Hello. I'm the new kid on the block.. Due to unfortunate circumstances beyond my control, I have been forced to look for Lucy elsewhere. This place has been highly recommended by a friend so I thought I would check it out. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Hi ya TJ, nice to see you here, it's dead lately here but it sometimes booms, so any day now it will get back to it's usual ways and it's more ADULT here than the OTHER place.

Yes, it has been dead here. But don't worry, we just need one good controversial topic to get this party started. Quick, someone bring that Cesar Romero thread out of storage!

Anyway, welcome! :)

Cesar Romero had the hots for Desi and they got together, wow! Yes, that WAS a shocker. He also dated Lucy at one point. Wonder if he ever made a move on Carole? Paula? De De? If this goes nowhere, i give up!

Sounds like fun to me. Perhaps we should all start having flings?! Splain, you me will be a nice warring couple, then Ricardos4Ever and crazyredhead can make up a twosome, then when the music stops it's all change... no, that's a different game.

I'm moving to Hollywood. It's more interesting there.

Come on now, you know most people move on after a while. Thank God for the stalwarts like Dawsongirl and the two you mentionned. OnlyOneLucy is very busy lately and Jen is dealing with personal matters, i'm sure they will come on when they see something different or worthwile to talk about. Me, i still miss Jane! Bekah, even when they piss you off as you said, you don't mind it so much when it's someone who KNOWS what they're talking about. And the four people mentionned could curl your hair with what they know. There are still others like Ricardos forever and a few others who are just as knowledgeable but can control their opinions, wish they would titch me how!

Remember though that some people DO have contact with Lucy insiders, and sometimes you get told these stories that you just find unbelievable, but they heard Lucy say these things or saw it with their own eyes, you can't get angry, you just have to do what Ricardosforever does, you have to be fair, i also do that, every time someone attacks Lucy, i defend her, but when i do i try to also remember that she was not perfect either, none of us is, we are all human and flawed! But i DO agree with you though, i've seen old threads also, and it's true, they DO get you angry all over again! LOL!

crazyredhead
12-23-2003, 03:30 PM
LOL! I'm not diagreeing with any true facts they have, it's just some of the things they said. They were not being fair to Desi AT ALL! Like saying how stupid it was for us loving Desi, now that was ridiculous. Dawsongirl closed that thread, thank God.

By the way, Claude, who attacks Lucy?

LOL!! :p Hey now, I wasn't attacking LUCY or DESI. Still, she can afford to be criticized a little can't she Claude? lol

SPLAIN
12-26-2003, 04:57 PM
All human beings have flaws, i just think that when they criticize her parenting skills they have to take into account who she was and what she had on her plate, that lifestyle and reputation that she had got those two kids set up for life, the millions they have to spend NOW are because she worked so much back then to guarantee that lifestyle. Her lawyers said she did not want to wind up with hundreds of millions, she always said she just wanted her kids taken care of, and God knows they didn't get that from their dad. HOWEVER, seing as i spend money like Desi did, i can certainly understand how he wanted to live every minute to the fullest and enjoy his money, whereas Lucy deprived herself and didn't enjoy everything she could have, and worked so hard to get. You don't want the government taxes taking your millions when you die. So better to enjoy the money and let your kids make their own future, besides, with leaving them in charge of their likenesses for the rest of their lives, their children's children will be taken care of!

crazyredhead
12-26-2003, 06:04 PM
Yes, I agree with you. I know Lucy was a good mother who loved her kids, and taught them well. Desi loved his kids very much, the only thing that gets me is that he was a very bad example. I am very amazed at how those poor kids could see (or hear) all their parent's terrible fights and watch their father be drunk a great deal of the time. I wonder if their kids understand about Desi's cheating or knew about it? They don't mention it that much during interviews, even though I know now that they know about it.
Desi did though make time for his kids when he was home, but I heard from Lucie that when she came home she wouldn't spend time with them.

Ricardos4ever
12-26-2003, 11:26 PM
I don't necessarily think that Desi was a bad example in all aspects. He certainly was with the drinking, but he had a whole refreshing outlook on life that he was able to show his children, and it sounds like they appreciated it. He was also better at showing his affection for them -- something that Lucy had more trouble doing. Desi certainly wore his heart on his sleeve. So to say that he was a bad examble, period, wouldn't be accurate. He showed his kids how to appreciate life, whereas Lucy was more about instilling in them the need to work hard in life, strive to do your best. Kids need that contrast.

crazyredhead
12-27-2003, 09:31 AM
Yes, I love how Desi impressed the miracle of nature on his kids. Desi seemed to appreciate every aspect of it, the sunsets and stuff. Like Desi Jr said in the home movies. :)

SPLAIN
12-29-2003, 02:42 PM
Actually, it's hard to think of a better set up, a mother who thinks you should work hard and appreciate everything and do everything in moderation, and a father who wants you to appreciate all of God's gifts and live every minute as if it were your last. Those kids had it made. However, if you keep dwelling on their negative aspects, you come off as a crybaby who appears spoiled and can't move on.

I have nothing against Lucie, she did produce the best documentary on her parents, however, she should remember that all celebrity children have to watch what they say about their parents or their fans will ignite, as has happened to me many times.

Kazza
12-31-2003, 03:36 PM
Sorry to 'ignite you' but some things just can't be covered up. She had issues with her mother and I don't blame her for it; just that she finds the closure for them and move on.

I don't know about that. ;) Anyone with money can put a hot tub in their backyard but not everyone can act. Talent isn't just an addition.

There are loads of scenes from the series that somehow get overlooked, i would add the bus tour of Hollywood homes, that one's a classic from start to finish, AND had the bonus back then of giving us fans the first look we ever had of Lucy's REAL house.

crazyredhead
01-02-2004, 05:58 PM
That was soo cool! Wasn't that the part when it showed the side of that white house?

MagsLovesLucy

When Lucy and Ethel are shown walking towards Richard Widmark's house, the house in that shot is Lucy and Desi's Beverly Hills home on Roxbury Drive. :)

SPLAIN
01-05-2004, 10:32 AM
But of course when i saw it as a kid, i assumed it was Richard Widmark's house, not knowing what a thrill it was to finally see Lucy's house, that took a few more years. Then in the fan magazines, they started showing Lucy at the pool or on the patio, or with the kids or at the front door, but you never saw the house properly. Check out a copy of the Barbara Walters interview, there are two versions, one short and one longer, and you see the garage, the backyard, the entrance hall, master bedroom and master bath, living room, and den, it's a knockout!
