had pointed something out to her and basically solved the case for her.

"Aww do we have to?" Nate said and got up.

"Sorry pal..." Raina patted his shoulder. She felt bad... this was the first time she had really seen him happy since they had been partners...

"Are you gonna come back?" Nathan asked his new friend.

"Wwell I dunno..." He looked at CD.

"I don't think that'd be such a good idea." CD said.

"I guess not Buddy...." Nate was sad... he loved kids... he figured he would end up having some with Lily.

"Hey, it was nice to see you again... say hi to the others, okay?" CD hugged Raina, who promised to do that.

Nate gave the kids hugs goodbye... they both said "Bye Spiderman..." with sad looks on their faces...

It was breaking CD's heart to watch that but she'd rather have hers broken than put her kids through that.

"Sooooooooo...." Raina grinned at Nate in the car. "CD has kids..."

"Yeah... that’s just weird... but I always told her she would make a great Mom..." He sighed.

"She is." Raina smiled and giggled. "I can't believe she gave them condoms though!"

Nate hissed at that. "Yeah... nice example to be setting..."

She frowned. "What do you mean?" She was sure the kids wouldn't know the difference... for them that were balloons... it was just funny for adults.

"Yeah but still... anyway... what was the boy’s name? I don't think CD ever told me...” He really wanted to know that.

"Nathan!" Raina giggled again.

"What?" He frowned.

"Huh?" Raina frowned as well.

"You said my name..." Nate rolled his eyes.

"I said her son's name..." She corrected.

"His name is Nathan???" That shocked him.

She nodded. "Yep..." She grinned. "And they're a little more than 3 years old..." Smirking she looked over at her partner. "Now let me count back..."

"Count back??? What are you talking about???" He glared at her.

"D'oh Nate... you lived with her when she got pregnant..." Now Raina stated what seemed obvious to her.

He still didn’t see it though. "There is no way... her tubes were tied..."

Raina shrugged.

"WHAT?!?” She couldn’t believe that.

"Yeah..." He sighed, still hurt about it.

"No way!" They arrived at the Division and Raina right away saw Jinny and told her the news, who was in the lobby on her way to grab some food. "Nate thinks CD cheated on him!"

"What!? Come on Nate..." Jinny couldn’t believe that either even though she had helped CD sneak off.

"She left me for another man..." He hung his head down defeated.

"He's insane!" Raina rolled her eyes and then grinned at Jinny. "You should see her kids! They're so cute!"

"CD has kids!?" That shocked Jinny more.

"Twins." Raina nodded. "And no one calls her CD anymore... Candace is a big boss now."
She laughed. "And riiiiiiiich."

"Whoa... doesn't sound like the CD I knew... why didn't you tell us she had kids Nate?" Jinny smiled at him.

"I didn't know! She left me... remember?" All this talking about CD and her kids pissed him off.

"Well she has two three and a half year old kids... Nally and NATHAN" Raina glared at Nate.

Upon hearing that Jinny came to the same conclusion that Raina had drawn. "Nathan! Wow....you’re a Daddy! That’s weird..."

"I’m not their Daddy..." He glared at her.

"Alright, if they're not your kids, why did she name her son after you?" Raina asked.

"I have no clue..." He shrugged it off.

"He looks just like you!" Raina muttered.

"Nate! You mean it didn't even cross your mind that those kids are yours!?" Jinny looked at him like he was the dumbest thing in creation.

"If they were mine I think CD wouldn't have left..." He answered.

At that moment Kate walked up to them. "Why in the world is a stretchlimosine parked in front of my division?"

"Ooh maybe its someone famous!" Jinny laughed.

They all rushed to see what was going on and saw how the driver opened the door and CD stepped out... she walked up to Raina, smiling and handed her all the stuff she had 'secretly' copied. "I think you forgot this Inspector..."

"Hey CD!..." Jinny exclaimed.

"Jin." She smiled. "And Kate" She hugged her old friends.

"Where are your kids?" Nate asked rather rudely.

She motioned towards the limosine. "Watching cartoons."

"Can we see them!?" Jinny asked.

Kate still looked at her shocked. "Would somebody fill me in here?"

"CD has two kids..." While Raina filled Kate in on everything CD went back to the limo and got the twins and walked up to them again, carring each kid in each arm.

"Spiderman!" They both yelled when they saw Nate.

