I just found out some sad news.

Tug McGraw, who played for the Mets and Phillies, recently died of brain cancer at age 59. :( (This is an edited post. I posted some wrong info before, saying Tug died of a sudden heart attack. It was cancer.)

Anyways, RIP, Tug. He was an awesome reliever. His bases loaded, World Series ending strikeout of Willie Wilson in 1980 is still etched in my mind.

Yeah, he did. RIP :(

I remember he was doing pretty bad back in March. But Tim got some really good doctors and he was fine for a while. Tim was on his One Band Show tour at the time, and almost had to cancel some dates. I hope Tim and his family are doing all right.

I know he had brain cancer, because I was keeping up with what Tim and Faith were doing for him, doctor-wise. I don't think the site I attached said how he died, but I thought I read somewhere that it was a heart attack. :( I'll go find out.

Tug was a great pitcher and an even greater character.

He was the heart of the 1973 Mets.

"Ya gotta Believe" was his catchphrase.

He was the man.
