It can but it isn't done to often. Back in the 80's Charles In Charge and Mama's Family were both canceled early but came back to produce more shows. It doesn't happen as much today.

Actually came across an interview with Rider who said there was some discussion about bringing BMW back but he wasn't interested.

It's happened, not years after a show was cancelled months maybe. BMW was cancelled at the end of the 4 th season, this isn't really well known, I remember reading that but ABC realized the show had potential and brought it back a few months later.

I don't think the show would be the same now, and I don't think the actors would be interested in it either :)

Family Guy was cancelled by Fox and now there is talk about bringing it back after a couple of years of being cancelled!

There were numerous attempts to bring back 'The Brady Bunch' but they were pretty lame.

Although I'd watch it, I don't think BMW needs to come back. It had a nice seven season run. We saw Cory, Shawn and Topanga grow up.

If any show needs to come back from cancellation, it's "Andy Richter Controls the Universe".

From what I've read, ABC did want BMW to do an 8th season, but the actors turned them down, they wanted to move on, Ben Savage wanted to finish up college and Rider wanted to move on to movies and other things.

i don't think they need to pick up the show again, for one they left it off at a good place, and it's better to leave us laffin, cuz they could come back and it could suck, then we'd just be disapointed.

It'll be cool if they picked up the show again, but it's been cancelled since 1999. It's been a while ago.

It has been awhile, but the show went off the air in May 2000, not 1999 :)

AbFab did it in 2001, after a long pause!
Now they come back every other year with new episodes.

As a bit of an AbFab fan myself, I don't think it was ever really canceled. I don't know that it was ever meant to be a regular series. They only make 6 episodes at a time, sort of whenever they (Jennifer Saunders I think) feel like. I'm sure she did intend to end it at one stage but got talked into bringing it back, which seems to keep happening.