CD introduced Kate and Jinny to them as well.

"Wow... she looks just like you CD! And this litle guy looks like Nate..." Jinny gave Nate a look.

"How'd ya know my name?" Nathan asked amazed.

CD blushed big time. "I uhhh... I just wanted to drop that file... we gotta get going again..."

"Ok... it was nice seeing you..." Jinny hugged her.

"Yeah it was." She smiled. "I hope you're all doing great." CD hugged her back as much as she could manage with the kids. "By the way, where's Magda?"

"Oh she's around here somewhere... probably with Stacy..." Kate pointed at the doors.

"Whoever that is..." CD laughed and her cellphone started to ring. "Damn... excuse me..." She looked at the kids in her arms and realized she didn't have a free hand to answer it.

Nate grabbed Nalany...

"Thanks." CD smiled at him and then handed Nathan over as well because he wanted to go to spiderman too. She stepped away from them a little and answered the phone.

Nate examined them both... seeing if maybe what Jinny and Raina were saying could be true...

"I sure am..." He nodded, noticing the boy did look like him when he was that age...

Nally giggled. "That tickles."

"I thought we were never going to see you again! I’m glad we came here!" Nathan told Nate.

"I’m glad you came.,." he told his son and then he bounced Nally. "You sure are a quiet little girl..."

She blushed a little. "No I'm not!"

Then CD rushed up to them again and took the kids back. "I gotta run, something important came up."

"Well I need to talk to you... is there somewhere I can reach you?" Nate told CD... he was starting to get suspicious...

"No." She said and put the kids back into the car. She was getting along just fine without him.

"Why not?!" He followed her persistantly.

"Because I don't want it." She wanted to get into the car herself.
"Please... it’s really imortant..." Now he begged.

"Yeah so is my new case. I gotta go." She was acting as bitchy as she could.

He sighed and watched them leave. "What am I thinking? Those aren't my kids..." he thought to himself.

Jinny literally kicked his ass. "You damn idiot!"

"What!?" He glared at her.

She rolled her eyes and sighed. "I gotta go and find my partner..."

Him and Raina walked to the bullpen.

Raina sighed. "What did you do to her that was so terrible that she left you with your kids?"

"Nothing... and those aren't my kids... they must be the guy she left me for kids..." He tried to convince himself as well.

"Yeah of course..." Raina rolled her eyes.

Later that night CD had a date with a guy she had been seeing for a while now. Josh arrived to CD's to take her to a fancy dinner he got them tickets to... CD couldn't get a babysitter that night though...

"Why aren't you dressed for the dinner?" He asked after she opened her door.

"Because I can't go." She sighed and kissed his cheek. "I couldn't find a babysitter..." She stroked her hand over his chest. "But we can order pizza... watch a movie... put the kids to bed..."

"Uh no... we are going to that dinner... you better find somewhere for your kids to go... or leave them here... I don't care... you just better hurry up..." He sounded angry.

She sighed. "Fine... I'll call the nanny and ask if she can come over again."

"And hurry up and get dressed... we are already late..." He yelled after her.

"Fine, give me five minutes." CD said and called her nanny while she was getting dressed.

He waited for CD... then he called out to her "Will you hurry?! These damn kids are giving me a headache!" They were playing hide and seek all around him.

That pissed her off and she walked up to him and glared at him. "Don't you dare talk about my kids like that!"

"Dont you dare talk to me like that! Now get your ass dressed!" He glared back at her.

"You know what? I think you better get your ass out of here!" She pointed to the door.

"What!" he smacked her... right in front of her kids.., wanting to show he was the boss,..

CD wanted to hit him back immediately but resisted the urge in front of the kids. She just glared at him, calm and collected. "I said I think you should leave now..."

"No! Now I will do it again if you do not hurry up and get ready for dinner..." He raised his hand to threaten her.

The nanny arrived and CD told her to take the kids to their room. She then turned back to Josh again. "I told you to leave! And I swear if I have to make you, I will!"

He tried to act all nice now... since the nanny was there. “Come on Candace... you are just under stress... let’s got to dinner..."

She glared at him. "I'm under stress?!? You just HIT me!"

The Nanny heard that. "Uhh maybe I should take the kids for a drive..."

CD nodded. "Good idea. The driver's waiting downstairs anyways."

The Nanny got the kids and took them down to the car... immediately the kids started telling the nanny about Josh hitting their mommy... they immediatly knew who they needed to rescue her...

