View Full Version : World Idol
vienna waits 12-26-2003, 01:07 AM Well that was certainly interesting... I've actually only watched the ones from Kelly and on. I saw the clips at the end though and the rest seemed to SUCK! The whole international singing thing is freaky. Can you believe that that guy who went last has only sold 75,000 copies of his album!?!?!? lol Clay sold 4 times that in his first WEEK. Music must be much less popular over there. That lady who went before Kelly was really awful too. I thought for sure that Simon would have ripped her to shreads. The British guy was pretty cool.
-*Leah*- 12-26-2003, 01:59 AM Yup it was interesting alright. I was watching 'Extra' and they had Simon on there, and he was saying that there was know doubt that Kelly would win it.:) I sure hope she does.
Vegas Girl 12-26-2003, 08:05 AM Kelly blew away the competition.
The only other ones who were good was the second guy (from Australia, I think), the third guy (with the dark glasses)...the last guy who was singing U2, his low voice started out good, I didn't like his higher voice. The British guy that the judges seemed to like (including Simon), I thought he had an odd voice.
David 12-26-2003, 11:00 AM I thought it was kinda boring. lol, except Kelly of course. WHen the Canadian judge said "it aint all that" or something, I felt so sad for her, because she's not used to getting negative comments. But Simon stood up for her, and talked back to the Canadian judge. Go Simon! I thought it was pretty good, except i wanted her to hit that high note.
I thought Heinz Winkler [that just reminds me of Henry Winkler], Guy Sebastian, and WIll Young were pretty okay.
That little short girl was a little too excited as well =]
Vegas Girl 12-26-2003, 06:00 PM Yeah, that short Polish girl was too perky and wasn't even in Kelly's league.
Brian 12-26-2003, 07:48 PM I liked Kelly the best. I think the best one other than her was the guy who went last. I was really surprised when I heard the Canadian judge's comments to her. It's awesome that Simon backed her up and told him off. I must say the Polish judge was sort of wacky.

oh, and did anybody know that Kelly was actually kind of sick during the taping?? Thats what a lot of articles/websites are saying.
Vegas Girl 12-27-2003, 11:32 AM That's saying something, that she sounds better sick than the others did when they were well.

Yah. HaHa!!
vienna waits 12-28-2003, 09:53 AM couple interesting things:
-They didn't say what Alex from Poland's last name was.
-Diana from the Arab countries didn't talk with the hosts.
-How do all of those singers know English? Some of them were speaking in broken English but still, if I was polish I'd probably only know Polish. I took spanish and I still dont think I could communicate with it.
-Heinz does not look African... I thought African men were.... black? That confused me.
-There are some VERY strange similarities between Clay and the Canadian winner. First of all, the look that Clay had before they made him over mirrors what that guy has right now. They were both cut and won in the wildcard show. They both have somewhat similar voices (clay's is better) and they both like to lean over some when they are really hitting those power notes. Did the canadian guy even do the shirt tug like clay? Ironic how nothing was said about this guys looks though. He looks unlike pop star but apparently they aren't as superficial in Canada.
-And a gay guy won in England.. doubt that would happen here.
-Having two hosts suck. Ryan would have made it 100x better.

Yup, kinda like Trenyce. Hmm
-Diana from the Arab countries didn't talk with the hosts.
Yeah, i noticed that too. The only thing I heard her say in English was "Thank you very much"

Very true

South Africa isnt all African American. Kinda weird, eh?

I saw similarities too, although, I didnt really dig Ryan [the Canadian guy]. I thought he was kind of boring.

Also true... and oh, didnt Jim Verraros from Season 1 admit that he was gay?
-Having two hosts suck. Ryan would have made it 100x better.
Totally agree

That's what I thought but then one of my sisters explained it to me. You see a lot of British people have colonized South Africa over the years and Heinz is most likely one of the descendants or one of the people who migrated over there. I did think it was odd because I thought it was mostly black people that lived there but I was wrong.

Well Norway is WAY smaller than the U.S. too Which would add to the much lesser sales.

And just a reminder.... the results show is at 9 PM Eastern Time on New Years...... [it was originally at 8..... but now they have the AI:Life On The Road Special at 8]. I wonder how they're gonna do it

Czas na Zywiec 01-19-2004, 06:24 PM old post, but I'm a little confused. Alex Klaws was the guy and he was from Germany....Alicja (Alicia) Janosz was from Poland. or that's what this site says.

Too bad we couldn't pick a better person to represent us.

Too bad we couldn't pick a better person to represent us. On the show, Alex Klaws, from Germany was called "Alexander Klaws".
Alicja Janosz from Poland, was just called "Alex".. no last name was given
