My sister still has some of hers. I can still remember when she got her first and only 8 track player.

I probably still have some but they in all likelihood collected dust. A couple of my sisters have tons of them.

Eh, my parents got rid most theirs around 1992 when my dad realized he lost his old 8-track player.

He kept some of the "key" ones. I still think that 8-tracks suck.

I have one 8 Track.

"The Story Of Star Wars," which is part of my Star Wars Archives.

Please keep your ooohs and aaahs to a minimum.

The only 8 track that I have left is George Harrison's "Concert For Bangledesh". But where it is I have no idea! Probably in the garage somewhere!:(

Just a quick question if anybody an answer it. Were 8-Tracks and CART Tapes (those tapes that many radio stations used for commercials & jingles) the same thing? Or were they a different audio format altogether?

Thanks :)

I have to agree with SBTB Geek, 8-track tapes did pretty much suck. If you wanted to hear a certain song, or if you listened to a song and wanted to hear it again, you couldn't just rewind it, you had to listen to another song you didn't like until your song played again.

I had a few as a kid, they might be in my parent's garage, um, I mean 'the black hole'!!

The first car I bought in High School (a 78 Camaro) had an 8 track tape deck.

I'm TJL, the poster boy for New Jersey.

My dad had an 8-track player in his BMW, and I think we had one in the Pontiac, and then the Volvo, too. (And maybe in the Alpha Romeo before the BMW?) Hard to remember so far back! We had 8-tracks of all the popular musicals - Sound of Music, Hello, Dolly!, Oliver!, and some others. My parents played them ad nauseum, especially on long car trips. I just remember that the way the music was interrupted when the tape switched tracks bugged the heck out of me! I don't know if they still have these tapes or not, I'll have to check (they probably tossed them out a long time ago, though...too bad, they're probably collector's items now.)

Plus sometimes a song would be split in the middle, you'd hear the first half of a song, it fades out, the tape switches then fades back in with the second half of the song.

I know what an eight-track tape looks like, but I have never heard what it sounds like. Does it sound like a cassette tape does or does it sound more like a record does?

God bless you always!!!

Cassettes and 8 Tracks sound similar. The advantage was that cassettes were much smaller.
