View Full Version : VH1- "I Love The 80s"
Rickenbacker 12-15-2003, 08:21 AM Anyone seen these? I watched most of the 70s episodes & loved them, although for both, it's less informative & more on the entertaining side.
But anyway, while watching some of the "80s Strikes Back" (1981 & '82) yesterday, I was kinda shocked & I have to ask one question: Why are they talking to people like Ashanti & Mandy Moore?? What're they, like 20? 21? They were hardly born in the early 80s! Wtf? I was dumbfounded while listening to Mandy Moore say stuff like, "Yeah! I wore jelly shoes ALL the time!" I was like, "No you didn't!"
If ever they do (& they will someday) "I Love The 90s", THEN they can bust out the Mandy Moores & Ashantis.
Ah well...go figure.
I am Him 12-15-2003, 11:10 AM ^Yeah I thought that was strange as well. They had people talking about the 80's who were babies at the time.
I like the original I love the 80s and I love the 70s.
I love the 80s strikes back wasn't that good though.

I
Yeah, they did the same thing with I Love The 70's. Most of the people on there could not have possibly remembered that stuff! Good scripting, right?
musicradio77 12-15-2003, 10:50 PM I have both the "I Love the 80's" and "I Love the 80's: Strikes Bck" on video, but I don't have "I Love the 70's". Is there going to be a "I Love the 70's: Strikes Back"?
vienna waits 12-15-2003, 11:39 PM Yeah I said the same thing back in October. They do just feed them all of those lines. FAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE.
dandelion wine 12-16-2003, 12:00 AM Yeah, I watched 'em. Taped every installment from I Love the 80s, all the way through to I Love the 70s. The 70s was what I got a huge kick out of.
Anyway, I thought it was really strange to hear Mandy Moore and some of the other younger celebs talking as if they'd actually lived through the entire decade, myself. I was born in '74 so it'd be pretty pointless to have me up talking about the 70s when I only remember the last few years.
Rickenbacker 12-16-2003, 12:02 AM Even though I like em, it was the same thing when they showed The Donnas. They're like, 21, 22 & there they were talking about fashion trends of 1982! Yeahhh riiight. BULL*******!
I was able to believe all of the older people they spoke to, but it was a joke having people like Mandy Moore on it. If they were compelled to have on young, hip, now stars, they should've at *least* had em for the *late* 80s at the minimum.

Ok then- I'm sure you did. But when? In 1987? I can claim to've worn poodle skirts...in 1968. I'm not doubting you wore them, my point was questioning whether Mandy Moore & those of her age group was a great choice for an early 80s retrospect. But yeah- go figure alright.
discofever1975 12-21-2003, 05:58 PM its really is more on the entertaining side, but i think maybe they put you know ashanti or mandy moore on there so they can get more viewers, like the people that listen to ashanti or mandy moore they are going to watch this because they are on it and that leads to more viewers, thats just my opinion but i do like the show, its pretty funny.
Mijada 12-21-2003, 06:58 PM They did the same thing with I love the 70's, had some younger people on there who were toddlers during that decade.
