I don't know if you watched this, but I started balling when ABC showed the newspaper article scene in the first episode without John. John Ritter's death came in at number 2. Personally, I don't know what could be more stunning than the sudden death of John, someone we all loved, but I'm sure it was drop-dead outrageous to beat John's death.

What's your take on this?

PS- I'm not insulting TV Guide for voting John's death at #2, but I thought it was stunning enough to be #1. Maybe I just overestimate things.

I just saw what was number 1, and it was this:
Arnold Swarzenegger (sp?) announces on the Tonight Show, whether he's running for Gov. of California.

I don't know how you feel about this, but that really shocked me. I guess celebrity politics pretty much automatically makes #1 in cases like these. But what do I know?

i was glad it was on the countdown, but i also wanted it to be number 1. When I saw Arnold, I went "oh gosh".

At least it was on the countdown. I don't really see how it couldn't be on the countdown. It was truly one of 2003's biggest celebrity shockers. Truly. I was literally ticked off when Arnold and his attempt at politics made #1. I guess I don't find his announcement on the TS being that big of a deal. I thought that John's passing was MUCH more worthy of #1. I guess not.

I really hoped that 8 Simple Rules would be #1 on the countdown. I guess they gave it to Arnold since it's something that more people talk about. I totally agree that 8 Simple Rules deserved to be number one. I guess we should be happy that it made number two for the WHOLE YEAR. That's great!!!!
:thanks: TV Guide!