The nanny thought they were just kids and told them that there was no spiderman and that their mommy could defend herself...

CD meanwhile glared at Josh. "Now get the hell out of here or I swear I'll calll the cops!"

"Oh just try calling the cops... I'll hurt you and those brats!" He hit her again to prove his point.

"No one is ever going to hurt my kids!" She yelled, not giving a damn about herself.

The kids went to the driver and asked him if he could take them to their Mommy's friends at the SGFD... they remembered their Mom telling the driver that... he laughed because he knew what they were talking about and drove there...

"I will if you do not do what I tell you!" With that he reached for a photo of the kids and smashed it to the ground.

CD for the first time got really scared, not wanting that her kids would get hurt. "Let's go to dinner..." They left for dinner...

Nate meanwhile had went back to work because Lily had been bugging him...

The kids pretty much dragged their nanny along to Nate.

Nate saw them... "What are you two doing here?? And where is your Mommy?"

They started to sob and told him about that bad man.

"Uhh... you can leave them with me... I’m a cop... and a friend of their Mom's... I'll take care of this..." he told the Nanny... he asked the kids where their mom was... they told him some dinner with tickets... He knew there was the mayor's dinner tonight so he drove them there...

CD had covered the bruise up with make-up and was pretending to have a great time.

Nate ran inside with the kids in his arms... "CD!" He called when he saw her.

Everybody turned at him, and no one knew why he was calling out 'cd'. But CD looked at him and the kids.

"They told me what happend..." he said walking up to her.

She glanced at Josh. "I have no idea what you mean."

"Who is this guy???" Josh asked.

"Im a cop...." Nate answered.

"I thought I told you what would happen if you got the cops envolved..." he glared at CD.

"He's just an old friend." CD said and glared at Nate. "Go home again and stop playing superhero!"

"No CD... I know he hit you... your kids saw it..." He looked at her pleadingly.

"I can deal with that myself." She glared at Nate.

Nally started to sob and ran to her momma and wanted to be picked up, so CD lifted her up, and then Nally spit into her little hand and wiped some makeup away to reveal the bruise.

"See Spiderman!? That’s where he hit her..." Nathan told him.

CD nodded, deciding that it was time to stop being such a bitch. "Yes he did." She said and looked at Nate. "I'd like to file an assault report."

"Ok come on..." Nate guided her to his car... he still had Nathan in his arms...

CD was carrying Nally and turned around scared. "Nate, he said he'd hurt the kids!" She whispered to him scared.

"I won't let him hurt them..." he assured her. "Let’s go down to the division..."

She followed him, taking Nathan from him, and holding them close to her.

They got into the car and he drove to the Division. "Why did he hit you?"

"I told him I wouldn't go to dinner with him because I couldn't find a babysitter." CD answered.

"I can't believe you would let a guy treat you like that..." He sighed.

"What was I supposed to do? Hit him back in front of my kids? To show them that it's okay to beat around whenever you feel like it? I was kicking him out until he threatened to hurt them.

He sighed. "Oh ok... do you think this guy is really dangerous?"

"Well he's a security guard..." She shrugged.

"Oh... do you have someone you can stay with tonight? Or at least let Nathan and Nalany go to their Dad’s...." He suggested.

"We don't know our daddy!" Nally piped in.

"Oh..." Nate gave CD a look. "Well where else can they go?"

CD bit her lower lip. "I don't want to leave them alone."

"Ok... but you don't need to stay at your house..." He tried again.

She shook her head. "No way. We're staying at home! I'm not letting that bastard drive us away from there!"

"Well then I’m going to have a uniformed officer posted at your house..." He said determined.

She nodded. "Okay, fine."

They arrived to the station... he held the kids as CD filed a report...

that was GRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT you two!!!!!!!!!!!

But instead of a uniformed cop stand guard, couldn't a plain clothes Inspector do the job??? ;)

After they were done with the report CD took the kids home and brought them to bed... once they were sound asleep she walked out to the cop. "Isn't it cold here?"

"Yeah a little... but you make it warmer..." he winked at her.

She chuckled. "Well ya know... you could come inside for a coffee... to warm yourself up..."

"Ok..." The officer followed her inside.

CD made coffee and smiled at him. "Since when are you a cop?"

"2 years..." He grinned.

