CATE'S HOPELESSLY IRRESPONSIBLE NEPHEW, C.J., PAYS A VISIT TO THE HENNESSY HOUSEHOLD AND IMMEDIATELY THROWS THE FAMILY INTO CHAOS, ON ABC'S "8 SIMPLE RULES"

James Garner Guest Stars as Cate's Dad, Jim

"Get Real" -- Jim and the Hennessy household are thrown for a loop when Cate's wayward nephew, C.J. (David Spade, "Just Shoot Me," "Saturday Night Live"), drops by to pay his respects to Paul. But the irresponsible C.J. can't seem to resist getting himself into trouble when he gives Rory some questionable advice about kissing a girl and takes the blame when Kerry - driving with a learner's permit -- accidentally dents Cate's car driving Bridget on a late-night errand, on "8 Simple Rules," TUESDAY, JANUARY 13 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

"8 Simple Rules" stars Katey Sagal as Cate Hennessy, Kaley Cuoco as Bridget Hennessy, Amy Davidson as Kerry Hennessy and Martin Spanjers as Rory Hennessy.

Guest starring are James Garner as Jim, David Spade as C.J. and Daniella Monet as Missy Kleinfeld.

"Get Real" was written by Seth Kurland & Ric Swartzlander and directed by James Widdoes.

"8 Simple Rules" is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1-channel surround sound.

A TV parental guideline will be assigned closer to airdate.

I thought it would suck because I didn't like David Spade but he was pretty funny.... his sarcasm fit because he wasn't over the top and the show just continues to impress me

I have to say I did not enjoy this episode. It seemed to sort of have a depressing feel to it. Also, I don't think Katey's acting could get any less enthusiastic...:(

David Spade...yuck. The whole Rory kissing thing...yuck. I just feel like this show is going downhill. Another thing is that they barely use any color now. The whole set is dark, the costumes are dark, that is almost hurts my eyes to watch...

Ugh...sorry for all these complaints, but I'm expecting more from this show. They had the nations attention and IMO they let us down...:(

I can only hope the next few eps will have some color and spunk to them...

I agree ,bb25, the show has become a bit depressing since the episodes with Ritter. I think it's the lack of color, gives it less flair to it. My biggest problem with this show, though, is the same problem with all the other shows I watch. Too many commercials and is often being preempted, or showing repeats. It used to be shows didn't show any repeats until the summer. I miss that.

I didn't have a problem with Sagal's performance. I think the writers/producers want to keep this character low-key, to give the impression that she is the only normal, sane person in this family, and all other character's will revolve around that. It's a method used commonly in sitcoms (ie...Seinfeld, Will and Grace.)

I'm hoping it gets better in the future. A new opening sequence would be nice.
