View Full Version : Reunion? I don't know...
david&maddie4ever 01-05-2004, 11:19 PM Hello, all.
I've been thinking about an ML reunion, and to tell you the truth, I'm not so sure it's such a great idea. You know what happens when great shows come back after a long time and do something lame. This might ruin the classic we've all grown to love! Terrible.
Are you guys in favor of a reunion?

really, i think they ended the show exceptionally well. no loose ends or nothing. i think it should just stay there.

Ya know, it's funny, because as big of a fan as I am, I've never seen the last episode. I remember the day it was on; my mom made my go shopping, and I forgot to set the VCR. ohno: (This was before my days of TiVo. :D) Anyway, most people say it absolutely sucks, but I'm glad somebody likes it!

nothing about moonlighting sucks. except that it was cancelled.
what was that one episode you said you had on tape?
it was great how they went and dismantled the bluemoon set while dave and maddie were still in character.

Oh, you're gonna make me wanna see the finale, now! :( I didn't know they took down the set during the actual episode! Classic Moonlighting...God, I miss this show!!!
The only episode I have on tape is "And the Flesh was Made Word." I like it...not my favorite, but good. :D

i remember you mentioned having only one episode a few months back. just couldn't remember which one. can't remember which one that is though.
oh, yeah, it was a great last episode. it was, as you said, classic moonlighting. i need to get the tapes out. i can't remember to many particlulars to share on some things.
david&maddie4ever 01-13-2004, 10:45 PM Hey, Bobby.
I've been watching my episode about once a month, because I've heard that if you watch a tape too much, the picture and sound start to wear. :( Moderation sucks. :p
"And the Flesh Was Made Word"...
Case: Man comes to Blue Moon and says that his business partner is dragging their company down because he's gone off the deep end over some woman he's never met. He hires Maddie and Dave to find the woman.
The last couple scenes were probaby the most memorable. The woman they find keeps trying to kill herself using as many different methods as possible (TV in the bathtub, jumping off a bridge, etc.), and Maddie keeps sending Dave out to save her. He actually got run over by a street sweeper! :D

i remember that one now. at least that scene. always funny.
nouyorq 08-13-2004, 06:28 AM about the reunion, i agree with Lauren... it would spoil it all...
moreover, too much time has been passing by now, the actors are too old haha
and fans will be disappointed... the choices the writers of a reunion would make will seem pale, compared to what years of fans' speculations had built up !
maddie :schmack: david
Tazmania 08-13-2004, 06:53 AM Actually I WOULD like to see a reunion!
Just for the sake of seeing them together on the screen one more time.
Nothing and I mean NOTHING in the world could ruin the original series!
Not even a reunion.
They should make it a one time movie and I think it would be funny and great to see the older Dave and Maddie now!
It doesn't matter they're older because they are still beautiful people to watch.
Just to satisfy us elderly fans ONE MORE TIME, let's have a reunion!
 greetz Taz
Thanx to jonathan for the picture below
Carina13 08-13-2004, 08:07 AM Yes, I'm with you, Taz, nothing could ruin the original show. I'd also love to see them reunited, It's my dream. Btw... i like that picture!! hehe
kismet 08-13-2004, 08:09 AM I have mixed feelings about a reunion.

Which are??
I think a reunion is a fun idea that, unfortunately, will probably never happen. I love the "poster" for it though. Very cool!
Tazmania 08-13-2004, 12:25 PM Here's another poster! Again thanx to Jonathan!
david&maddie4ever 08-13-2004, 01:15 PM Taz and nouyorq, you both make very valid points.
BTW, I love the second poster, Taz. Seeing Cyb and Bruce together on there might make me change my mind about this reunion thing! :p

Thanx to Jonathan on Cyb's site for the posters!
I wish I had a huge one on my wall!
But you know, everybody loves the fanfiction where it's 10 or 20 years later and they even make Maddie pregnant at the age of 51!!
So why are we against a reunion then?
I don't get it.
It would be sooooooo GREAT!
I think it would be terrific too! But for a whole lot of reasons, I just don't think we'll ever see it happen. :(

Ditto.
diana2001 08-17-2004, 10:11 AM I really loved the "Moonlighting Reunion" posters Jonathan! Thanks Taz for posting them here.
I think it is awesome that some of you out there want to see Bruce and Cybill together again! We know Cybill wants a reunion!