"Wow a rookie." She chuckled.

"Yeah... Nate said you used to be his partner..." He smiled at her.

"Yeah." She nodded. "I'm a PI now though."

"Oh... I bet that is fun work..." He grinned.

"It's a lot alike... we can't make arrests, but we can act even though there are just suspicions and no evidences yet... we actually hardly ever have 'my wife is cheating on me' cases" She chuckled.

"Oh... that’s all I figured you have..." He laughed.

"It depends on where you work... the firm where I work is pretty upscale... we do a lot of stuff for the mayor actually. Or other high profile things." She explained.

"Oh I see..." He nodded.

"Well..." CD handed him a coffee.

"Well..." he smirked at her.

She smirked back and took a sip of her coffee.

He did the same. "I’m getting warmed up...."

"Good." She smiled. "I'm feeling a lot safer with you here..."

"You should..." He was glad to hear that.

She sat down on the couch and patted next to her.

"So...” She looked around.

"So..." he put his hand on her thigh.

She smiled. "You wanna make sure I'm extremely protected huh?"

“Well... it IS my duty..." He stroked her thigh, towards her crotch, making it obvious what he wanted.

"Good point." She smiled.

"Are your kids asleep...?" He asked and slipped his hand under her dress now.

She nodded. "Sound asleep, they had a long day."

"Oh that’s good..." He grinned.

She nodded. "You wanna check if someone broke into the bedroom?"

"That’s probably a good idea..." Of course he didn’t say no to that offer.

"Wouldn't want a stalker under my bed..." She smiled and got up.

"Don't worry... I'll make sure your bed it safe..." They walked up to her bedroom...

"Don't worry... I'll make sure your bed it safe..." They walked up to her bedroom...

"Oh I don't doubt it..." She led him in there and locked the door behind them.

They immediatly got into the bed... and did the dirty...

Suddenly they heard something coming through the window...

"Hey... stop!" CD pushed him off her. "Did you hear that?"

"Let’s just ignore it..." He tried to get on top of her again.

"Like hell I will ignore that someone just broke into my home!" She glared at him.

Sighing he got up and went to the noise... it was josh... the officer hit and cuffed him... he called Nate because Nate said if the guy came to call him... Nate quickly left for CD's.

CD got dressed into a robe while Josh was of course pissed because she had been screwing someone else already. He kept on calling her slut and bitch and stuff... when Nate arrived the kids greeted him. "Spiderman? What's a slut?" Nally asked.

"Uhhh..." he was thinking ‘your mommy...’ but of course he didn't say it. The officer was in his boxers, so it was pretty obvious why that other guy was throwing such a fit.

CD saw the kids were awake. "Come on, go back to bed... the show is over." She told them.

Nate told the officer to go on and take Josh in...

CD handed him his uniform. "You might want this..."

Nate mumbled under his breath and sat on CD's couch...

CD looked at him. "What?"

"Nothing..." He rolled his eyes.

"Fine... well that guy is arrested... thanks." She said, all attitude again.

"It’s real nice that you **** some strange guy with your kids in the next room..." He couldn’t stop himself from saying that.

"First of all they were across the hallway and the door was locked..." She glared at him.

He cut her off, not wanting to hear more. "Well anway... could we atleas talk now? I mean I haven't seen you in four years...."

"What do you want to talk about?" She asked innocently.

"I dunno...why you left like you did..." He said.

She shrugged. "I had to."

"But why? I thought things were great between us..." His voice sounded hurt still.

"Well something happened..." She trailed off, looking to the ground.

He sighed. "You found someone else?"

"Well kind of... they came to me though." CD looked at the broken picture.

"So you got your tubes un-tied and had his kids? Why couldn't you have done that with me? I thought we were in love..." He was really upset.

"Damn you Nate!" She yelled at him. "They are your kids!"

"What!?..." he looked at her shocked... really having thought that couldn’t be.

"I left because you said you didn't want kids." She finally admitted.

"Of course I said that! You had your tubes tied and I didn't want you to leave because I wanted them!" He explained.

"Well they came untied and you got me pregnant and I didn't want to force the kids on you." She couldn’t believe he had lied about that.

He stood up and shouted at her. "I can't believe you have kept this from me!"

"YOU told me you didn't want kids!" She yelled at him. "I figured I'd better go if I wanted to keep them!"

