I've been watching the trilogy DVD the past few days and I came to wonder if BTTF was released now (but totally new- not like a remake of the original, I hate when they do that to classics) who would play the characters? I think that Topher Grace would make a good Marty McFly. So, what about the other characters (Doc, Biff, Lorraine, George, etc)?

When you mean new- do you mean even a different storyline- like if the present day in it is 2003 then he's go back to the 70's instead of the 50's?

I think a new one would be good- I mean entirely new- not sticking to the 'go back and reunite parents' thing- but, continue the series. Marty McFly could have a kid or something, or help out a kid with time travel.

However- Topher Grace would be a great Mart McFly, but there's something about him that'd make me think the performance wouldn't be as good as Michael J Fox. It's a hard role to cast- most teen actors are 'trendy' kids- annoyingly 'hip' (which isn't a hip word now) and cool. Michael J Fox was cool then too- but not in this way know where every teen actor looks the same (with a few exceptions).

Doc- Christopher Lloyd would still be great for the role, but I think Kelsey Grammar would bring a new humour to the character. Though Christopher Lloyds voice always has a funny tone to it- I guess that's why he's great in 'Clue' as Professor Plum. anyway- Kelsey Grammar or John Lithgow (who also has the 'comedy voice')

It's been a while since I watched the film- but is Lorraine Marty's Mom or girlfriend? Did she play Marty'd Mom in the fifty's? Anyway- if you're sticking to the idea I said of him going back to the 70's- Alyson Hannigan. If you're sticking with the 50's- I can't really think of young actresses now that resemble Leah Thompson at all.

Biff- any bad guy from any teen movie will do- Biff is a cliché- just watch any high school film and you'll see someone perfect to play him in each one. Maybe the guy who spat in the cooler in 'The Waterboy'

I didn't really think about what time period it would be. Just now- 2003. Lorraine is Marty's mom (Jennifer is his gf, but she wasn't that big of a character). Those are some good choices though. Then again, all the original stars are irreplaceable IMO. Actually, Eric Stoltz was going to play Marty at first. They even filmed parts in the movie with Eric Stoltz at Marty, but they wanted Michael J. Fox so bad they told Eric they didn't need him anymore (so, I guess they fired him?) Michael was filming Family Ties then so he had a VERY busy schedule. It tells all this stuff in the dvd if you haven't seen it. I'm glad they got Michael J. Fox to do, but I feel kind of bad for Eric cuz they fired him or whatever.

I got that trilogy when it came out - some of my favorite stuff. I love all that sci fi time travel type of thing though.

I understand the "game" you're starting. If the movie were being made brand-new today, never had been before, then what modern actors would you cast? Thats always fun, they do it on all the boards.

Topher Grace is a great choice for Marty. Also, Jerry O' Connell - of course, didnt he do something similar? Heh heh heh. I don't know a lot of young actors, so this is hard. Tom Wellering might be a good Marty as well.

Doc --- man, I have no idea. Robin Williams or Steve Martin might be mad enough. it's hard to find a really good mad scientist these days - I think Christopher Lloyd actually set the modern standard.

This is maybe the hardest version of this Ive ever played ---- we did a really funone for wkrp if you can find the thread.

I also agree with Topher Grace. Another guy who'd be good for the part would be Drew Fuller from Charmed, he's good the looks and boyishness that he'd be a great Marty McFly.

Even tho he might be starting to get old for the part, I could picture Nicholas Brendon as George McFly.

I think it would be aweful..... Most people are so conditioned now and dumbed down, they couldnt make anything nearly as good as BTTF 1,2 and 3!!
