View Full Version : Older Actors/Actresses Appreciation Thread
Short Circus 12-29-2003, 08:29 PM Young Hollywood is on vacation for this thread ;)
John C. Reilly is a familiar face who never fails to turn in a satisfying performance. I always enjoy his contribution to any cast.

Janice 12-30-2003, 02:55 AM I agree. I think John C. Reilly is going to be around for a good long time. He was terrific in The Good Girl and Chicago.
I wouldn't call him older, then again, I'm not so young so he doesn't seem older to me. :)
Older actors that I appreciate are Richard Gere, Robert DeNiro, Robert Duvall, Donald Sutherland, Anthony Hopkins, Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, Danny Glover, Martin Sheen, Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino, Warren Beatty....I'm sure I'm leaving some out.
Veteran actresses include Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Michelle Pheiffer, Diane Keaton, Mary Tyler Moore, Goldie Hawn, Susan Sarandon, Meryl Streep, Annette Bening, etc.
These performers have given us so much pleasure over the years.
Lady T 12-30-2003, 03:34 AM Here is one of my favorites..Carole Lombard....:)

That's true, he's not like Paul Newman old lol but he's certainly older than the up-on-coming Hollywood crowd like Jason Biggs, Josh Hartnett, Ryan Phillipe, etc. That's a great list you have there. Another excellent "older" actor to mention is Kevin Spacey. Amazing work. I can't wait to see more

animalcrackers 12-30-2003, 07:32 AM Robert Duvall can do no wrong, the guy is a great actor. And of course I love my Tom Selleck! How about Robert Redford, Sam Elliott, Geoffrey Rush, Ron Perlman.
For the gals, Maureen O'Hara, Doris Day, Meryl Streep, Kathy Bates, Lauren Bacall, Jane Fonda.
I know there is so many others I would like to write down, but I just can't think of them so early in the morning.

webuster 12-30-2003, 10:55 AM John C Reilly, John Lithgow, Dick Van Dyke (rarely does films now though) and Tim Curry.
I think John Lithgow and Tim Curry are probably best- they aren't big names now- like your average mainstream cinema goer wouldn't know who they are unless they're on the front pages all the time. But Lithgow is great in all his films, so's Curry.
also
Diane Keaton, Bette Midler, Meryl Streep and Susan Sarandon are all brilliant.
consentida 12-30-2003, 01:34 PM My favorite actress Bonnie Bedelia. She starred in Die hard 1&2, Presumed Innocent and lots of TV movies. She's currently on The Division.
Mijada 12-30-2003, 01:47 PM I prefer the older stars over the younger ones any day. I really like Harrison Ford and Robert Redford.
I wish I would have been around when Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart were in their heyday. It would have been cool to go see them in the theater.
Has anyone seen TCMs tribute to the entertainers who passed away this year? Very moving.
