this sure sounds great....anything to see the cast together again....i just wish that it weren't a retrospective type. That is, I wish this reunion special were done like the Dick Van Dyke Show-Revisited is done-an actual show, and not just a bunch of interviews.

It looks like the deal with TV Land for the reunion fell through, unfortunately. HOWEVER, ABC is now in production to air the reunion! It'll probably not air until February, because of the delay. More info will come soon...

Henry Winkler and his partner Michael Levitt are executive producing the show.

As of now, the entire cast is scheduled to reunite at Arnold's, play a softball game and share memories of Happy Days.

From Variety:

"Happy Days" are here again at ABC.

Alphabet has given the thumbs up -- Heyyyyyy! -- to "The Happy Days 30," a two-hour reunion special marking the 30th anniversary of Garry Marshall's classic laffer. All of the show's original cast -- including Ron Howard (Richie) and Henry Winkler (the Fonz) -- have signed on to appear in the special, which Winkler will exec produce with Michael Levitt.

No airdate has been set, though special seems a natural for a sweeps appearance, possibly as soon as November.

Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams, aka "Laverne & Shirley," also will take part in the reunion. And, in a "Happy Days" first, Gavin O'Herlihy and Randolph Roberts -- the two actors who played long-lost Cunningham sibling Chuck -- will appear together on the same show.

Also set to appear: Garry Marshall, Tom Bosley, Marion Ross, Erin Moran, Anson Williams, Don Most, Scott Baio, Pat Morita, Crystal Bernard, Linda Purl and Cathy Silvers.

"It was an absolute no-brainer," said ABC alternative topper Andrea Wong. "We've wanted to do this for a long time, and Henry Winkler recently called up and said the whole cast is willing to do it."

In addition to the usual assortment of clips and interviews, "Happy Days 30" will feature footage from a cast/crew softball game to be played this weekend (Sept 11). Tradition was initiated by Marshall 30 years ago to foster a sense of family on the set; highlights from the game will help introduce clips.

The games "were so much a part of our culture that we felt it would be a great centerpiece for the reunion," Winkler told Daily Variety.

Winkler said the softball games grew so big that the "Happy Days" gang began playing games for charity, even taking their softball act on the road.

"We played for the troops in Germany and Okinawa," he said. "We just moved as a unit. Garry felt that it could not help but make the team that worked together on the show stronger."

Winkler and Levitt, who teamed to produce the final two seasons of the recent "Hollywood Squares" revival, are also set to produce CBS' upcoming "Dallas" reunion.

Another portion of the special will be shot in front of a studio audience at CBS Television City, where the original series was produced.

"Happy Days" bowed in January 1974 and ran for 11 seasons, exiting ABC's sked in 1984. It gave birth to three spinoffs: "Laverne & Shirley," "Mork & Mindy" and "Joanie Loves Chachi."

In addition to Winkler and Levitt, Greg Sills will serve as supervising producer for the special, with Gary Tellalian, Fred Fox and Stephen Pouliot onboard as producers. Linda Mendoza will direct.

This reunion sounds great -- it looks like they've really tried to bring everybody back. A few names are missing, though. I would really like to see Lynda Goodfriend and Al Molinaro (although he's 85 now, so maybe he's not well enough to participate).

Can't believe they managed to snag BOTH Chucks!

I don't think Al Molinaro has been in anything since his 1992 appearance on Step by Step. Ted McGinley is also missing. I'm guessing he will be busy working on Hope & Faith.

Oh yeah -- never even noticed that Ted's name was missing from the list. Billy Warlock, too (not that I'm fussed about that).

Would also be nice if the Tuscadaro gals would show up -- maybe they could come with the Malachis.

Great line-up, though. Wonder if the special will be included as an extra on a future DVD release.

I just found out McGinley will be at the softball game (since ABC is having their Primetime Preview Weekend at Disney Sept. 10-12), but no idea about the reunion taping.

OK, a set date is now set! It will now air Thursday, February 3 from 8 to 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC!

ABC BRINGS BACK A SLICE OF AMERICAN POP CULTURE WHEN THE ORIGINAL CAST OF “HAPPY DAYS” GATHERS TO CELEBRATE 30 YEARS, IN THE “HAPPY DAYS 30th ANNIVERSARY REUNION,” AIRING THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 3 ON THE ABC TELEVISION NETWORK

Ron Howard, Henry Winkler, Marion Ross and many other “Happy Days” original cast members will reunite to celebrate the 30th anniversary of one of the most beloved and successful series on American television, in the “Happy Days 30th Anniversary Reunion” special, airing THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 3 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on The ABC Television Network.

