Over 30 years ago, before she played Margaret, Hattie Winston was a regular on the PBS kids show The Electric Company. She joined the cast around the show's third season, replacing Lee Chamberlain. Who remembers her from The Electric Company? HEY YOU GUYYYYS!!!

I watched the "Electric Company" in Grade School in the early 70's.(like 1970-1972) I didn't really care for it that much, and I'm sorry to say I don't remember Hattie Winston being there, that was a LONG time ago!!!

I hated Sesame Street too. But I did like Captain Kangaroo, as well as The Munsters, Gilligan's Island, and Bugs Bunny.

Electric Co. and Sesame Street was boring to me.

I remember her in that series. She wore a large afro wig in her first season on that show. Actually for a kiddie educational series they had some top flight talent: Bill Cosby, Rita Moreno, Irene Cara, Morgan Freeman before he became an Oscar nominee- that show makes the live action children's shows of today look terrible in comparison! They got actors who had serious theatrical acting credentials not just people who looked good on tv. Ms Winston was a theatrically trained actress and a decent singer- did she ever sing on Becker?

Actually one thing I like about Becker is that except for the lead actresses they didn't cast this show based upon the looks of the performers. Ms Winston is not some svelte beauty. Ted Danson and Alex Desert aren't pretty boys nor is the actor who played Bob. Nancy Travis and the actresses who played Reggie and Linda are attractive, but there's more to them than just their looks. Also this is a series that was intended to appeal to a more mature viewership, which is becoming a scarce type of programming on TV.

She was cool on the Electric Company (which I watched as a kid). She was young, late 20s-early 30s, but she was cool. ;)

She sang in some of the EC segments. As far as I'm concerned, her singing talents made her an appealing cast member on that show. :)

Wow, I did not know that Hattie Winston was part of the Electric Company. I used to watch that show when I was a kid in the 1970s. PBS was great back then, with Zoom, Electric Company and the ever popular Sesame Street.

I'd love to see a picture of Hattie on TEC. She's a beautiful woman. I was surprised when I learned that she was born in 1945, which puts in her in her 50s (almost 60 towards the end) during Becker's run. She looked at least a dozen years younger than that to me.

I agree. She definitely could have passed for being in her 40s.

Thanks for the link Tiger. Hattie hasn't changed much in all these years. She was a real doll. Still is. Her smile and her eyes are incredible.
