Hi all!

I just watched a Nanny episode and wondered... did you ever notice that Max is calling Niles "Old Man" but CC says Butler Boy (sometimes... doesn't she?)? I mean... that's quite a difference of age, isn't it? lol I know everybody is always wondering how old Fran is but what about the others in the show? I think that Niles should be older than Max but what about CC? Is she supposed to be Niles' age? Then she would be older than Max! I can't believe that!! I don't think it's convincing that CC is older than Max. What do you think? Isn't that confusing!?

Niles is older than Max, although not by much b/c they grew up together. The "old man" thing is a British term of endearment, not really related to Niles' age at all. As for "Butler boy, " the same thing applies. It's not so much related to Niles' age, as it is her contempt for him. It's basically C.C. being C.C. lol.

Hope that helps!

Yep! That helps! Thanks for pointing out! As you noticed... English isn't my native language. :)

So you think CC is as old as Max? That would make sense.

BTW I know that was a weird question. lol

lol...well nobody knows for sure, obviously. But yeah I do think there's a case to be made there. They're probably around the same age, as is Niles. One thing that is clear, however is that they're all older than Fran (No matter what her real age turned out to be! ;)) . Hope that at least made sense LOL.

Yes, it sounds good to me that Max and CC are probably around the same age. Everthing else would seem odd. I guess it's just so confusing that Niles always says to CC that she's *that* old. :) Well,... it's their way "communicate". lol I love their weird relation. :D

And yeah! Everyone is older than Fran! She's... 29. lol

Exactly. With Niles and C.C.'s insults, you've gotta keep in mind that a lot of it is exaggeration. I think the reason Niles calls her old all the time is that she's single, and she has no real prospects or whatever, and you know she has no chance with Maxwell! ;)

Yes! Niles really has a way to point things out to CC about her and Max!

I've also always wondered how the writers came up with the "she's a man"-thing for CC? For example from "The Fran in the Mirror": Niles in Max's office talking to Rodney. CC enters. Niles: "... for a drink follow *him*!" :D

Oy! Another weird though! ;)

I noticed something more about the age thing while watching "That's Midlife" the other day. Maxwell has his midlife crisis and Fran talks with Niles about it. She asks him what he did before he got into his 50s. He gives her a bad look. ;) But I guess she was close! lol So if he's in his late 40s and beginning 50s then CC must be a lot younger - maybe about 10 years. At least she's pregnant at the end of the series.

Well, that's it... don't sue me. I'm bored right now. lol

I think in that episode Max said he was 42. And about the fact that C.C.'s pregnant, I guess that would mean she'd have to be younger than Max. I didn't even think of that. But she's not younger by much, b/c she sure seems to be Max's equal. Then again, that may just be how she treats him LOL. You never can be quite sure with her!

lol this confuses me...

a) If Fran's so young, why would she marry a man in his 40's?
b) If Maxwell's so "old", then why would C.C. want him so much?
c) C.C. and Niles get married- but C.C.'s obviously younger than him, so why would they want to get married?

Maybe we should do a little research.

I GOT IT!!

Assuming that the show was going by their real ages, this is how it goes:
Fran was hired in 1993, at age 36. When she and Maxwell got married, it was 1998 and she was 41.
Maxwell was 38 when he hired Fran. When they got married, he was 43.
In 1993, C.C. was 32. When she and Niles got married, she was only 38, which makes her the youngest adult on the show.
When Niles first appeared, he was already 48. When he and C.C. got married, he was 54.

Therefore, there was a 2 year difference between Max and Fran, and there was a whole 16 year difference between Niles and C.C.
Isn't 16 years an awful lot?

This *is* confusing!!

a) If Fran's so young, why would she marry a man in his 40's?
I don't think she cares so much about age. She's in love with Max and he's everything she ever dreamt of, I think.

b) If Maxwell's so "old", then why would C.C. want him so much?
I think CC wants Max because he seems to be perfect. He's rich, he's a well known personality in society, he's successful and he's good-looking. The perfect man to show of to the world. But he's simply not right for CC.

c) C.C. and Niles get married- but C.C.'s obviously younger than him, so why would they want to get married?
I think that they finally fell in love (or always have been in love) because there personalities match so perfectly. They are soul mates and a good completion. She's so over the top and he always gets her back to the ground and she's the only one who has fun to keep up with his pranks. He needs that as much as she does. I guess that's why they had to marry at the ending. They had to finish "their" story. I don't think they care about age. (And when the man is older usually no one cares so much about it. It'll be a little odd if she'd be that much older. lol)

Well, just my two cents. ;)

Wow! Good math work!

I thought they made use of the real ages of the actors but I think that CC must have been a little older than Lauren. At least CC and Max met early and knew each other from school days or something like that. Furthermore there's that scene in "The Final II" when CC and Niles get married. In his vows Niles make a comment about CC and their first meeting. He says it was in the 60s. So when CC was Lauren's age CC would have been a baby (or at least a very small kid) when they first met. lol This is really weird with CC's age. I think the authors never thought about it much! Isn't it amazing that everybody always wonders about Fran's age but that CC's is even a bigger mystery?! ;)

Oh! I remember something more. They also said that Niles and Max know CC for 25 years or something like that. If she was supposed to be a little over 40 when the show ended Niles must have met her when she was just a teenager. (Maybe he knew her brunette? lol) In any case she was a late mother.

Ok then...

So, possibly C.C. was playing someone older, and Niles was possibly playing someone younger. That way, they ended up the same age.
16 years is an awful big jump when it comes to getting married, though, I mean, my parents are only 7 years apart. Then again, look at Celine Dion and her husband. He's waaaaay older then her, yet they're in love.
I guess you just have to use your imagination when it comes to age.
Unless Niles was a toddler when he met baby C.C. in the 60's.

I saw the 12:30 episode of the Nanny, and Niles mentioned that Nanny Fine was probably close to C.C.'s age.
Then C.C. reponds "you think Nanny Fine's close to for-" then stopped.
So in the show C.C.'s obviously "for."

Fran was hired in 1993, at age 36. When she and Maxwell got married, it was 1998 and she was 41.

Well, actually, Fran Drescher was 36 when the show started. Fran Fine was 29. She turned 30 a few months later, in the episode "A plot for Nanny". So, she was about 34 when she married Max.

Aheh. Just saying.

I remember that scene from "A kiss is just a Kiss". Yeah, well... I guess we'll never know exactly about their ages. I recently heard a statement by Daniel Davis that fit the "age topic". When they did the castings for Niles they were actually looking for a "much older man" (than Max). I think that Daniel wanted to point out that they originally wanted to have a father-and-son relation between Max and Niles. (That's just my interpretation of course.) But at least they chose Daniel who wasn't "that much older". So Max' and Niles' relation changed. Furthermore they casted Lauren who is way younger than Fran. But Ms. Babcock was supposed to be older than Fran Fine. So I guess that's where the confusion about the character's ages started. I think that it was also not implied that Niles and CC would have a relationship at the end of the series. I guess it just developed because the audience liked their little banters so much. :) Their chemistry was just right. So at least everything turned out just "Fine"! lol