"Well YOU said you didn't want them! I was just saying what I thought you would want to hear!" He yelled back.

"Well ****, then you should have just said what you wanted and we'd be a family now!” It hurt her incredibly to imagine what could have been.

"Oh so its my fault you were a bitch and left me! I missed my kids’ birth... I missed three years of their life!” He glares at her. “Because of YOU!"

"YOU said you didn't want them!" She yelled at him. "And you know what? We're doing just great without you! So why don't you go back home to your little bitch?!"

"You know what!? I would much rather be with her... she would never do this to me!" He yelled.

"Great! Then go back to her!" She pointed at her door.

Nate stormed off and went home....

CD slumped down on the ground and cried her eyes out as soon as he was out the door.

Nate went home and told Lily about his kids... she told him CD was probably just lying so her kids would have a father...

CD slept in bed with her kids that night, holding them close.

Nate took Lily's advice... the next morning he called CD to ask for a peternity test...

"You want a WHAT?" She couldn’t believe it.

"A paternity test..." He repeated.

"They hate needles!" She didn’t like that at all.

"I do too... but I have to know..." He said.

"You know what Nate? Just forget it! We don't need you, I don't want money or whatever from you, so just forget I ever told you!" She yelled into the phone.

“But I have a right to know my kids! Now I’m going to get a court order for one if you say no..." He was serious about that.

"Alright fine. Let's go torture the kids!" She yelled and slammed the phone down angrily.

Nate went over to CD's so they could get the test done... CD and the kids went with him to the Division again, so the MEs there could do the test... they did the test... Nate felt bad because the kids cried... they sat and waited for the results... CD soothed her kids and rocked them in her lap, shooting dirty glares at Nate... he just shot glares back... one of the Mes came out and told them the tests were positive...

CD nodded and smiled at the kids. "You guys want a big icecream now?"

"Yeah... my treat..." Nate smiled.

"Over my dead body!" She glared at him. "You stay the hell away from us, and if I need a restraint order I'll get one!"

"Well I'll file for custody if you don't let me see them!... I’m sure the judge will love how you let them play with condoms and have strange men in the house at night..." Nate glared back.

"Oh and I'm sure he'll also love to hear about your and your girlfriends coke problems, her year in the state pen and nice things like that!" She decided that if Nate wanted to play dirty she could do that too. She went right into his face. "But she is my girlfriend..." He tried.

"As long as she isn't your wife she isn't coming close to them." She made sure that condition was clear.

"Ok fine... I'll tell her to leave..." He went over to his kids and hugged them. "Guess what guys?"

"What?" They both asked.

"I’m your Daddy!" He exclaimed proudly.

"D'oh." They rolled their eyes. "We knew that."

"You did?" He was stunned.

"Uh huh." Nathan nodded. "Mommy named me after you."

He hugged them again and started to cry. "I love you both so much..."

They hugged him back. "We love you too daddy!" They announced.

CD swallowed and walked up to them. "Hey uhm... why don't you guys just go ahead and go get that icecream ?"

He looked up at CD. "Thank you..."

She nodded. "I have a case anyways." She hugged and kissed them with tears in her eyes and started to walk away, her heart breaking.

He called after her. "Hey CD..."

She wiped her tears away and turned around. "Yeah?"

"Why don't you come? I've never been alone with kids before... I’m not sure what to do..." He looked at her helplessly.

She smiled. "I'm sure you'll do fine."

"But I'd still like for you to come..." He smiled back.

She frowned. "Why?"

"Because I'd like to catch up on old times..." He said.

"Old times have long gone by..." She sighed.

"But I'd still like to know about my kids births... and how they were when they were babies..." He smiled at them.

She smiled and nodded. "How about you come over for dinner tonight?"

"Ok... that sounds good..." He agreed.

She smiled. "Alright then. See ya at six?"

He nodded. "I'll be there..."

"Why don't you keep the kids until then?" CD suggested.

"Uhh... ok... I think I can handle it..." He said full of confidence.

She smiled and squeezed his shoulders and handed him her buisnesscard. "Call my anytime if something happens."

"Ok..." he smiled and picked the twins up. "See you later..."

"Bye." She waved after them and headed back to her limosine

Nate put the kids in the back seat... they were way too little to not have booster seats... so after they had ice cream, he took them to the mall... he got two booster seats and everything they wanted... his trunk was stuffed with toys.