In the two-hour reunion, series stars Scott Baio, Tom Bosley, Ron Howard, Erin Moran, Don Most, Marion Ross, Anson Williams and Henry Winkler will be joined by special guest stars Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams, plus a few surprise visitors, to reminisce about their fondest moments from the show’s enormously successful eleven-year run.

The special will include:

* Footage from the cast and crew softball game played this fall -- Cunningham Hardware vs. Arnold’s Diner -- a tradition initiated 30 years ago by creator/executive producer Garry Marshall as a way to encourage teamwork and a sense of family among the group. Tom Bosley calls the play- by-play.

* Behind-the-scenes antics with the cast, original “Happy Days” bloopers, flubbed lines, dropped props and even The Fonz making out Mrs. C.

* Hilarious and heartwarming clips, including classic scenes when Richie, Ralph, Potsie and The Fonz go on a panty raid, Joanie and ChaChi sharing their first kiss and the cast discussing the famous scene that started the “jump the shark” phenomenon.

* Little-known facts about the cast, like how Henry Winkler helped Ron Howard get the green light on his first film, and why The Fonz wore a leather jacket.

* For the first time, the long-lost brother – both actors who played Chuck -- together in one show.

Appearing in the special are “Happy Days” creator/executive producer Garry Marshall and original series cast members Scott Baio as ChaChi, Tom Bosley as Howard “Mr. C” Cunningham, Ron Howard as Richie Cunningham, Erin Moran as Joanie Cunningham, Don Most as Ralph Malph, Marion Ross as Marion “Mrs. C” Cunningham, Anson Williams as Warren “Potsie” Weber and Henry Winkler as Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli. Also appearing are such special guest stars as Danny Butch as Spike, Lynda Goodfriend as Lori Beth, Clint Howard as Junior, Ted McGinley as Roger Phillips, Pat Morita as Arnold, both Gavin O’Herlihy and Randolph Roberts as Chuck, the long-lost brother, Linda Purl as Ashley Pfister and Cathy Silvers as Jenny Piccalo. In addition guest stars Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams -- who later starred in their own spin-off comedy series (1976-83), after the title characters Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney debuted as Fonzie’s quirky friends on “Happy Days” – will appear.

Set in Milwaukee in the carefree 1950s, “Happy Days” began production in 1974 and centered around high school junior Richie Cunningham (Ron Howard), his family, Howard “Mr. C” Cunningham (Tom Bosley) and Marion “Mrs. C” Cunningham (Marion Ross), his friends Potsie Weber (Anson Williams) and Ralph Malph (Don Most). Originally fifth-billed, Arthur “The Fonz” Fonzarelli (Henry Winkler), the thumbs-up biker, increased in popularity as the series grew to be the number one show with TV audiences for ten years as it followed the “Happy Days” gang through their life changes, including college, the army, marriage and even kids. The final episode aired on July 12, 1984. Throughout its successful eleven-year run, the series received three Emmy nominations in the directing and editing categories, while series stars Henry Winkler, Tom Bosley and Marion Ross earned a total of six Emmy nominations for their performances.

Henry Winkler and Michael Levitt are executive producers, Greg Sills is supervising producer, Linda Mendoza is director and Gary Tellalian, Fred Fox and Stephen Pouliot are co-producers.

It was "That '50s Show," really. In 1974, movies like American Graffiti and Grease set off a '50s nostalgia boom, and ABC rushed out a series that revived doo-wop during the decade of disco. They had no idea its popularity would stretch right into the era of hair bands. Now, the original cast reunites for the Happy Days 30th Anniversary Reunion Special (airing Thursday, Feb. 3 at 8 pm/ET, on ABC). Here are some exclusive behind-the-scenes anecdotes they shared with TV Guide.

How it all began
Anson Williams (Potsie): We had done a pilot that didn't sell, which aired on Love, American Style. Tom [Bosley] and Erin [Moran] weren't in it. The parts of Fonzie and Ralph weren't there. Then, a year later, American Graffiti came out. Once that became a hit, ABC said, "Hey, didn't we have a show like that? Let's do another pilot."

