NOTE: The following message also appears as a "Follow-up" message in the "Yay For Tony!!!" thread (which it really has nothing to do with) ....I forgot to set it up as a "New Message". Sorry about that....(I KNEW I should have had that second cup of coffee this morning!):
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"WINGS" had some GREAT Christmas episodes! (Actually, the only one that I didn't care for was the one where Joe got the Video Store lady fired...but that really wasn't hardcore "Holiday"-themed....That plot could have happened at ANY time of the year!).
The Christmas episodes were FAR from the sentimental, schmaltzy fare that we often see in other series' holiday episodes. In fact, "Wings" seemed to showcase aspects of the holidays that many people HATE! (Getting together with people that you really don't want to see, pressure to put on the "perfect" Christmas party, getting the short end of a gift exchange, etc.).
Like our earlier discussion about dark "black comedy" episodes that deal with death and the like, "Wings" ignored it's image as a "nice, benign" sitcom to give us some Christmas episodes that humorously show the truly NASTY side of the holidays!