CD spent the day at the office, burying herself with work, trying hard not to cry.

They went to the park... then the zoo... and after that they were at McDonalds having lunch. Nate decided to call Lily and tell her she had to leave. She got pissed and decided to go to where CD worked and cuss her out...

CD was trying to take her mind off everything the only way she had learned to during the past years... and was screwing around in the restrooms. She walked out again, adjusting her blouse, followed by a guy who zipped up his pants.

Lily saw CD and walked up to her. "What the hell do you think you are doing, invading my life?"

"Excuse me?" CD looked at her puzzled.

“Oh don't act stupid... Nate just left me for YOUR kids..."

"He left you?" CD asked surprised.

"Yes!" She yelled.

"Well sucks to be you then." CD said and left her standing there.

She followed her. "I want you to tell him he can't see your kids... I’m tired of playing second fiddle to you... he is mine..."

CD was getting pissed. "I don't care what you want. They're his kids too and he has every right to be in their life. Deal with it or go to where the sun don't shine."

"Oh please those kids aren't his!" Lily yelled.

"They are." CD yelled back.

"Yeah right... ever since we got back together, all he talks about is you... what you two always did together... blah blah blah... Im sick of it! Now stay away from him or else!" Glaring Lily threatened her.

"I stayed away from him for the past three years... and your else wouldn't scare a fly away from a pile of horse****! And right now you're in my firm, and unless you are here as possible client, you're gonna have to leave or I will have you removed. Goodbye Miss Ramirez." CD wasn’t impressed at all.

She just walked off all pissed... she knew CD had won...

CD told her security guys not to let her in again and went into her office and in sheer anger grabbed a vase with flowers that she had gotten from someone whose name she didn't remember and threw it against the wall.

wow. :( i know the woman sleeps around and stuff in this fic, but i STILL feel so sorry for CD!!!!!!! :( poor girl!!!!! get Nate completely back w/ her (forever and ever!! :D), and she can be happy again!!!!!

Meanwhile Nate took Nathan and Nalany to his place... he hoped Lily wouldn't come back... he let them watch tv while he packed all of her stuff... he sat it all outside so she could pick it up... then he watched tv with the kids... Lily came and beat on the door for 20 minutes but he wouldn't let her in... the twins asked who that was and he just told them some weirdo and to ignore her.

At 5 CD went home and started to make dinner

Nate and the twins fell asleep on the couch... he woke up at 7pm and realized they had to be at CD's... so he quickly got the kids up and raced over to CD's... he hoped she wouldn't kill him.

CD was pacing nervously and kept on checking her watch and calling Nate but no one answered.

He knocked on the door holding the kids in his arms.

She opened the door, looking pissed.

"Hey... I’m SO sorry I’m late..." he walked in past CD.

CD hugged and kissed the kids, ignoring him. "Are you okay?"

"Of course mommy!" They rolled their eyes.

"We fell asleep..." Nate explained.

"Thank god." She smiled at them. "Are you hungry?"

"I’m starving... but I gotta get their bags out of the trunk... be right back..." He ran out to the car.

"Their what?" She frowned and looked at them who looked at her innocently... Then she put them into their seats in the kitchen and gave them their food.

After a few trips to the car, Nate got everything inside. He sat down at the table... "Did you guys tell your mom what all we did today?"

CD blinked and looked at him. "Could we talk a minute?"

"Yeah sure..." he got up and followed her.

CD took him into her bedroom with her and closed the door. "First of all, do you have any idea HOW worried I was?" She yelled at him. "Especially after that nice visit from Lily! I was going insane here!" She screamed. "And what the hell is all of that?"

Nate sighed but could understand that she was upset. "Ok relax! I’m sorry... we fell asleep after we went shopping... and what do you mean visit from Lily???"

CD told him all about that. "And I can't ****ing relax when someone threatened to hurt my kids!"

He sighed. "CD they were fine ok... I'd never let anything happen to them... I love them more than anything..."

"You didn't answer your damn phone! How was I supposed to know they were okay? And the only reason why I don't have the whole city going crazy yet is because I knew they were with you, alright? I know you would take care of them as much as I do."

"I’m sorry about the phone... I turned my ringers off because of Lily." Nate said.

CD nodded. "Okay fine." She took a deep breath. "I was worried out of my mind Nate!"

He put his hands on her shoulders. "I know you were... and I’m sorry... it will never happen again."