Henry Winkler (Fonzie): You didn't even imagine then that any of what happened to us would happen. When we went on the air, we were No. 48 in the ratings. Everything that the show experienced was a surprise.

Backstage pass
Erin Moran (Joanie Cunningham): My first day on the job, Tom, Marion, Ron and I were in the hall of the Cunningham house, waiting to do our first scene. I knew who Ron Howard was and I was so nervous. He recognized that and said, "Would you like a piece of gum?" I said yes. That set the mood. It was so sweet and a good way to deal with a scared 12-year-old.

Marion Ross (Mrs. Cunningham): We'd sit together an hour before the show. Tom would be saying something to one of the boys and then say, "You know your mother said..." And I'd have to go, "Tom, I'm not his mother!" For a moment, you'd forget the characters weren't real.

Moran: Marion and Tom were almost like real parents. They were very open and honest about whether they liked a guy [I was dating] or not. Right before I turned 18, I met a motorcycle cop, and nobody liked this guy. They were adults and knew darn well he wasn't good for me. And, turns out they were right.

Bigger than the Beatles?
Don Most (Ralph): Henry and I were making an appearance in Paramus, N.J., and thousands of teenagers were there, a lot of whom were girls. We were supposed to sign autographs, and the police couldn't control the crowd. All of a sudden, it was getting scary and the police said, "We have to get you out of here." There was this fountain behind us that was the only way out. So we climbed up it in our clothes to get away from the madness. They whisked us away, made us lie down in the car, used a decoy limousine. And suddenly I thought, "OK, something is going on here that's a bit different."

Ron Howard (Richie): I remember I had a hat that was particularly precious to me. I thought it was my lucky hat. We were surrounded by this big mob once, and it got ripped off my head. I chased the guy down and got it back before we jumped into a limo to get away. It was like a scene from the Beatles movie Help! I thought at that moment, "I have to be a director. They don't get chased down streets."

Aaaay!
Winkler: People connected with the Fonz at age 3. I'd get little children coming up to me, who knew nothing about the world, and giving me the thumbs-up.

Moran: In the middle of being the No. 1 show, I did an interview on the set, and the interviewer said, "Do you know how big this show is?" I said, "Yeah. Sure." Then he said, "Do you know what the two most popular words in the world are?" I said, "Hi, mom." He said, "No, it's 'the Fonz.'"

Williams: Even when Henry was the No. 1 star in the world, he kept the same crappy green dressing room. He never changed. He was so opposite to the character, a sensitive and sweet guy.

Play ball!
Most: The Happy Days softball team started off when Ron and I joined a serious softball league and we brought Henry in. Garry [Marshall, the series executive producer/writer] loved to play ball and saw we were doing this. So he created a team with the whole cast and had us do charity games. I think Gary saw this as a way to get us more bonded than we already were. It grew to the point where we started going on the road to play in Wrigley Field and Shea Stadium in New York.

Ross: On a Monday morning, there was so much baseball talk we could barely get through the script.

Howard: The most exciting game we played was in the old Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia. There was a packed crowd, an absolute sellout. We were playing against a bunch of celebrities from a local sports station, and some ex-athletes. We were leading 2-1, and they had two runners on and two outs in the last inning. Hal Greer, the former 76ers guard, hit a long fly ball high in left to me, and I heard the whole crowd going crazy. I was sweating it out, saying to myself, "Drop it and you look like a horse's ass." But I caught it! It was a great moment! We expected to get killed in this game. It felt so rewarding. I'd compare it to the first couple of times the show cracked No. 1.

For more Happy Days memories, pick up a copy of this week's magazine, on newsstands Thursday.

I thought that the reunion special was VERY well done!

They really needed two hours for this show....one hour just wouldn't have cut it! This special had the usual "classic clips", but there was also plenty of new material, with the cast as they are now.

I was surprised at how GOOD everyone looked too! Oh sure, there were a few gray hairs and wrinkles here and there, but on the whole the gang held up pretty well. There wasn't any cast member who made me think, "Oh my GOD, what happened to HIM (or HER)?".

This was a very pleasant special, and the cast members seemed genuinely happy to see each other again....although I DID notice that they seated Erin Moran and Scott Baio on opposite ends of the re-created "Arnold's" set!

Unfortunately, Erin had some very rough years after "Happy Days" ended. I remember seeing her making a particularly embarrassing appearance on "The Morton Downey Jr." talk show (which was one step up from "Jerry Springer").....I actually thought that the poor girl was having a nervous breakdown right there on TV!

