I just got the Good Times DVD for Christmas. I noticed the credits (that I have seen thus far) lack the mention of "Ralph Carter, compliments of Raisin". I recall him saying in an interview he was in a play called Raisin when casting was done for Good Times; when he took the role on Good Times, his association with the Raisin production was acknowledged. I even remember seeing this in the credits years ago when Good Times aired on TBS. Anybody else recall this or know the reason the DVD lacks it?

I remember that being in the credit for the First Season but then they dropped that in the remaining years! I saw that E! interview with Ralph and found it rather sad that he appeared to consider his appearance in that play to be one of the main highlights of his life!

"Raisin" was the Broadway musical version of Lorraine Hansberry's award-winning play "A Raisin In The Sun", which, if you're paying attention, bears some striking similarities with "Good Times" (one can see the obvious parralells between Ruth Younger's clan and Florida Evans' brood, though it was probably unintentional and unacknowledged by "Good Times"s creators...)

While "A Raisin In The Sun" was an unqualified hit, spawning a big-budget Hollywood movie starring Sidney Potier and Ruby Dee, "Raisin", on the other hand, didn't do quite as well (to my understanding, at least; I may be mistaken on this score...).

As for Ralph Carter's comments about "Raisin" being one of the highlights of his life...well of course!! Any actor worth his/her salt would KILL to be in a Broadway musical...even an allegedly bad one!!

That's kind of strange that he would find that a high point in his life. When you think about we wouldn't know him if he hadn't been on t.v! Nobody remembers stage actors until they become know in film/television!

I think his being in "Raisin" would mean more to him for other reasons than just wanting to be well known in the public eye, don't you?:(

I just saw a couple of episodes on the second season dvd and 'Ralph Carter courtesy of Raisins' was there. Sometimes it goes by so fast you miss it because it's one of the first credits shown.:dog:
