It seemed that Malory was Smart
in the Pilot, but got dumb as the
years went on...

I thought something similar. A year later there was no way Mallory could have corrected Alex on subjects like polo or what various forks are used for. That was a major shift in character.

Another example is:
In one episode, Mallory knows that washing and drying "are two separate events", and in another episode, she doesn't even know how to use the washer.

I did think it was strange that Mallory knew something Alex didn't in the Pilot. It seemed as though Alex was the dumb one. I know he wasn't dumb, but it appeared that way.

Also I don't think she was as ditzy in the second episode either! :confused: Its a shame that they felt that they had to dumb her down so much. If Mallory had stayed smarter then she could almost have been a good role model. But then again if Mallory was smart, Family Ties just wouldn't be family ties! :p

It's just not fair how it seems like you have to be dumb to get guys and be a hottie. Ofcorse it turned out so well on the show. Plus, Jennifer wasn't dumb so it all evens out. :rolleyes: :D

I never thought Mallory was dumb...think of the quiz show ep., Mallory simply didnt apply herself at things that didnt interest her, but when it came to things that did, like fashion design, she could be a wiz....Of course, when you put N-ick into the mix, that theory starts to fall apart :P

Family Ties is back on TV, on the RETRO TV NETWORK !!

I don't get that channel. Do you get that channel only if you live in NY? I live in California so I still can't see it. I hate it. I love this show and would love to see it back on tv again. Well we will just have to wait and see.