Considering some of the bad stuff that she went through, she actually looks pretty good!

Well, I enjoyed it. It really was cool seeing all those outtakes & bloopers, practical jokes. And seeing the cast all up on the stage was so nice.

I'll admit, I was never a regular viewer, but at my age (30s) I sure can remember the hype around it & how all these kids in school used to talk about The Fonz! It did bring back some nice memories.

Do kids today have a similar tv hero, I wonder? Or has that died w/ the 70s? Maybe Cosby might've taken up that torch for adults in the 80s(?)

Anyway, about the show last night, there was something a little....I dunno..'contrived'-looking about it. Just me, or did Scott Baio keep having a "This is such BS" look on his face?

I think the fact it was scripted & *highly* edited (during the stage/reunion parts) made it feel sorta phony. Garry Marshall's hosting came across as a bit of a "reading". I can't put my finger on it.

They also could've cut the baseball game segment a bit shorter & the commercial breaks came WAY too frequently.

Personally, I believe the show went noticably downhill after it began to *look* too 70s. (ie: Leather Tuscadero, too much focus on Scott etc) And even back then, I thought "Joannie Loves Chachie" was the dumbest idea.

At any rate, I was glad to simply see them all in the same room again. :)

/QUOTE]

I didn't really notice a look like that on Scott's face, but if he DID feel that way, he SHOULDN'T have. Frankly (and I KNOW that I'm going to make a lot of Baio fans mad at me for this), he was lucky that he was included in the reunion as much as he was! I never considered him part of the core "varsity team" (Howard, Winkler, Williams, Most, Moran, Bosley and Ross), and the addition of Chachi did a LOT to ruin the series....so Scott should consider himself fortunate that he was included (and honored) as much as he was last night, and allowed to sit there with the "big kids"!

I was supposed to tape it for a friend of mine who LOVES HD and my VCR messed up so it didn't work. :( He's really upset about it so I'm searching the internet looking for anyone that would be willing to sell me a copy. Hi all...
If I recall this was a sore subject for Erin back then and probably is today. If you noticed during the Q&A, Gary M. said we have a question for you, to Erin and it was cut. Instead it look like she just commented on being part of the cast. I wonder if the question had something to do with her relationship with Scott[??]. I noticed Scott B. isn't married [no ring] and is probably still playing the field. Also, he was seated at the opposite end from Erin.

Overall it was a great program, [the multitude of commercials seems to be the norm now].

Early Ratings Report:

ABC kicks big butt
with 'Happy Days'

Who would have thought? Twenty million tune in.

The debate can finally end: "Happy Days" has most assuredly not jumped the shark.
Thursday night’s ABC “Happy Days 30th Anniversary Reunion” brought the network its best Thursday numbers since 2003’s Michael Jackson special to kick off the February sweeps.
According to Nielsen overnights, ABC averaged an impressive 6.3 adults 18-49 rating for the two-hour reunion beginning at 8 p.m. Nearly 20 million total viewers also caught the show, giving ABC the best numbers for any network during the period from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
NBC did manage the nightly win among 18-49s after ABC dropped dramatically at 10 p.m., but ABC bettered NBC among households and total viewers for the night. CBS finished first in both those categories despite airing a “CSI” repeat at 8 p.m.
Thursdays are ABC’s weakest night, and 8 p.m. has been especially grim. Recent time slot occupant “life as we know it” averaged a mere 1.4 18-49 rating.
“Happy Days” more than tripled that rating, averaging a 6.2 during the 8 p.m. hour. NBC’s “Joey” averaged just a 4.3, 10 percent off its season-to-date 4.8 average, and “Will & Grace” averaged a 4.8, 6 percent off its season average of 5.1.
“Happy Days” pulled ABC’s best Thursday numbers since it aired a Michael Jackson special to kick off the November sweeps two years ago. That show drew some 27 million total viewers.
“Happy Days” gives ABC a welcome boost to start the sweeps period, when it has a good chance at finishing first or second to “American Idol”-fueled Fox.
But the news was not so good for NBC, which needed the two weeks before “Survivor” returns to build up its edge over CBS. Once “Survivor” comes back, CBS will once again dominate Thursdays. NBC no longer has one night a week when it can consistently win 18-49s.
As usual, an original episode of CBS's "CSI" was the highest-rated show among viewers 18-49, but its 8.9 average rating barely edged an 8.8 by NBC's "ER." NBC took the night in the demo, averaging a 6.9 rating and a 17 share. CBS was second at 6.2/15, ABC third at 5.2/13, Fox fourth at 2.5/6, UPN fifth at 1.6/4 and the WB sixth at 0.8/2.
At 8 p.m. ABC led with the first hour of "Happy Days" averaging a 6.2 rating among 18-49s. NBC finished second that hour with a 4.6 average for "Joey" (4.3) and "Will & Grace" (4.8), followed by CBS's 3.7 average for a "CSI" rerun. Fox was fourth with a 3.4 average for "The O.C."
CBS jumped into the lead at 9 p.m. with "CSI's" 8.9 average among 18-49s. NBC was second with a 7.2 average for "The Apprentice" and ABC third with a 6.3 average for the last hour of the "Happy Days" special.
At 10 p.m. NBC took the lead with "ER's" 8.8 average, followed by a 6.0 average for CBS for "Without a Trace." ABC was third that hour with a 3.1 average for "Primetime."
CBS finished the night first among households, averaging a 12.0 rating and an 18 share. ABC was second at 10.4/16, NBC third at 9.5/15, Fox fourth at 3.6/5, UPN fifth at 3.2/5 and the WB sixth at 1.7/3. CBS averaged 18.5 million total viewers to ABC’s 16.3 million and NBC’s 14.3 million.

