New member here. Been watching since the first season and I remember the Mabel Woods story when her Dog Kennel was burned down. Later I saw it was solved, but never saw how. Does anyone know how it was solved?

Thanks!

I haven't seen this segment very often. I didn't even know it was solved. I'd love to get more information about this too.

Oh! That is a very aweful and painful episode to watch! There is a disclaimer that said none of the animals were hurt in any way during the reinactment. But I saw it once, and it just shows that there are some sickos out there. Thank God they caught the guy! Who would do something like that! Man, I'd want the death penalty to someone that could hurt animals like that!

Oh for heavens sake! If this case was solved, why didn't Unsolved Mysteries let us know? At least a text update at the end would have been helpful.

I saw this segment on last year and also I taped it. There was no upate mentioned at all.

If there is a link about about the capture of the a**hole that started the fire and killed all of those helpless dogs, I would appreciate it.

A case like this really hurts more if you are an animal lover, and especially if you melt at the mere sight of a dog!

Like many cases, the main question to ask here is "WHY?" Mable lived on a little farm with her hundreds of dogs in the middle of nowhere. Her closest neighbors were miles and miles away so there was no way they would have disturbed anyone.

The segment also mentioned that a couple of her dogs were shot and that Mable herself has been harrassed by some person that wants her to leave, but she said she is not going anywhere.

The fire happened in 1986 I believe. I wonder how she has been since then.

I wonder if there are people still working for Unsolved Mysteries, to keep the updates up-to-date. Also, I visit the official website and episode descriptions are never changed.

I'm also an animal lover and I can't comprehend how anyone could kill or even hurt a defenseless animal. It makes me furious.

I heard this was updated and they found the person. Does anyone know any details? Thanks.

I have a few leads and have put a few calls in trying to find out more on this case. I'll post more when I know more.

Mabel Woods I believe is still alive and I want to say is still involved with animals and stuff. I know she was still alive as of a couple years ago. She must be at least well into her 70's by now.

I can only remember a clip of the kennel burning down being part of the "SOLVED" montage during the opening credits pre-1993. I can never remember an actual update. Perhaps they meant another case by mistake? Or perhaps it was really solved. I hope so. That case still gets to me.

I wouldn't put too much trust in the "SOLVED" montage that Unsolved Mysteries used to show during the opening credits. They also showed the clip of the Connecticut woman who was shot in the face through her drivers side window - that case was never solved. Also, they showed the clip of Tammy Leppert breaking the front window with a baseball bat - she has STILL never been found.

I never understood why they put those cases under the "SOLVED" montage since they are NOT solved yet.

I was a bit shocked that the segment mentioned that the only thing they could get the perpetrator(s) for was arson. I'm not sure if the timing or locale of the incident had anything to do with that, but there was a local story a few days ago where a couple of dogs were intentionally shot with arrows and it said if they found the person(s) repsonsible, they could get up to 4 years, and those were just 2 dogs. Mabel had I believe 62 dogs that were offed by this person or persons. I sure hope they find who was responsible in both cases.

Well the problem is, if it was according to current law they could probably get some real serious prison time. However this was probably based on laws from the mid 1980's and back then there was probably no such thing as animal cruelty laws in some states or if there were laws they were probably only misdemeanors punishable by maybe some time in a county jail facility.