Really? I didn't know that...I didn't think she would.
While I, of course, would love to see Maddie and Dave together once again, I'm still cautious about the whole situation. I just don't want to see the legacy of ML hurt in any way. If the reunion was guaranteed to be the same quality as the original show, I'd be all for it!
Tazmania 08-18-2004, 02:11 PM And even is the quality wasn't quite the same, it would never hurt the LEGACY.
This goes on and on and on.......
Oh and Cyb said this in an interview, which I believe is on Moonlighting21.com or on D&M.com.
Greetz Taz:wave:
diana2001 08-18-2004, 05:20 PM Cybill talks about the reunion in both issue #2 and in the latest issue of Moonlighting Strangers. Click on the link below:

Yeah, you're probably right about that one, Taz.
BTW, thanks for the link, Diana! :thanks:
Dutchie 08-19-2004, 05:28 AM okay, Cybill wants it....Bruce doubts it....
DO THOSE TWO EVER AGREE ON ANYTHING ?!?!?!?!:gossip
I for one would love to see a reunion. I'm keeping myself calm by writing one myself. ;)
david&maddie4ever 08-19-2004, 01:44 PM Just got to read Cyb's interview. She really sounds like she's all for it. I wonder why Bruce isn't into it. :(

Somehow I don't think that Bruce wants to talk to her anymore.
(she told a lot about him)
I hope I'm wrong.

Aww, me too. Things would be so much easier on us fans if they were friendly. :p
This type of thing seems to happen a lot between two people who have electric screen chemistry. Just look at Ted Danson and Shelley Long who played Sam and Diane on Cheers. Rumors say they hated each other. I dunno...it sure made for some great TV.
Dutchie 08-19-2004, 03:29 PM ooooh booohoooohoooo
I'm sad now...
:( :( :( :( :( :crying: :crying: :crying: :crybaby:
Carina13 08-19-2004, 03:30 PM You're right, Lauren, It's almost established that people with great chemistry don't like each other. It has happend with a lot of important couples. For example Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh (Rhett and Scarlet from "Gone with the wind") and a lot more. :(
Tazmania 08-19-2004, 04:42 PM I have the same problem with a friend of mine, can't live with and can't live without eachother.
It's hard.
I think it's safe to assume the relationship between them was volatile. Bruce all but admits it during the pilot DVD commentary.
kismet 08-19-2004, 05:35 PM I truly believe, with all my heart, that they had a love/hate relationship, just like David and Maddie.
I think that the fighting on Moonlighting was mainly based on the tremendous stress of doing such a series. They had more lines in one episode then some actors have in an entire season. You cannot produce such high quality and unique shows, and then expect them to be ready in 1 week/2 weeks time. It's amazing that they all remained so sane for so long.
"I hate you, David Addison."
"I know. I hate you too, Maddie Hayes. I've always hated you."

I didn't know that about Clark and Vivien. I'm not an old movie buff, although I like the classics. I know more about 80s comedy than anything else. :p

yeah and dont you forget David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson in X-Files... well, maybe not as important a couple as those you quoted but yet another example ! :p
Tazmania 08-20-2004, 12:53 PM Well I also know a couple that got married in real life!
Michael Brandon and Glynis Barber from the series Dempsey and Makepeace. (D & M!!!) LOL
I was a fan of that show too, they almost had the same chemistry as Bruce and Cybill had.
Only they played real police detectives.
I liked it a lot.

