I have to say Archie Bunker. Archie was definitely entertaining and had the best dry humor in a sitcom. I think Fonzie was more popular with Kids and Archie was more popular with adults.

Archie I feel had humor. Fonzie was not known for generating laughs

Archie, because people still talk about how this show changed television, the reruns are still timely, and all the Fonze did was say "Ayyyyyyyyy!" JMO!

Although I prefer Archie over Fonzie I will have to say as far as being a "pop icon" is concerned it is definitely The Fonz!

The Fonz. All In The Family/Archie will always be known for breaking TV grounds, but when you think of 70s TV Icons, Fonzie just comes to just about everyones minds.

it depends. If you were a kid in the 70s it's the Fonz but if you were an adult back then it's Archie.

I think it depends on who you were. If you were a kid, it was Fonzie because I don't think All In The Family was really popular with kids. If you grew up in the 50's it was Fonzie I'm sure. If you were older than that then it was Archie. I'm guessing Fonzie appealed to Baby Boomers and their kids while Archie appealed to the parents of the Baby Boomers (WW2 vets and the like).

I like Archie better but I'd say The Fonz was and still is more popular.

It's hard to say. AITF was the biggest show of the decade and Archie was everywhere. I was only a kid when it was on but I watched it every week with my family. Fonzie was probably more popular with the kids. I remember the day after Fonzie made the jump over those garbage cans at Arnolds. Everyone was talking about it at school the next day. Plus he was so cool that a lot of the kids would imitate him. Plus AITF dominated the early part of the decade more and HD dominated the later.

yea, I remember the 2-part one where he jumped over those cans on his motorcycle. I was in high school at the time and everyone in my school was talking about it too. They almost made it sound like a "must see" show and if you didn't watch it there was probably something wrong with you.

I hear Pittsburgh is lovely this time of year.

(If anyone actually wants to talk Fonzie vs Archie, go ahead. Just ignore us).
