ML21,

When I was royally ripped off, I was afraid to speak up about a particular trader, thinking I was all alone... until someone else spoke up. Once I realized that I was not the only victim, it was far easier to tell others of my experiences. I appreciate your speaking up while many others would not.

I have observed that unless the bad trading experience is recent, folks are hesitant to speak up on your behalf or against the trader in question. No one likes to get in the line of fire, including me. But by viewing these past posts it's obvious you are not the only one.

As one wise trader said, "A smart scammer would make a few good trades with the most respected peeps on the boards and then prey upon smaller less well known ones."

Keep your chip up, and believe me when I say it that the majority of traders are great people. Don't give up trading/buying because of one bad experience.

thanks Jen. i think people should know if there are some frauders out there. i haven't checked him before, now it's too late, no regrets. but these people shouldn't be allowed to continue with their criminal energies around the net. i also don't like to be in the line of the fire but i paid a lot of money and when i read that other people made the same experience with this person and he lied and lied then i really get angry. anyone should report bad traders.

By the way ML21, keep in mind that it is not illegal to buy, but it is illegal to sell. Bad traders typically threaten their victims that they're going to report them for buying bootlegs, siting that buying is a "federal offense", stating that they'll be "scanning the boards for illegal activities."

I got a bridge to sell ya in Brooklyn, folks. Let me know if you wish to buy.

Hi

I normally don't blast anyone, but some things have happened lately and when I read you guys post about Maples I thought I should add to it. I did a Maude trade with her. She was going to give me the first two seasons on four tapes, I made her four tapes of stuff, then she said lets go ahead and do the next two seasons and I made four more tapes of stuff, so I sent all eight tapes to her, havent' recieved anything this is MONTHS AGO. Around the same time I got burned by Hoknes too. THis left a bad taste in my mouth with trading. I am only trading with a close friend now, otherwise I am retired from trading. In fifteen years of trading this had never happened to me in such a big way, only in the last year when I found Sitcoms Online.

Whether it is true or not, I've read where Terry Hoknes had his web site shut down plus had his tapes seized by the powers that be in Canada. It has also happened to other traders I know who lives in Canada . Looks like they are cracking down on Canadian traders.

Because I'd had several trades in the past with Terry, I read up on this on-line and believe it to be true. In defense of him, while he over estimated the quality of his stuff and was too slow sometimes, he traded fairly. When I first started trading, I had a reputable trader take advantage of my naivete by setting up an unfair trade (his sp tapes for my slp tapes), but Terry never did that. He was, at the very least fair to even a newbie, and I appreciated that about him.

Regarding Terry Hoknes: When I first registered with this bored I came across his trading list and emailed him about a trade. I received a "canned" statement from him stating that he was out of the trading biz because all of his stuff was siezed by authorities.

So far, I've found people who trade shows are far more honest than the Ebay sellers. My experience with buying shows off Ebay & Yahoo auctions has been bad on aprox 99.9% of the time!

I'm still learning the trading biz, and fortunately, there are some really nice, fair folks out there that are really nice AND fair!