here's a pic:
Tazmania 08-20-2004, 12:55 PM another one which may refresh your mind
Tazmania 08-20-2004, 03:44 PM Does anybody know this show?
david&maddie4ever 08-20-2004, 06:39 PM I've never heard of it, Taz, but if it's anything like Moonlighting, I'd probably love it. :D
CindyK 08-20-2004, 06:52 PM Nope don't know this one...sounds like a Brit show to me...
Tazmania 08-21-2004, 08:27 AM It is a British show, a very good one,
Michael Brandon is an american btw, you guys know him I hope!
Dutchie 08-21-2004, 10:54 AM I don't know it either, but maybe I'm too yongh to know:confused:
Tazmania 08-21-2004, 03:26 PM They used to have reruns om Belgium Steph but I think it stopped now.
T was a good one.
;)
Carina13 08-21-2004, 03:51 PM I don't know that one either. And I like old shows. Mmm... the only british sitcom I used to watch was Bennie Hill (hehe:lol: ) and the mini-serie Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth (mmm I love this guy!! :o hehehe)
Tazmania 08-21-2004, 04:05 PM Funny you all don't know it!
And for us elderly ones (ahum) it's also an eighties show.
Check it out on Dempseyandmakepeace.com.
They are a real nice couple.
She the beauty and he the beast.
Always making moves at her, he's a real New York cop.
She an English Milady, always nice and neat, never letting her hair down. But a lady with guts who knows what she wants.
They never got as far as Maddie and Dave but the chemistry was there! Oh yeah!
But ok ok, back to our friends Mads and Daves!
MulberryGal 09-07-2004, 08:13 AM I remember Dempsey and Makepeace - good show, but not a patch on Moonlighting of course!! It was probably created to be a British version.
Aah, Carina sweetie  , you mentioned Colin Firth......sigh.. I LOVE him too! Especially in Pride and Prejudice and Bridget jones's Diary...yum..
To answer the original question, I'm really not sure a reunion is a good idea, perhaps it's far too late now. It would be fun if Bruce and Cybill would work together again on another show tho. I believe Cybill wanted Bruce to make a guest appearance on Cybill but it never happened. Now that would have been fun!

Oh, wow...that would've been fantastic!
Tazmania 09-08-2004, 02:45 PM Yes first he agreed to do it and then his agent told Cyb that he didn't have the time.......

Yeah that was really stupid. They had written a part just for him and then he's too busy to show up. (btw, it sounds like I'm blaming Bruce but I'm not)
I agree with MulberryGal, its too late for a reunion now. But it would be so good if they could work together again in another show. Its a shame Bruce's appearance on Cybill never happened
Dutchie 09-09-2004, 02:25 PM Well, I do think it's a little late for a Moonlighting reunion, but a reunion of the cast would be great! Like Julia Roberts and Richard Gere did. First they played in Pretty Woman and then in Runaway Bride. Both great movies. I think Cybill and Bruce can manage to do that too, don't you?
I would hope they could.
What sort of thing would you like to see them do? I can't help but feel that if they played lovers again it would be compared to Moonlighting and probably unfavourably.
But I still want to see them on screen together again - soon ;)
Tazmania 09-09-2004, 04:32 PM Hi if I may add my opinion:
I think they both would look great in a Series like North and South.
I think they could play husband and wife in that one, with kids who go to war etc, and maybe we will not compare it to ML so easy because it's a whole different setting.
Cyb will look beautiful in such a dress and Bruce in a suit like they were wearing then, WOW!
And it's funny that he's from the north and she from the south!
Taz, your opinion is always welcome, the more the merrier.
I don't know North and South but I guess its a historical drama or something? Moving them to a different time might work especially if the characters are very different.
Tazmania 09-10-2004, 12:25 PM Yes it's based on a book by John Jakes.
It's a beautiful series, with great costumes.
With Patrick Swayze and Lesley Anne Down (whose name is also Madeline in the show!)
It's a bout the civil war between Northern and Southern States in the US.
Here's a pic
Would Bruce be in uniform? Now that would be nice ;)
Tazmania 09-10-2004, 07:54 PM Yeah !!! Ofcourse!!
:happyface
Dutchie 09-11-2004, 04:20 AM I SAW THIS "NORTH AND SOUTH" - THINGY ONCE! It was very late in the evening but all those men in uniform oi:D
