View Full Version : Everyone Read This Christmas Day Gift Giving Fiasco
Henry727 12-24-2003, 06:37 PM This fiasco happened one Christmas with my Aunt Libby. She came over to our house for Christmas and she brought bags and one of them was my Christmas present inside. She brought the brigade of bags inside the house and put them with everyone elses bags. She came in and everyone was saying Merry Christmas and giving there gifts. Libby was in the background to see who was getting gifts and was waiting to see if i would give her a gift. We could'nt afford a gift because we're not rich. So i was saying Merry Christmas and getting gifts from the rest of my relatives except Aunt Libby. After she saw that everyone got their gifts and everything settled down, Libby was mad that she didnt get a gift. She waited until a time she wouldnt be missed from the gathering and she went upstairs stiffly and slowly grabbed the bag that she knew had my present inside and went into the room above the room where the family was gathered and hid the present away from me. She was looking for a place to hide the gift until she went home when she could disguise the bags with the other bags she brought and got from other relatives and shuffle my present within the group of bags and transport them to her car. She couldnt go to her car to hide the gift because someone would notice her absence from everyone and someone would hear the door opening and Libby walking outside with a bag to her car in the middle of her visit. Everyone was gathered in the room and if someone was to look outside while Libby was in the middle of her shananigans they would see her bringing a bag into her car and she wouldnt be able to explain herself.
Anyways, she heard someone coming up the stairs and paniced and was only able to hide it under a shallow pile of various clothes. Then she pretended like she was looking for something and proceeded to join the family in the room gathered below. She then tried to create a distraction by suggesting that the family sing the twelve days of Christmas with each of the days assigned to various people in the family. When no one would participate she went into the kitchen to mingle and awaited until it was time for her to go. As the day was ending she was so close to leaving, everyone was saying there goodbyes and talking about what they got for christmas. Libby was standing by the couch when a family member descended the staircase and was displaying to the whole room a gift that was underneath a pile of clothes in a room. Libby said Oh i forgot to give you the gift, but no one believed her. She insisted that she forgot to give it and the family got mad and called her names. She got mad that her shananigans didnt work and gave the gift forceably and left in a tantrum.
Everyone tell me what you think.

Rockapella722 12-24-2003, 08:58 PM It would appear that no one has ever informed dear old Aunt Libby that Christmas is about giving, not receiving. To heck with her.
PZelda 12-24-2003, 10:16 PM Ummmmmmm......WTF?
phoebe7165 12-24-2003, 10:19 PM I don't know what to say. I wouldn't care if anybody got me anything, just as long as they liked what I got them. Thanks to the media, WAY TOO MUCH emphasis is spent on gift-giving. Gee, how many gifts are you going to buy this year and how much do you plan on spending??! They had a guy on the news the other day say he's spent $1500 so far. That's crazy!!
Georgia's on my Mind 12-24-2003, 10:33 PM umm... are you libby?

What does that mean? Did you not read my post? I wrote that I didn't care if anybody got me anything. I could go through every Christmas and not get one present for the rest of my life, and I wouldn't care. As long as I was able to spend time with my family, that's enough for me. And I certainly wouldn't pull something like what Aunt Libby did and hide the present and try to get it back to the car just because I didn't get a present in return.

actually its about the birth of christ. ho ho ho. :santa2:
(however sarah the atheist agrees with aunt libby that receiving is 100000x better than giving :))

did ANYONE get her a gift? a card? a thoughtful sneer?
- maybe next time your whole family can chip in together and shove her in front of a bus

Sounds to me that everyone she got a gift for, got her a gift in return, but since phoebe7165 couldnt afford one, Aunt Libby decided to 'hide' phoebe7165's. Its selfish and the only thing you shouldve gotten her was a bowl of cry baby soup.

WHAT? I don't get what you're saying. I didn't even start this thread. Henry727 did, yet somehow I've gotten involved with this story about Aunt Libby. So I don't know what you mean about me not being able to afford my presents. I make a very, very nice living. Oh, yes, I can certainly afford to buy presents, but if I never receive any more presents for the rest of my life, that would be fine with me. My parents are not in the best of health so every year, if I get to have them for one more Christmas, that is 'gift' enough for me.
*InThisMoment* 12-25-2003, 02:55 AM Um. Whoa... Thats just one weird story.

She had a little accidental slip of the eye and confused your screen name with Henry's, I'm sure. She's not purposely accusing you of having an Aunt Libby, being Aunt Libby, or even giving a hoot about someone elses Aunt Libby. Don't worry ;)

PZelda 12-25-2003, 02:26 PM Haha....Did anybody notice Henry has PM's and emails turned off? ;)
Henry727 12-25-2003, 11:12 PM Why, Vicki you wanna pm me?
Henry727 12-25-2003, 11:15 PM Aunt Libby pretended like nothing happened last year, but she did she did give me a present, maybe she learned her lesson that her shananigans werent gonna work. I didnt like her present but at least she didnt hide it, and i gave her something for christmas because i was afraid she would get mad if she didnt get anything and go crazy. I gave her a box of assorted choclates and she said oh and heres your gift, after i gave her mine, maybe she was gonna hide my present again?
