It started out good in the ratings when it debuted on NBC back on March 21, 1995. NBC was behind the series. In fact, they thought they'd move it around to help out other shows. Their plan backfired, as NewsRadio became the lowest rated sitcom on NBC during it's third season. I'll give NBC credit. Because they didn't cancel it. It came back for it's fourth season, which by a lot of fans is the best season. Sadly, at the end of the fourth season, Phil Hartman was tragically murdered by his wife, who then took her own life. NBC still renewed the show for a fifth season. Jon Lovitz replaced Phil. Although, I still liked the show, it clearly wasn't as sharp as it had been before. At the end of the season, NBC cancelled NewsRadio.

Paul Simms (The creator) is helping out with the DVD release of the first two seasons.

My fave sitcom is Three's Company. I'm sad that John Ritter died :(

John Ritter guest starred in an early episode of "NewsRadio". He played the staff's therapist who came in when everybody was in a bad mood. I have a picture of a scene with both John Ritter and Phil Hartman. It's sad that they're both gone.
