hi fol fans one of my fave ep was the one with jermaine jackson and i was thinking would you have let tootie go to the concert after her hissy fit that she threw . with mrs. garrett or not i dont care what mrs. garrett told the other i girls itwas a tanturm pure and simple what do you think?

That episode always annoyed me because of her fit.

ide say no, but not because she was going insane about it. because she was ditching everything else just so she could worship jermaine. besides, she would of probably found a way to get to the concert anyway, or at least tried. but i agree that whole hissy fit thing annoyed the heck outta me

That episode bugged me too.Tootie's behavior was so pathetic.She had made a committment by promising the other girls a helping hand in something[I forget excactly what it was].Like Mrs.Garret had told her,there would be other opportunities like the one she recieved.Overall I found Tootie to be so immature in that episode,it was practically hilarious.:lol:

it was to help with a schalorship fair that jo orginized and tootie was supposed to make 24 scarfes i misspelled again

But y'all are forgettin', this wasn't just a "fit"...Tootie was hysterical. I'm sure it'd be tough for you if someone was actually on the verge of losin' it, and goin' completely and utterly hysterical on you.

That said, if her behavior scared me as much as it did Mrs. G., I probably woulda taken her to, just cause I knew she woulda been determined enough to get there anyway---probably in a very dangerous way, just as Mrs. Garrett foresaw.

Mrs. G.: "Oh, she was gonna get to that concert if she had to jump out the window and run all the way to New York City..."

Jo: "Come on, Mrs. G....not Tootie."

Blair: "I didn't know that all someone had to do to get their was around here was throw a tantrum."

Natalie: "I gotta work on my kicking and screaming!"

Mrs. G." "This was no tantrum, girls...you didn't see her. She was...hysterical...It reminded me of those films I would see in the '60s of these girls going crazy over the Beetles....it scared me..."

That was the point of that scene, to show the viewer that Tootie didn't just "throw a tantrum". She was goin' out of her mind with hysteria, and it was a real dilemma.

I kinda like that episode. A lot of young girls do become obsessed with a particular singer or boy band. I think Mrs. Garrett was right in letting her go to the concert because she got to see that she was one of many fans and that the special relationship she thought she had with Jermaine was imaginary.

Thanks! I remember seeing a similiar episode of Growing Pains. Ben went to a rock concert and got to meet his favorite singer backstage. The singer turned out to be totally different than who Ben thought he was. I think Ben went home and took down his posters of the singer. I haven't seen this episode of Growing Pains in a long time so I'm not sure.

Alan Thicke wrote The Facts of Life Theme Song so maybe this episode of The Facts of Life inspired the Growing Pains writers.

Yes,that's quite possible.Sitcom episodes tend to be very simular to one another.The writers often have the same basic ideas.:)

At 14 years old, i rather see my childhood hero over a boring scholarship fair. Way more interesting.