Yes, and I noticed something else....There was a part where Gary Marshall approached Erin and said, "Erin, you grew up during "Happy Days...", and Erin sort of rolled her eyes and sarcastically said, "I sure DID!". There was SOMETHING there between her and Scott, and it obviously wasn't too pleasant.

If you remember, years ago there was an earlier "reunion" special with the "Happy Days" gang (not HALF as good as THIS one was), and the cast sat around and talked about the series...but Erin refused to appear on that show. During a later interview, she said that she was sitting home watching the special with her husband....and when Scott Baio started casually talking about the "thing" that he and Erin had during the run of "Happy Days", Erin was FURIOUS and went WILD! She said that she jumped up from the sofa and started screaming to her husband (and the TV set), "I can't BELIEVE that he's going on TV and TALKING about that as if it was NOTHING!". I've heard some nasty rumors of what happened between the two of them (let's just say it has something to do with "When a girl says 'No" she MEANS 'No'"), and it took Erin a long time to get over it....if she indeed HAS!

Pavan

The numbers:

Happy Days was #1 in the 8pm hour overall and viewers 18-49. 12.8/20 overall (20.6 million) and a 6.3/15 among adults 18-49.

Happy Day was #2 in the 9pm hour overall (behing only CSI) and a close third for viewers 18-49. 12.2/18 overall (19.29 million) and and a 6.4/15 for adults 18-49.

That is quite impressive that it dominated like that. It held up well with CSI at 9pm. It beat The Apprentice by a ton overall, though it did have an advantage among adults 18-49.

So from 8-10pm, Happy Days averaged a 12.5/19 - 19.95 milion average. "Goodbye gray skies, hello blue," to ABC Thursdays!

I was very, very glad to see Erin Moran at the Reunion (but Erin and Scott seemed isolated from everyone else.)

About halfway through the special I realized that Al Molinaro was not involved. Yet again, it's another incomplete reunion. But they did bring out the two Chucks, WHICH WAS POINTLESS.

When they brought out the cake did Erin and Scott hug each other?

I must say the first thing I notices was the distance between Scott and Erin- it was very noticable- She seemed like she wanted to make nicey nice, but Scott seemed very "dont bother me" about the whole thing not just toward Erin- it was slightly uncomfortable-I am surprised at Scott- Him and I come from the same neighborhood- in Brooklyn! ha ha... all went well though

Wow, that pretty impressive. Lets hear it for the Happy Days Reunion!!!

Brent88
02-04-2005, 06:09 PM

WOW... that's EXTREMELY impressive. I thought the reunion would do good, but this is more than I expected.

Wow. 20 million viewers? That's amazing!

Hopefully, with the high ratings of the reunion special and the fact that the first season DVD set is selling pretty fast (a few days ago on Amazon, it was ranked #1,118 in sales and now it's #92), Paramount will hurry up and release the second season!

