Yeah, I guess it was okay to show toilet paper, but not a toilet bowl? Puddin' throws all kinds of things into the bathtub but nothing into the toilet! A real mischievous kid would probably hit the toilet first - throw in all kinds of junk and try to flush it down! (At least, I know this was one of my nieces' and nephews' favorite activities - that's how the Hot Wheels car got stuck in there! ) :)

IT WAS ODD, THAT THEY DID SHOW THE TOILET PAPER AND NOT THE TOILET. DID THEY HAVE TOILET PAPER COMMERICIALS BACK THEN?

I remember that early episode when Puddin' kept demanding "I WANNA SEE MARY JANE!" I might have caught a glimpse of toilet paper.

i must say it took me a few times seeing that epi until i found out what a mary jane was...

GLAD YOU KNOW WHAT IT MEANS. I GUESS IT WAS MORE APPROPRIATE FOR A LITTLE GIRL TO SAY "I WANT TO GO SEE MARY JANE" INSTEAD OF "I HAVE TO GO TO THE JOHN".

Good question! I am sure they must have - at least I know they did in the late sixties. And if they had "bathroom tissue" (aka toilet paper LOL) commercials, they must have had commercials for products for cleaning the toilet bowl, too (like Comet, Mr. Clean, and Lysol, which have been around forever) - and must have shown the toilet bowl in the commercial! So, why was it taboo to show a toilet bowl in a TV show, but not in a commercial?:confused: Anybody know the answer to these great mysteries of broadcast history?

They had Charmin "bathroom tissue" commercials back in the 1960's with Mr. Whipple.