She nodded and turned around because she started to cry, relieved now, but letting go of the tears that had built up.
He turned her back around and held her close. "Hey... shhhhh... it’s ok..."

She held onto him and sobbed. "I never was that scared in my life before."

"I know... everything is ok now..." He patted her back as she let it all out.

Her sobs slowly subsided again.

"I bet they are wondering what we are doing in here... come on... let’s go eat..." He suggested.

She nodded and wiped her tears away again.

It should go like this: CD should just forgive Nate, marry him and the four of them could live happily ever after. :)

They walked back into the kitchen. "What’s wrong Mommy?" Nalany asked.

CD put on a smile again. "Nothing sweetheart."

Nate sat back down at the table. "You know, what is a guy with a daughter supposed to do when they are in public and she has to pee? I didn't want to take Nalany to the men’s room... so everytime one of them had to go, we had to drive all the way back to my place..."

CD laughed at that. "Nate it's okay to take her to the guy’s room. I do it all the time too."

"You take her into the guy’s room?" He joked.

"Yeah." She nodded. "Nathan refuses to go to the ladies room with us, so we always go to the guys room..."

Nate shook his head. "Well I don't like taking her to the men’s room..."

CD chuckled.

"So when is their birthday?" Nate wanted to know.

"March 28th." CD answered.

"Wow... looks like you two have a birthday in a few months... what do you want?" He smiled at them.

Nalany quickly shouted "A pony!"

"A racecar!" Nathan shouted at the same time.

"Ok... I'll tell Santa..." Nate grinned.

CD kicked him under the table. "Maybe you should start to consider somewhat smaller presents..."

"Sorry... I gotta make up for the past 4 years..." Nate smirked.

"We'll talk about that..." CD laughed.

"Ok..." Nate grinned at her.

She smiled and saw that the kids were done with dinner. "Uhhh dessert?"

"Yeah!" Nate exclaimed along with the kids.

She chuckled and put chocolate pudding on the table.

They all began to eat it. "I see they like chocolate too..." Nate spoke up.

She nodded. "They're so much like you."

He grinned at that. "I noticed they are like you too..."

She blushed a little. "I think it's time for them to go to bed..."

He got up and wiped both of their faces. "Can I help put them to bed?"

"Of course." She smiled. "First they need a bath though."

"Can I help with that?" He grinned, still excited over the new fatherly duties.

"Sure." She nodded.

He picked Nalany up out of her chair.

CD picked Nathan up and they put them into the tub, ending up as wet as them, because they of course played with them...

"It’s a rain storm..." Nate exclaimed and poured water over both of their heads.

They squealed and splashed him and their mom back, glad to finally have a daddy.

"Hey you got me all wet!" Nate exclaimed.

"You wanted to help." CD laughed and picked Nalany up and wrapped a towel around her.

Nate got Nathan and wrapped him up.

They put them to bed and told them a goodnite story together.

Nathan sleeply asked, as he rubbed his eyes, "Daddy are you going back home?"

"Don't go!" Nally whined.

"After you fall asleep." He answered.

"What about the weirdo that was banging on the door?" Nathan asked.

He laughed. "She's gone now..."

"What weirdo?" CD asked scared.

"Just some crazy Mexican... I mean... Puerto Rican..." Nate said.

Nathan giggled... "That lady was calling Daddy bad words..."

CD chuckled too. "Oh don't worry, she heard her share from me too"

"Good..." Nate laughed.

"Can't you stay?" Nally whined again.

"I gotta go sleep in my own bed..." He said.

They nodded, not liking it but accepting it, mainly because they were so tired.

They fell asleep eventually and CD led Nate out of the room again.

"Wow... my first day as a Dad... do you think I did good?" He grinned.

"You did perfect!" She smiled. "I'm impressed daddy."

"Thanks Mommy..." He smiled at her.

She smiled back. "So you kicked Lily out?"

"Yeah... you told me she couldn't be around the twins... and plus that had been coming on a while..."

"It's none of my buisness actually..." CD said, glad to hear that though.

"Well you asked..." He shrugged.

"Yeah." She nodded. "Uhhh well..."

"I guess I better get going..." He sighed.

She nodded but then shook her head. "No, you can't go yet!"

"I can't?" He looked at her surprised.

She shook her head again and took his hand and led him to the couch.

He sat down beside her, confused.
