Hi everyone...
A couple Canadian traders got into trouble recently for tape trading. One whom I had traded with once. I have been kind of leary about doing any trading outside the US because of this. I just got emails from 2 Canadians who seem very nice (Canadians are very nice people, I live up near Canada myself) and felt really bad having to tell them I can't trade with them.

My question is, has anyone had any problems trading with anyone from Canada? Thanks all!

Hi ya Martin!!

Couldn't you just have the Canadian traders send there stuff first? Once you receive their stuff, you could send your side of the trade.

Just wondering:crazy:

Hey Sharon!
How are you? I'm still plugging away with the Munsters! 2 other people want it too, so I gotta get on the ball :)

Well, Gino, the guy I traded with, told me his package (not the one I sent, but a different trade) was opened at customs. I was just thinking though, if the tapes/discs weren't labeled, how would they know if there was anything recorded on them. Maybe the person in Canada bought blanks off ebay or something? I dunno.
I'd hate to risk my entire collection for one trade, you know.

I emailed both of them and haven't heard back from either. I just explained my concerns in a nice way. Not much else I can do :(

 I certainly understand your aprehension considering all of the time and effort your have put into building your own collection! Maybe the Canadian traders know someone in the US that you can send your side of the trade to and that person can forward them on to Canada?? But - then you would have to trust the person in the US to remove your name completely off the pkg. Looks like our Canadian friends are just out of luck:(

I live in Canada and while I've had packages opened at the border, I've found that once they realize it's not snuff footage, child porn etc. they simply close the package and send it on its merry way.

You can't really think that customs is going to get involved in cracking down on tape trading. They have much huger concerns like terrorism and drugs.

Thanks everyone!

I guess the main reason I was nervous was because I had made 14 dvds for this trader and was waiting for him to finish his half of the trade. Then he got caught or whatever, and I'm stuck with dvds and out the time & expense I took in making them.

So, we'll see what happens!

Thanks for all the advice-
Martin.

I can vouch for these DVDs, as I got the identical set, for the most part. We're on our last DVD already. :( Columbo is a riot.

Thanks, Martin!

Martin,

I am getting the last of the older ones in the mail shortly from a mutual friend. :-)

Thank you for all of the goodies!

I live in Canada as well. I have mostly traded with Canadians but have also traded with Americans and have had no problems.

I have heard that some americans have had to pay duty once they receive their shipments, but I have traded with at least 4 americans and have never had to pay extra fees.

What kind of trouble were you referring to when you say a couple of Canadians got into trouble ?
