Tough call. Creatively, Dennis ran out of juice after 1979 due to alcohol and drug abuse, so I think he would have had to sober up and take a few years off, then rejoin the band (as I believe he'd been barred from the band since 1980 because of his addictions) and become a creative force again. You have to remember that Dennis had a LOT of personal demons besides just drug and alcohol abuse.

I do think, though, that if a sober Dennis rejoined The Beach Boys, things definitely would have been a lot different in terms of style and songs (and I mean that in a good way).

Kind of an iffy situation with him, though.

Carl definitely would have stayed with the group had his life not been cut short. Believe it or not, I believe Carl was the most important ingredient in the band, as he held the whole thing together. Not only was his voice important to the sound of The Beach Boys, but he also kept the peace in the band. A very important thing.

So if Carl were still with us, we'd still have the Carl, Mike, Al, Bruce, and sometimes Brian version of The Beach Boys.

Who knows what would have happened had Dennis not started drinking, and had Carl not started smoking?

I don't think that Denny would be with them if he were still alive but I have a feeling Carl would be. Denny, in my opinion, would already have his own thing going for him anyways which would've been great to see more of.
