I have been madly updating my website during my time off work. I found a tape tonight that needs repaired. The entire top part of the tape is broken off. I need to put the spools into another tape case so I can play the tape.

Can someone very specifically give me some advice/hints on how to do this? I did this once a long time ago and I couldn't get the spools transferred. I dont want to lose this tape, it has "That's My Mama" on it!

Okay so it has TAXI on it but nonetheless I want to save it. Help please :)

I recommend going to Secret Defender's treasure chest, he repairs for a very nominal fee or just email and ask his advice. Jason is a good guy

Step one-get a small phillips head screwdriver.

step two-get an old tape to be the shell for the one you want to save.

step 3-you have to take off the 5-6 screws from the old tape-the one that will house the taxi from the damaged tape-these will be on the bottem of the tape,you want to take this one appart first,so if you make a mistake,you mess up something no good,and not the one you want to save.


it is pretty hard to explain what to do next,but try to be carefull,it will be pretty easy to see what to do with the cover off,and just reverse the [process to put the tape you want to save in the replacement shell.


Anyone with dish network,can tape taxi 6 nights a week,on the new york wb or upn,you dont have to live in new york to get the station either,anyone can order it in the superstation pack.I got about 65 episodes from there before i switched back to directv.What episodes do you need?

I dont have a Phillips SD so I'm gonna have to go to Walmart in the morning and get one.

They air Taxi here on my local NBC Sunday nights for 1 hour but that's going to take me forever to get them taped. I dont have very many of them - I need more than I have. These are the episodes I have:

I'd love to get all the episodes that I don't have as well as the retrospective. Someone from Canada is supposed to start taping for me (well we are in the process of setting that up) so I might be able to get the entire series without having to wait to do 2 episodes a week where I live.

Here is my list URL - I've spent an entire week udpating it and I'm still working on it. I had done nothing, and I mean nothing, to it for months. So it's mor eupdated than it has been but it is no where near done yet. I dont have Maude, Harper Valley PTA< etc on it yet.

I dont even have a site up anymore,it became easier for me to just keep a list.

Well you can count on me for the episodes I have,but I wont be getting anymore,cause I lost the channel switching from dish to direct,my locals suck,except for pax has old stuff that I dont even watch.

I wouldnt mind trading again,if you want to,Id probaully like to get blossom,then some maude(never even seen it),and nurses,just whatever would add up to the taxi episodes,not looking for any certain episodes,maybe ones closer to the beggining of the serous.

I can start taping this week,Im coming off my busy season at work.

Just put that tape in one VCR and buy a Blank tape and copy everything off the Tape with the broken top and then throw it away. I had to do that with a tape I received in the mail because it was damaged. So sine it was still able to play, i just dubbed it and threw it in the trash.

I have the taxi's done-looks like there are 60 total--the retrospective is actually episodes 106, and 107--a taxi celebration.


Some turned out to be from nick@nite the early years and old wgn airings,also some uncutt episodes.

I used 16 tapes-probually could have done it on 15 tapes at 4 episodes per tape,but came out to 16.
