Guys,

Can someone do a comparison of an VHS/DVD episodes and even older CBS tapes of AITF, where lines that were in there, are not in TV Land's version because of racial content?

I saw an episode last night and had the captioning on and Archie said the three-letter word for homosexual! (I can't believe that TV Land would leave that in.) I do know that several references to the N-word have been dubbed. The f*g term was in the "Gun Control" Episode.

It's a shame that these shows are only coming in at about 24 minutes! We are losing about 2 minutes of dialoge per show!

There is a difference in the way my local UPN network and TV LAND Edit their episodes. In the episode-Pay the Twenty Dollars, George makes a threat to Archie that you don't hear on the TV LAND version. On UPN, George says to Archie-

"If I don't get my money right now, you are going to find yourself on the top of ten most sorry HONkY list"

Then Archie says, Jefferson do you care to step outside?

On TV LAND, all you see is Archie saying Jefferson do you care to step outside? TV LAND cut out George's Statement about the Honky List.

It's shorter than 24 minutes. It's more like 21 or 22 minutes. It really sucks. I wish Syndication didn't edit shows so much.

THe N-word was used in TV LAND 's version of "Lionel's Engagement" by George Jefferson. I think George was the first character on ALl in the Family to say the N-word. I don't recall that word being used by Archie. I could be wrong.

The last time I saw "Sammy's Visit" on N @ N, they edited a line where Sammy says to Archie "Some people would've called me a N*****, but you right away called me "colored". Not an exact quote, but this line is in the DVD version.

All in the Family may have been the first TV series to have used the word "#!99er" and several other racial slurs, such as "w0p" and "sp1c".

ON one episode of The Jeffersons, Louise used the n-term herself by saying "$500 for a watch?! N199r, please!".

I know in the ep. where Gloria gives birth and Archie is in black-face, he goes to the wrong room and the lady seeing Archie as such - puts in a call to the nurse and says: There's a big fat black man in my room and I'm in no condition to be raped. TV Land cut this little bit out - too bad because I loved Archies response: (Mockingly) A big fat black man in my room. Who the hell would want to rape you anyway? Not even one of us guys (pointing to his black face).

Ah the days of un-pc humour. Thank God for DVDs that I can enjoy forever.

I have the first five seasons on DVD, and I hear the "N" word and f@g on them. In the 2nd part of the "Heat Wave" episode, Archie & Irene say:

Archie: "Aren't you afraid of what people will think with Frank doing all the cooking?"
Irene: "What, that I'm a lazy housewife?"
Archie: "No, that he's a f@g".