I really enjoyed the reunion. It was great to see everybody together again and I loved the bloopers and the home movies. It was hilarious when Henry started kissing Marion! I agree with some of you here about Scott Baio. I noticed that he seemed very bored and detached, like he didn't want to be there.

I haven't seen Garry Marshall before but he seems like a funny guy. I wish we could've had more of Pat Morita and I wish the guy who played Al made an appearance. But overall it was awesome. Good job Happy Days!!! :woohoo:

Cheers
Fan805

LOL that was so funny though when Garry went up to Scott and said "Why are you sitting so far away it's like you're at a Charles in Charge reunion."

So was I, it's cool that they're all aware of it. I loved it when Garry Marshall was talking about that episode of Happy Days, and then says "Happy Days never jumped the shark, we lasted a 100 more episodes after that one" It was like a neener neener to the jumptheshark website

Yes, and I noticed something else....There was a part where Gary Marshall approached Erin and said, "Erin, you grew up during "Happy Days...", and Erin sort of rolled her eyes and sarcastically said, "I sure DID!". There was SOMETHING there between her and Scott, and it obviously wasn't too pleasant.

but Erin refused to appear on that show.
Ooooooooooo I hope Erin writes a book about it.....

Thankfully, they did not include any post-season seven cast members onstage at the "Arnolds" set for the discussion. :p

I wondered why Al Molinaro wasn't there - illness, perhaps??

They could've brought Pat Morita on a little bit earlier instead of for a one-second cameo near the end. After all, he was Arnold!!!

And it would have been interesting to hear something from the two "Chucks" aside from a token response from Gavin O' Herlihy. Sounded scripted to me.

Don't get me wrong, I thought it was great, but I would have preferred less of the softball game and more clips and more stuff from the actors. Perhaps O' Herlihy or Randolph Roberts could have offered some theories as to why Chuck...mysteriously disappeared. :D

I guess if Happy Days were still an ongoing series, it would be set in the '80s and Fonzie would be getting his AARP card instead of his library card.

There was a profile show on Scott Baio a few years back - I believe it was on E! - where he referred to Joanie Loves Chachi as a "cesspool." I thought that was pretty funny myself.

I'm just glad Erin was there this time around - there were some weird rumors surrounding her lack of participation in the 1992 reunion show.

What was Scott Baio's problem? He looked like he hated being there. The only people he interacted with was Gary Marshall and Henry Winkler. He barely even looked at the rest of the cast. Even as they spoke, he was looking the other direction. And why didn't he play in the softball game? There was definitely something wrong. It seemed like he only appeared to please Winkler and Marshall.

Spats
02-05-2005, 04:06 PM
Baio didn't particpate in the softball game because he had an injured back. Maybe he was in just some physical discomfort during the reunion. I could never understand why him and the Chachi character were so popular anyways. It's not as if he is amazing looking or anything like that and i found the Chachi character annoying and when they finally hooked Chachi and Joanie up in the later seasons i thought it ruined the show.

The reason Erin did not appear on the previous reunion show was because she had been saying some bad things about the cast members, primarily Henry Winkler. I will not repeat what she said but she later admitted that she made it all up for whatever reason.

I really enjoyed the Reunion special and am glad they did not include the cast members from the not so good years (Roger, K.C, Jenny, Melvin Belvin) and focused on the great years. I thought it was great that they included the two Chucks because it has been a running joke for years how Chuck vanished and was never heard from again. Al was probably not there because of health. I think he is in his 80's isn't he?

I would have loved to have been able to attend the softball game. It was cool to see Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams and Danny Butch and Eddie Mecca involved with festivities. They should have had Spike make a guest appearance at the Arnolds reunion!!!! They could have asked Henry who his favorite cousin was? Chachi or Spike.lol

Screenwriter
02-05-2005, 04:17 PM
Well, he could have been in some physical discomfort.... but if he was in so much discomfort that he was in pain while sitting in a chair, I would assume that he wouldn't even had participated in the reunion.

There's medication for back pain. If he was in back pain he should've taken some. That's no excuse for looking at the audience when someone else is talking. First of all, it's disrespectful, second of all it makes it appear what he said during the reunion seem like a lie.

Zebra 3
02-05-2005, 05:59 PM
this sure sounds great....anything to see the cast together again....i just wish that it weren't a retrospective type. That is, I wish this reunion special were done like the Dick Van Dyke Show-Revisited is done-an actual show, and not just a bunch of interviews.
I agree, nothing beats a reunion special with the original cast in character providing there's a good script which I find The Dick Van Dyke Show Revisted lacked.

