View Full Version : 8-Track Tapes!! Jenya 12-16-2003, 01:54 PM Does anybody still have any? Mijada 12-16-2003, 02:00 PM My sister still has some of hers. I can still remember when she got her first and only 8 track player. Brian 12-16-2003, 03:59 PM I probably still have some but they in all likelihood collected dust. A couple of my sisters have tons of them. Penny Lane 12-16-2003, 04:24 PM 8 Tracks Rock!   SBTB Geek 12-16-2003, 06:32 PM Eh, my parents got rid most theirs around 1992 when my dad realized he lost his old 8-track player. He kept some of the "key" ones. I still think that 8-tracks suck. Pitooey 12-16-2003, 07:51 PM I only have 2 left and I can't see myself parting with them. passionsfan79 12-16-2003, 08:48 PM i have 1 but i bought it off of ebay last year its called partridge family sound magazine even though i dont have a player for it lol TJL 12-16-2003, 08:57 PM I have one 8 Track. "The Story Of Star Wars," which is part of my Star Wars Archives. Please keep your ooohs and aaahs to a minimum. ;) Penny Lane 12-16-2003, 09:00 PM The only 8 track that I have left is George Harrison's "Concert For Bangledesh". But where it is I have no idea! Probably in the garage somewhere!:( Jenya 12-16-2003, 10:50 PM Originally posted by TJL I have one 8 Track. "The Story Of Star Wars," which is part of my Star Wars Archives. Were 8-Tracks and CART Tapes (those tapes that many radio stations used for commercials & jingles) the same thing? Or were they a different audio format altogether? Thanks :) musicradio77 12-17-2003, 11:06 PM I have lots of 8-track tapes in my closet. Jenya 12-18-2003, 12:10 AM How about a tape deck for those 8-Tracks. ;) http://www.8trackheaven.com/Images/akaicr80ss.JPG Penny Lane 12-18-2003, 04:03 PM Originally posted by Jenya How about a tape deck for those 8-Tracks. ;) http://www.8trackheaven.com/Images/akaicr80ss.JPG Thanks for the memories................................:happyface phoebe7165 12-21-2003, 12:58 PM Originally posted by SBTB Geek Eh, my parents got rid most theirs around 1992 when my dad realized he lost his old 8-track player. If you wanted to hear a certain song, or if you listened to a song and wanted to hear it again, you couldn't just rewind it, you had to listen to another song you didn't like until your song played again. I had a few as a kid, they might be in my parent's garage, um, I mean 'the black hole'!! TJL 12-21-2003, 03:15 PM The first car I bought in High School (a 78 Camaro) had an 8 track tape deck. I'm TJL, the poster boy for New Jersey. ;) musicradio77 12-23-2003, 10:16 PM Here are the 8-track tapes just for you. These are blanks. Bugiddle 12-24-2003, 06:11 PM My dad had an 8-track player in his BMW, and I think we had one in the Pontiac, and then the Volvo, too. (And maybe in the Alpha Romeo before the BMW?) Hard to remember so far back! We had 8-tracks of all the popular musicals - Sound of Music, Hello, Dolly!, Oliver!, and some others. My parents played them ad nauseum, especially on long car trips. I just remember that the way the music was interrupted when the tape switched tracks bugged the heck out of me! I don't know if they still have these tapes or not, I'll have to check (they probably tossed them out a long time ago, though...too bad, they're probably collector's items now.) Plus sometimes a song would be split in the middle, you'd hear the first half of a song, it fades out, the tape switches then fades back in with the second half of the song. Does it sound like a cassette tape does or does it sound more like a record does? God bless you always!!! Holly Cassettes and 8 Tracks sound similar. The advantage was that cassettes were much smaller. Chocolate Moose 09-10-2024, 01:59 PM i don't remember seeing any even when i was a kid in the 70s. Dude111 09-10-2024, 05:06 PM Hmmm thats strange cause they very much were about in the 70s :) |
