View Full Version : Alone Music
cablejockey 01-08-2004, 01:16 PM What do you like to listen to when your'e alone? So you can play it loud, or dance or sing without others criticizing. So you can get lost in it.
Mine is AFI--Linkin Park---Hardcore Superstar
dandelion wine 01-09-2004, 12:58 AM Movie soundtracks and really, really cheesy songs. Stuff that some of my friends would probably cringe at, even though it's ok with them when I do play that kinda stuff. Then I blare my stereo and sing along while I'm cleaning the house or taking a shower.
MillenniumMan831 01-09-2004, 01:40 AM It changes all the time, but for now it's, "Everyday" by Bon Jovi.
BlackKitty87 01-09-2004, 01:47 AM When I`m feeling sad, I listen to Grateful Dead Phish, and some 60s music. Its cheers me up.
When I`m p*ssed off, I`ll listen to Fiona Apple or Evanescence or some heavy metal.
Steve M. 01-09-2004, 12:00 PM To get a real feeling of being alone, listen to Bob Dylan's low-key, intimately composed and performed masterpiece John Wesley Harding.
Penny Lane 01-09-2004, 04:07 PM Besides the Beatles when I am alone I listen to John Lee Hooker's "The Healer" or anything by BB King.
Dean Winchester 01-09-2004, 04:18 PM come on everybody!!!
Alone music is the music you're too embarassed to listen to in front of "cool" friends. For me, this includes Abba, Olivia Newton-John, Yoko Ono, Ace Of Base and co.
Come on, who hasn't "rocked out" to guilty pleasure music when alone... but wouldn't dare in the presence of someone else? haha

don't forget when you're driving alone and a power ballad comes on, LOL. You know that if there's no passengers in the car, you're going to crank up "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" singing every word by heart to it if it comes on the radio, haha.
Kay Scarpetta 01-09-2004, 04:31 PM When I'm alone, usually Dashboard Confessional, AFI, or a lot of my 80's stuff, particularly The Clash, The Ramones, Culture Club, GNR, Bon Jovi, AC/DC, The Cure...

Well, I'm not "ashamed" of anything that I listen to!
But the closest thing that I can get to your definition is that I do like Metallica. (And Justice For All) album. My son got me hooked on that while he was playing along with it on his guitar over and over.;)
I also like listening to Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra .
but ..........I AM NOT ASHAMED!
Exotica 01-09-2004, 04:46 PM I'm proud of the music I like. I mostly enjoy listening to piano music such as Chopin and David Lanz.
AND THE ALAN PARSONS PROJECT!

neither am I really, but for SOME of my friends, I'd dread to see how they'd laugh at me if I was blasting and singing along to something like Olivia Newton-John or Barry Manilow or something along those lines, LOL.
factsoflife 01-12-2004, 01:33 AM Olivia Newton John's "Physical", "I honestly love you" and "Hopelessly devoted to you" also "summer nights" from GREASE.
"I'm Beauitful" by Bette Midler..
Also ANYTHING by BSB or NSYNC or Spice Girls.
SBTB Geek 01-12-2004, 01:56 AM "She Bop," "Touch of My Hand"?

I do that all the time when I'm alone. And I also sing along to "Mandy," when noone's looking.
Lady T 01-12-2004, 02:49 AM Duran Duran

Information Society
Depeche Mode
Peter Frampton
The Beatles
The Bee Gees....
  :mango
Mijada 01-12-2004, 06:57 AM I listen to the same stuff all the time. I don't really care anymore what other people think. I'm not going to go out and buy CDs that I don't like just because they are popular.
Exotica 01-12-2004, 07:33 AM You're wise, Mijada. You should always listen to what you like the best.
I listen to Queensryche & Pink Floyd when I'm alone; my husband doesn't care for either one.

:yeahthat I don't care what other people think either. I like what I like, and if you don't, too bad. That's what I say!
Steve M. 03-24-2007, 05:20 PM Peter Frampton
The Beatles
The Bee Gees....
And if you're listening to Peter Frampton and/or the Bee Gees sing Beatles songs, it means you're listening to the 1978 Sgt. Pepper movie soundtrack. You'd better listen to it alone, because that's not the kind of record you'd let people know you listen to!  :p

 I agree! I actually kind of enjoyed that movie. *waiting for other posters to throw tomatoes at me* Having said that, I think we can all agree that Peter Frampton was HORRIBLE in that movie; watching him try to cry (with obvious fake tears splashed across his face) was pure pain. I DO have Frampton's Greatest Hits and enjoy a lot of his songs ("Something's Happening", "Doobie Wah", "All I Want To Be Is By Your Side", and "Putting My Heart on the Line" come quickly to mind), though.
Someone on imdb posted that Andy Gibb would've been a better choice for the role of Billy Shears than Peter Frampton. I tend to agree. Maybe the overall movie would not have been better, but Andy was still in his teens and could maybe have pulled off more innocence and charm. I think that Andy was the better singer of the two and had a better voice for the gentle Beatle ballads. His brothers the Bee Gees made their mark with three part harmonies so I think they were just fine in the movie. I would've loved to hear all four Gibbs singing "With A Little Help From My Friends" with Andy singing the lead.
But alas, Andy was recording the Shadow Dancing album at this time and was also dealing with a quickly dissolving marriage. That was the first setback that would lead to Andy's rapid decline. Ah, what could have been...

Cat Lover, that is one more good idea than Bee Gees manager Robert Stigwood had when he made that movie!
Andy Gibb actually turned 20 in 1978, the year that movie came out.