I was surprised that the "Jump the Shark" website, and the meaning behind it, was mentioned.
Now that was the true surprise on the reunion considering Henry Winkler is pissed off about the website's title.

Well, yes. It disrupts business, then again it's not being sold so I don't think it's necessarily violating anything. Maybe. I don't know. However, if they happen to put this reunion on a future dvd set the act of selling this will grow pointless.

I think they should of limited the game a little and play more clips. I would of liked to see clips showing the begining of everyone's relationships. I am eagerly awaiting the next 7 seasons at least on DVD. Of course it will probably be 2 years before they all come out.

Of course it will probably be 2 years before they all come out.
...And that's if we REALLY luck out.

This was already answered once before. Memories by Elvis Presley.

Can someone please confirm or deny if Memories was actually by Elvis or a sound alike?

And was Elvis's singing ever used on Happy Days. If so, which episode(s)? Thanks!

It was actually by Elvis Presley.

Here are a couple of other original Presley songs heard on Happy Days:

"Hound Dog" from "Bringing Up Spike"
"Love Me Tender" from "Richie Moves Out"

yes, it WAS Elvis.

Houndog was played MANY times, usually just parts of it though - most often when the Fonz would bang on the jukebox to start it.

it wasn't Elvis singing, but in the episode that the Fonz got to sing with the band, he sang Heartbreak Hotel (well, if you can call THAT singing)

That site is a joke. I listened to some of the songs and none of the tunes I recognized.

I have T-mobile and on the T-mobile site they have quite a few TV theme song ringtones. One of them is the Happy Days theme song. I downloaded it awhile ago and it sounds really cool on my phone. :)

Hey. I stayed up until 2:00 last night watching the Happy Days 30 year reunion. It was very cool. I don't normally stay up that late but for happy days I made an exception. I love the catch phrases 'I stiiiiill got it' and 'wa wa wa' (so random and pointless but funny) and I liked when Scott Baio talked about how he used to shoot spitballs at Henry Winkler and then run away. I discovered this show about a year ago through my father and immediately loved it. I am currently in the process of videotaping every episode in order onto blank VHS tapes as they come on tv. It is tedious and time-consuming but I can't afford the $30 whatever dollars per dvd to buy each season. I love the show though, it is my 'happy' show. When I am sad or upset, watching it makes me happy, it makes me laugh. My favourite character ever is chachi mostly because Scott Baio was HOTT in that role...I absolutely hero-worship chachi. I even tied the red scarf thing around my jeans because he did it. :) well I'm new here so just wanted to post this lol bye people.

I have watched the Reunion show everyday since it first came on. I love it!! I think my favorite character would have to be The Fonz or Joanie or Chachi. I like Fonzie, Chachi, Joanie and Richie the best. I have the first season and can't wait for the rest to come out when they do.

You don't have to like Elvis to recognize his voice. It's one of the most well known and greatest voice's in Music History. I have friends who aren't fan's that can tell it's his voice in a second. Before this Happy Days never used his voice though. It was always sound a likes because they would have had to shell out big dough to use his actual music. But it's alright when The Fonz or Leather Tuscadero did an Elvis tune or a sound a like did it.

The Reunion Special was awesome, as everyone has said, but I had one problem with it.

They billed it as the 30th Anniversary Special, which is fine, and they showed clips from the first show, which stated January 15, 1975. BUT, as all of us know, the first show actually aired on January 15, 1974!!!!!

ABC was trying to justify airing it on its 31st anniversary. Any true fan of the show would not be fooled.

When I watched it I thought it was hilarious. But it was really surprising to see how old the cast members had gotten lol. Is it me or did anyone else notice that Scott Baio looked kind of upset about something? He didn't seem so talkative as the other members. :(

There were some rumors and allegations that Scott was uncomfortable being around Erin or that he felt he'd moved on from the show and wasn't comfortable re-living his past. Again, this is all just speculation...

ok..... I do think I remember seein' somewhere that with some of the shows he had to do somethings that he didn't want to do and maybe being around the cast members brought back some memories he didn't wantto think about. you never know.

I remember when this was on. I had to be at a meeting the night it aired so I planned to tape it. When I got home, I realized I'd set the timer to the wrong channel and missed the reunion!! :( To this day, I have never seen it. I'd love to, though!
