My Birthday celebration was a hoot last night, but unfortunatly some bad news put a damper on the festivities.

My roomie is losing his job next week. The partners that run his financial firm have decided to move to other firms and persue seperate careers, and the poor bastards who work for them were told "thanks guys, here's two weeks severence pay, good luck."
I tried to be as positive as possible, I mean the guy is very good at what he does and he has tons of contacts so he's sure to find another job in a few weeks, but he's really depressed about it.

The sad thing is he really has no money saved up, so things are going to be tough for him until he finds work. For the first time in recent memory I actually have more money than he does.

Let this be a lesson to you kids, save some money for a rainy day.

Aww, I am so sorry to hear that. Maybe your friend will find a great job really soon. And thanks for the ''rainy day comment'', that really is a good idea.:) Everyone should have a little bit of money stuck back for emergencies.

One thing that's really bumming my buddy out about this whole situation is that his girlfriend really has not gotten the concept that he has no money.
He's trying to tell her he can't pay his bills and she's asking him where they should go away to for new years.

I guess you can forget about a Christmas present from him this year.

j/k. That's really too bad about your roomie. I know so many people that have lost their jobs, including my husband.

Sorry to hear about your friend, TJL. I am so glad I am bit of a tight wad, because I was out of a job for along time and I was living off of my savings. There is no such thing as job security anymore and it's scary out there.
